The last time Chris Webber donned a Warriors uniform, he posterized Charles Barkley with this gem. Nice to see C-Webb – one of our favorite players of all-time, despite his penchant for herb and for taking all that booster money – going back to Golden State for one last tour of duty in the NBA. While the 34-year-old will come off the bench, what does this move mean for the Warriors previous two first-round picks, 7-footers Patrick O’Bryant from Bradley (key in an upset of Kansas in the NCAA tournament two years ago) and Brandan Wright of UNC? That they each need another year of seasoning? Well, based on the salary situation, the Warriors are going to have to start shelling out some serious money sooner than later, and this fun-and-gun window is rapidly closing.

Though it’s too early to call O’Bryant (58 points and 47 fouls in 34 games) a bust, post-players selected after him in 2006 (Josh Boone and second-rounders Craig Smith, Paul Millsap and Leon Powe) have all contributed far more already. Wright has been a complete non-entity this season (15 games, one block), but he just turned 20, so we can’t crush the guy. (But 22-year-old Glen Davis, who left LSU with a much lower “ceiling,” has been vital off the bench for the best team in the NBA, Boston.) In a nutshell, guess we’re saying: a) Welcome back, C-Webb! and b) the Warriors don’t draft well at all.
