Anyone Else Bored With Tom Brady’s Gimpy Ankle?
NFL January 28th. 2008, 11:00am
The Boston Herald caught Tom Brady limping in Boston this weekend. Then at a press conference Sunday in Glendale, he fessed up to having a minor high ankle sprain, but claimed he’d be ready to go. We find this entire ordeal extremely weak and pray that something else pops up (who wants to get mouthy at media day?) and replaces this stale storyline. It is a given that Brady will start, and since the Giants don’t have anyone eager to put some of Bart Scott’s hot sauce on Brady’s ankle, it likely won’t impact the game. We really have nothing else to say about the Super Bowl right now. We’ve avoided most of the hype surrounding the game, and this two week thing is a killer.

Yes I’ve had more than enough of the Brady non-story, as I’m sure everyone else is. However, the week leading up to the big game usually provides some interesting stuff, so hopefully something will come up soon (the sooner the better).

As a Packer fan I’ve been avoiding all things Super Bowl and save for the dumb wager I’ll make on the game I could give a shit who wins

Butters, sounds like my 11-year old brother who is a Packers fan. He cried in his room after they lost to the Giants and has vowed to not watch the Super Bowl.
BTW, I mean no offense comparing you to an 11-year old.

I’d love to see Bill Bellichick pull a Eugene Robinson.

Trust me, I acted like an 11 year old when Jarret Bush didn’t recover that fumbled punt return with 2:15 left in the game at midfield…no tears, just unbridled anger and lingering bitterness

If you want a laugh, here’s what Michael David Smith heard John Clayton say.

How about anytime you post about Brady or the game at this point, you at least put a picture of something nice to look at.

how is the nfl mvp having a bad ankle not an interesting story? i am so baffled by how dismissive everyone is with this. he’s been limping for a week! you’d consider plaxico guaranteeing a win more interesting? i’m baffled. baffled i say!

CRM, that didn’t make me laugh, it just made me angry.

I am with bobb on this one. Every time you post a story about the superbowl, you have to include a picture of some ASU chick(s)
January 28th, 2008 at 11:21 am
On the other hand, you sure haven’t heard much about Randy Moss’s legal troubles this week. That’s why this Tom Brady thing is even more offensive.

or Eli singing karaoke

412, I would be delighted him to see Belicheck pull a Eugene Robinson as well, with a little Eddie Murphy thrown in to really put it over the top.

I consistently hear far more about Tom Brady’s body parts than I want to.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:26 am
Is it just me, or do you think Tom Brady should have stayed away from New York City recently? It’s gotta be pissin off the Pats brass, and perhaps Brady should have feared for his health…He is lucky he got to Arizona unscathed…
January 28th, 2008 at 11:35 am
Does NY actually care that much about the Giants? This isn’t Yanks/Sox.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Here is a story I was hoping the Media will explore more this week, apparently Eli Manning has a brother that also plays professional football..and get this he is also a quarterback!…This story should rivet us all, I mean seriously two brothers both quarterbacks…and I was checking Eli’s Wikipedia page and his dad was also a quarterback…I am looking forward to all the columns giving in depth coverage on their relationship…hell maybe they can talk to their parents…it would be a real get.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:38 am
bobb…yes..NY really cares that much about the Giants…there is a 32 year waiting list for season tickets…something like 85000 people on it….The Giants are big deal. Just so you have an idea…Yankees/Sox only meant something huge in Boston until 2004…before that it was really a Boston hatred thing more than a Yankee hatred thing.

I’m ready for the boot to have its own ESPN sitcom. It’ll be like “Two and a Half Men” only it’ll be “Two and a Half Mikes” and it’ll star Greenberg and Golic as best friends who share a Bristol apartment and their lives with a young boot that’s from the wrong side of the tracks.
And we’ll have occasional guest star spots like Dana Jacobson as Greenberg’s ex-girlfriend, Scott Van Pelt as the boot’s teacher (a 21st-century Mr. Beldin), Stephen A. Smith will be the wacky neighbor and Mark Schlereth as the super/pool guy/wise lessons character.

BTW…I finally saw the commercial for Double Stuff that the Mannings did. Disturbing. I hadn’t been so sick since I saw the 2 chicks video.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:41 am
RWH,
I’m still actually waiting for the story where the Media actually admits that they were wrong and apologizes publicly for comparing Eli Manning to a cross between Ryan Leaf and Heath Shuler, saying that he would never be as good as his brother (I’m not arguing that he is, but it did take half as long to get to the Super Bowl), and that he would never be a big-game quarterback.
That would be one hell of a story.

Thanks, My question was serious, as I live in flyover country. At the time we are figuring out which NY team to give Johan Santana.
I am torn on this game as I want to see the 72 dolphins shut the fuck up, but at the same time, I want to see NE get beaten by the “other” Manning.
Win win.

At the Royal Rumble in MSG last night, 20,000 people busted into a “Let’s Go Giants” chant, so I would say New York cares about the New Jersey Giants.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:42 am
BFFredo: -1 for admittance to knowledge of a CBS sitcom.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:43 am
@cbh49er – Are you sure it was a chant for the New York Football Giants?
January 28th, 2008 at 11:46 am
And I’m not denying that this is a big deal with some of New York, but when you have a potential geographical fan base of 13 million people, you’re bound to have a waiting list or two for sports tickets. It’s amazing that they do that in Green Bay, however.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:50 am
bobb…the Mets and all of their fans would greatly appreciate Johan Santana…the Yankees don’t need him and the Mets have significantly superior prospects than Coco Crisp from the Red Sox or…whatever garbage the Yankees have after the pitchers they won’t trade. Plus would you want to see Johan like 2-3 times a year when he is a Yankee or would you rather not be reminded about the trade and have him toil away in Shea Stadium and the new Citi Field out of your conscientiousness?
January 28th, 2008 at 11:53 am
jgp…come on the Media admit they are wrong…never…I am convinced some of them would love for Eli not to play great in the game so they can still do the whole I told you so routine…will Eli ever be his brother…I don’t think so…but I am convinced when it is all said and done he will have more championships than him..only because contrary to popular opinion…Eli is at his best under pressure and his brother..not so much..plus his brother has to deal with the Pats every year.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:54 am
RWH – I am actually hoping he goes to the Mets. We are coming up on the 10 year aniversary of the Knoblauch trade. In a round about way the Twins ended up with Delmon Young for him. Ok, it is VERY round about but one thing does lead to another.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:56 am
I second RWH, send Johan to the Mets and yes Virginia, most of New York cares about football, both the Giants and Jets have waiting lists for tickets and the Cowboys might have more fans in the New York area then Dallas, the beauty of the NFL and the New York area is that every team has about 10,000 fans living in this area, hell even the Falcons get about 3,000 fans to show up at Giant games every time they are in town.
January 28th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
CoRM: How can I not? There’s 10 million ads during each and every game CBS broadcasts.
BTW, anyone notice that FOX is advertising Ryan Seacrest at the “Red Carpet” before the Super Bowl?
That’s right. A red carpet.
WHO THE HELL IS WALKING THE RED CARPET AT THE SUPER BOWL?!
January 28th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
jgp…a waiting list..yes they should..the Jets have about 10000 people…the Giants have 85000…that equates to about 200000 tickets…32 years before number 85000 get offered the chance…the Giants have had more than their share of season ticket holders that have had tickets since the 1940’s and people put these ticket in their wills. They were not allowed to do this until about 10 years ago…there are a lot of so and so Jrs…so So and So can keep his tickets in the family…I am a season ticket holder…My aunt’s family has had 10 seats since the early 50’s…the Giants have a very big fan base that encompasses 3 states..plus a nice share of upstate NY and New England because for 40 years that was the NFC team they would showing in New England states. I do agree the whole Green Bay thing is phenomenal…especially how the community comes out and shovels out the stadium voluntarily before games…not much of that at Giant Stadium
January 28th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Girls voluntarily show their breasts at Giants Stadium, that’t can’t be overlooked.
January 28th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
I’m just bored with Tom Brady, period.
January 28th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
We kind of got off topic here but what is the general consensus on the Brady “injury”? Is he faking it or did he get hurt sometime after the game against the Chargers?
