ESPN’s Dana Jacobson Suspended for One Week
ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings January 23rd. 2008, 8:57am
The Chicago Tribune has the scoop - Dana Jacobson, who famously swilled alcohol and allegedly swore like a sailor at the Mike & Mike Roast in Atlantic City two weeks ago, has been suspended by the network for a week.
Sources have confirmed that Jacobson, a co-host of “First Take” on ESPN2, currently is serving a one-week suspension because of her behavior at a Jan. 11 roast for ESPN Radio personalities Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic at Atlantic City, N.J. While declining to confirm Jacobson had been suspended, ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said, “Her actions and comments were inappropriate and we’ve dealt with it.”
Makes you wonder if ESPN staffers will be on their best behavior at the Super Bowl next weekend, when the parties get notoriously rowdy, and camera phones are prevalent.

Hopefully, Stephen A fills in for her.

If a co-host of a show nobody watches gets a week suspension, does anyone notice? Discuss.

It’s all fun and games until someone gets suspended.

4 beers. Eh, who’m I kidding? No beers needed.

In her defense, before she took the stage, Bobby Knight told her to throw out a bit of foul language to break the ice.

Nice Sunt reference, Mags.

How many times can they re-name/re-brand that show before they just run paid programming. I mean I have a TV at work, and I would turn it off before I watched that garbage.

If what she said was so bad, why’d it take them nearly two weeks to suspend her? Taking action only after there’s an uproar seems a little disingenuous.

Mel Gibson approves of this drunken, foolish behavior. I bet he even yelled “Sugar Tits” as he was watching First Take….
Oh wait, no one watches First Take.

I really really want to hear the explicit details or see some video….she had to say some pretty bad things to get bumped for a week… TBL, let’s get an official A.P.B. out for some D Jacobson video!

Is First Take still on the air? Lovin the sunt references…

What if Kelly Tilghman worked for ESPN? I’m sure her comments would have been swept under the rug like Dana’s.
January 23rd, 2008 at 9:42 am
the best part of a ROAST is to get drunk and say mean things
this is retardulous
January 23rd, 2008 at 9:52 am
What Tilghman said was on TV, the Mike and Mike Roast wasn’t televised so I wouldn’t say the comments have been swept under the rug.

Beano Cook thinks the punishment doesn’t fit the crime.

So Berman and others on the network can do whatever they want. This wasn’t even a televised event. People can get suspended for getting drunk in AC? That is pretty ridiculous.

Luckily Jacobson didn’t pull out her schlong and dickslap Greenberg, otherwise she’d be looking at a 2 week suspension.

Wait…So someone gets drunk at a party where you’re supposed to get drunk. Curses “like a sailor” at a party where you’re supposed to curse like a sailor. And she gets suspended? I need some video or audio, she must have killed every big wig at ESPN while stripping down naked and pouring beer on Berman’s face all at the same time forcing every ESPN anchor to….ok, you get the picture

If that turd Bill Donahue hadn’t gotten his panties in a wad over this(which he probably wasn’t aware of until someone woke him from his casket), it mostly likely would’ve been handled quietly and without fanfare. And @Jimmy Chitwood- these things always fester until some self-righteous prick raises a stink. They’re rarely handled right away.

Pam Ward would have LOVE to witness that.

all this time off will allow her to do more pushups with no arms

I’m surprised that ESPN has this on the front page of their website, albeit at the bottom….

What if she had said “bleep Allah” would she had been suspended for ONE WEEK? No she’d be FIRED.
