Antonio Cromartie is Gus Johnson in Cornerback Form
NFL January 13th. 2008, 2:42pm
Holy crap! That was an amazing interception return. Cromartie is still recovering from the stomach flu, and ran the Manning pick back 89 yards for a touchdown… except the Chargers got hosed on a crap-hold call by Phil Luckett. Based on the replay, it looked like the Colts player was holding Eric Weddle by the helmet, not the other way around.
The Colts also got hosed
On San Diego’s lone scoring drive, they had consecutive delay of game penalties, but the second one went uncalled. Vincent Jackson hauled in a TD pass minutes later.
Let’s put Nate Kaeding in a government-protected box
Poor Nate Kaeding. He missed his 48 yard attempt late in the 2nd quarter and is now 2/6 in his career in the postseason. He looks sad over on the sidelines.
The Norv T Effect
Like many great offensive coaches before him, Turner’s team is wasting challenges and wasting timeouts (nice false start immediately following a time out as well). It’s not all on Turner, but having sat through the Mike Martz era in St. Louis, I’m familiar with the irresponsible use of such things.
If Jim Ross was calling this game
MY GAWD NORV TURNER IS LIVID! THE REFEREE IS RUNNING LIKE A SCALDED DOG! NORV TURNER IS INCREDULOUS! HE’S BESIDE HIMSELF!
Time for more
The Chargers are winning the turnover battle and should be winning the game. Even if the touchdown had counted, I’d still go with the Colts.

OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! SWEET CHIN MUSIC!
i miss wrestling.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
For all his shit talking and general douchebaggery, Rivers is playing on another level right now.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Agreed.
Speaking of douchebaggery, how about the NFL and CBS airing that ridiculous punt, pass and kick ceremony? Isn’t that what halftime is for?
January 13th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
love the colts fans booing that 14 year old PPK winner for wearing a Patriots’ jersey
January 13th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Indy fans booing the New England Punt Pass and Kick chick: Wicked fukkin awesome!
January 13th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Are you kidding with that PI call?
January 13th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
1. Why in the hell do they do the Punt, Pass & Kick champions during the game? Why not at halftime?
2. Asshole Indianapolis fans booing a 14 year old girl because she has a Patriots jersey on. Morons.
3. Rivers is a complete douche.
4. Colts are trying to give the game away with turnovers and penalties.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Another one??? Is that uncatchable. Science
January 13th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
These refs got money on a Pats/Colts rematch next week? Some of these “calls” are past borderline questionable.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Booing kids playing punt pass and kick is like booing Mites on Ice.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Philip Rivers is about to Willis Reed this bitch because Billy Volek makes everyone vomit.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
I got Billy Volek-fucked in fantasy 3 years ago. I hate him forever.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Unless Stallone decapitates that guy’s head off with the machete in the final cut, consider RAMBO a bust.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
And free releasing WRs deep never amounts to anything.
Goddamn OSU grads.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA norv turner AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
January 13th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
This is the last game in the RCA Dome?
Are the Colts moving outside?
January 13th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
LT is losing serious cred for not playing hurt. Suck it, bitch. It’s live or go home time.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
I’m really disliking the fact that the referees are controlling the game with some of their bs calls.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
I think the new Colts stadium is indoors too
January 13th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Norv > Tony
January 13th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
If the Chargers win this game, it will be viewed as a MAJOR choke job by the Colts. LT is has been out almost the whole game and now Rivers is out and they still cannot stop them.
January 13th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Dornoch…the new stadium (Lucas Oil Stadium) is retractable roof
January 13th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Yup, I’m vomiting.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Chargers trying to close the RCA Dome out like the Bucs did to The Vet.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
This is like the AFC Championship last year.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
TBL, I don’t think you are going to have to give away a free post based on picks. I don’t think anyone had NE and IND not covering.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
Imagine for a moment Norv Turner vs the Hoodie in a battle of coaching wits. (If Norv was the OC and it was just a playcalling match, Id give him a chance). A game management contest should be great amusement.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Sack time.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
@Unreliable Narrator: /w to Rambo, if it’s anything like the unrated trailer, you don’t have anything to worry about. The guy’s head comes off like it’s attached to a spring. Relatedly, I just want to add Rip. Throat. Out. Rambo. <3.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
If the Colts win this – and I think they will – Chargers fans will be talk endlessly about how the NFL conspired to help set up a Colts/Pats rematch.
And they’re going to have plenty of ammo. Lots of phantom flags.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
ugoh just got pwned.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Ugoh got the steroid shove.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Unreliable, I agree with you. LDT should sack up and get back in this game. It is the playoffs, after all. Both teams will have a lot to complain about if they lose. Either way, it is looking good for the Pats next week.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Norv/Volek for President.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
awesome punt
January 13th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
test the chargers punter for hgh now
January 13th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Neo, I thought the same thing.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Wayne might have collapsed a lung on that one.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Turn out the lights . . . the party is over.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
I cant wait for the twelve thousand word article on the Manning Face by Bill Simmons tomorrow.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
January 13th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
is there a qb controversy in san diego now?
January 13th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
No.
Colts secondary is just under sized and overrated.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Anyone remember the last NE-SD game?
24-0 at the half, absolute blowout.
I guess the spread will start at 13.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Just loaded up on the Cowboys.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Sounds about right. Could crawl up to 15 if these injuries linger.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Colts had EVERYTHING going for them. Refs, injuries, crowd, home field really loud, defending champs with Manning at QB and they blew it – gave it away. They let a backup QB drive the length of the field to beat them.
Turnovers in the red zone!
January 13th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Might be a mistake TBL, NFL would like a GB-Pats matchup. Favre is the SB would be HUGE.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
@ Chelsea Chris: Well, I always say, if you give Volek the ball with ten minutes to go, he will beat you.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
Hate on Rivers all you want…the guy played a fantastic game.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Cabbage, I dont think the amount of viewers will be different between a NE-GB Bowl and NE-Dallas Bowl. Dont they get 3 Billion viewers regardless?
January 13th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
@ Chelsea Chris
It’s called “The Frank Reich Effect.”
January 13th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Frank Reich and the Bills versus the Oilers is a classic all-time game. But, this was a bigger upset.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
I think I said this before but this game always seemed like a deja vu of that Pittsburgh game a few years ago for the Colts. Both came off bye weeks where the underdog came off the games they shouldn’t have won. [Carson Palmer would have torched that Pitt secondary. That's another story.] Peyton always gets confused with the 3-4 and he had happy feet all day today especially when the Chargers ramped up the zone blitzing in the late 3rd, early 4th quarters. Maybe I just wasn’t sold on the “they’re getting healed at the right time” argument.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
i’m sure the colts will use injuries as an excuse no matter what though, and it doesn’t hold any weight. the chargers win today was very impressive.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Wow. What a game. My bservations, free of charge.
-Phillip Rivers is such a friggin’ douchebag, but he played really well until his injury.
-Billy Volek did a good job of handing the ball off to the Chargers back-up running backs, who somehow tore through the vaunted Indy D
-Vincent Jackson actually didn’t drop the ball
-The SD punter hit the longest punt I’ve ever seen. Dear god, what a leg.
-Dallas Clark is going to have nightmares about the pass he dropped on the final drive.
-I really hope that wasn’t the Chargers shooting their wad, because I’d like to see a good game next week, but I’m afraid that’s what it might’ve been.
January 13th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
bservations are like observations, only with less silly vowels.
January 14th, 2008 at 5:21 am
Thank you Boomer Esiason for calling out the douche ref that blew that Cromartie TD. Weddle had a clean block until Addai grabbed Weddle and threw himself (along with Weddle) to the ground, making it look like a hold.
i don’t really understand the hate on Rivers. is it cuz he talks a lot? i actually like that about him. id love to hear what he said to gerry fucking austin about the corrupt holding call, as he headed in at the half. cuz he definitely said something since austin looked back and seemed to react.
the game had the feel of pitt@indi two years ago. huge dog deals with a lot of bullshit and still prevails.
people shouldn’t call LT out. no one knows the severity and even if it was minor, Turner & Sproles at 100% are more effective than LT with a bum knee.
