Titans vs Chargers: Two Teams That Are Playing Today
NFL January 6th. 2008, 3:55pm
Obviously, the X-factor in this game is Vince Young. According to NFL.com, we don’t know if he’s going to play. So I’ve got two predictions.
With Vince Young:
Tennessee 26, San Diego 24
Without Vince Young:
San Diego 31, Tennessee 20
That’s right – I have an unbelievable amount of confidence in a quarterback who has thrown for 9 touchdowns and 17 interceptions this season. You see, I’ve long been a student of the “Vince Young doesn’t know how to do anything but win football games” School of Thought. (Which I just learned in the last comments section is an unpopular institution of higher learning – Now I feel like I go to Ohio State. Sheesh.)
I’m combining that education with the fact that Phillip Rivers is more likely to get punched in the head by LDT today than successfully run a 2-minute drill. Could Rivers have a career defining game like Eli Manning did today? (20-27, 185 yards, 2 touchdowns – good luck beating that line, Pey-Pey!)
Then there’s Norv Turner. A lot of people questioned his hiring because he’s “never won the big one,” but I just think he hasn’t had the right situation. (That was supposed to be sarcastic, but I couldn’t think of anything witty to say. Now I just sound like a Norv Turner believer. Weird.)
If the Chargers stick to a strict plan of giving the ball to LDT they should be fine, but with VY in there you never know what’s going to happen.
Despite the ugly throwing motion and horrid statistical evidence to suggest otherwise, Vince only understands wins. Should he play today (I’m guesing he will, but what do I know) we’ll find out if this theory stands up.
Ladainian Thomlinson! LenDale White! Antonio Gates! Vince Young? Enjoy!
Why that picture of LDT? Because I’m trying to score a free TV for TBL, obviously.

I’m actually hoping for Kerry Collins. I think he’s a better option, and considering the comments made after last weeks game, I think Jeff Fisher feels the same way

Vince is playing, Glazer said so.
/right?

After listening to that douche bag Joe Buck for 2+ hours, Nance and Simms are like a breath of fresh air.

Jesus Haynesworth is huge

I completely forgot the possibility that both Young and Collins could play. I’ll have to combine my picks: Chargers 55, Titans 46

His wonderlic score is evidence he’s not capable of comprehending much more than that.

His wonderlic score indicates he can’t even spell W

apparently Vince Young has been sucking all year as a plan to lull the Chargers into a false sense of security. He’s playing better than I’ve seen this whole season.

Just think if the Titans win today, which is certainly possible, we’d have Titans at Patriots and Jags at Colts. Must less appealing matchups than Jags @ Pats and Chargers @ Colts. For that reason only, I hope Norv doesn’t step on his dick today and the bolts can win.

Hochuli’s sporting a spicy pink nipple piercing today. NFL must be targeting the gay market.

And down goes Vince Young

Is LenDale White a better RUNNING back than Bush?
January 6th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
Dornoch,
Yes
January 6th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Without a question
January 6th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
Unlike Reggie, LenDale doesn’t do a full on Chris Brown [singer, not guy who fumbles in the red zone] dance routine before hitting the running hole.
January 6th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
I always thought Tennessee got a steal with him in the draft. Sure, he was a fatass, but weight can come off and you can still be a power back. Bush isn’t strong enough but putting on weight would negate his best attribute: quickness.

I seem to recall an ice dancer named Chris Brown from when my parents would watch the icecapades
January 6th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
It sure looks like it. Amazing with the numbers he put up in college that he slipped so far in the draft.
Didn’t he score more TDs than Bush the year Bush had his best year?
BTW anyone who took the over has to be pissed at that fumble!
January 6th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
I had my head down and missed the fumble. Seriously, what the hell was he doing with that ball?
January 6th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
I’ll call Leon Lett and see if he knows.
January 6th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
@Dornoch- IIRC, there were some questions as to not only his weight, but his work ethic, as well.

“Phil” Rivers is such a whiny b…he actually believes that interception was not his fault. He should keep his mouth shut until he has accomplished something of merit.
January 6th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
It’s been a while since there was a young QB that I truly rooted against. Phillip Rivers could be the guy. Is it just me or does he seem like a dick?
January 6th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
rivers screaming at people after he throws a terrible pick = huge douchebag
also his brilliant skills of throwing the ball at gates feet led to that injury
January 6th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
I disagree, Bush is strong enough to be a good running back, but his problem is that he is much to hesitant. LenDale is definitely the better runner right now, and I think I am in the minority believing that one day Reggie will be a good running back.

rivers is a mental midget. i’m sure he’ll have another sissy fit at some point during the final quarter. i wish haynesworth hit him harder on that encroachment penalty.

Norm Chow can turn Philip Rivers into a top-five quarterback in college, but he can’t create a passing game with Vince Young? It confuses the hell out of me.
January 6th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
1. Philip Rivers went to NC State. Norm Chow coached at Southern Cal.
2. Outside of a random Roydell Williams sighting, VY has absolutely no one to throw to that would scare any defense.
3. The madden curse notches another player on its belt.
January 6th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Nice interception by Young there. Please espn, please keep telling us how much of a “superstar” Vince Young is. Call me crazy, but I would like my QB to actually be able to throw the ball more then 10 yards down the field and not look like he’s skipping stones across a pond when he throws the ball.
January 6th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Norm Chow was the OC at NCST when Rivers was there.
Vince Young is an absolutely terrible NFL QB.
The AFC divisionals are going to be awesome.
January 6th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Chow was there ONE season before he took the job at Southern Cal. I’d hardly count that as “grooming” Rivers since he always projected to start as a Freshmen.
