C-Webb’s Back in the Bay Area
NBA January 29th. 2008, 12:53pm
The last time Chris Webber donned a Warriors uniform, he posterized Charles Barkley with this gem. Nice to see C-Webb – one of our favorite players of all-time, despite his penchant for herb and for taking all that booster money – going back to Golden State for one last tour of duty in the NBA. While the 34-year-old will come off the bench, what does this move mean for the Warriors previous two first-round picks, 7-footers Patrick O’Bryant from Bradley (key in an upset of Kansas in the NCAA tournament two years ago) and Brandan Wright of UNC? That they each need another year of seasoning? Well, based on the salary situation, the Warriors are going to have to start shelling out some serious money sooner than later, and this fun-and-gun window is rapidly closing.
Though it’s too early to call O’Bryant (58 points and 47 fouls in 34 games) a bust, post-players selected after him in 2006 (Josh Boone and second-rounders Craig Smith, Paul Millsap and Leon Powe) have all contributed far more already. Wright has been a complete non-entity this season (15 games, one block), but he just turned 20, so we can’t crush the guy. (But 22-year-old Glen Davis, who left LSU with a much lower “ceiling,” has been vital off the bench for the best team in the NBA, Boston.) In a nutshell, guess we’re saying: a) Welcome back, C-Webb! and b) the Warriors don’t draft well at all.

Can even remotely play the Warriors style of ball? Isn’t he painfully slow now?

He’s painfully an A-Hole, according to this Sixers fan.

So, you consider him smoking herb a negative? You just angered 80% of your commenters.

It’s not like the Warriors picked Todd Fuller instead of Kobe Bryant.

Herb for fun is always a blast … but when you make millions and jeopardize that by dabbling in weed … not so smart.

Chris Mullin would of had a bigger impact on the warriors than C Webb will have in his return to his old team.

TIME OUT!

Webber’s knee is as faulty as a Clemens excuse. I can’t imagine him running up and down the court with the rest of the Warriors. Maybe he’ll just cherry pick at the offensive end. After all, the Warriors and defense are mutually exclusive entities.

TBL, you have offended 100% of the NBA with your comment.

JRich (over Eddie Griffin who everyone had them taing), Gilbert in the 2nd round, Monta in the 2nd. They can draft okay.

Keeping them on the other hand seems to be a different story.

C-Webb hasn’t been able to perform down low in years.

My everlasting memory of Chris Webber-besides the most glorious moment in sports history, his infamous timeout- is him yelling at Flip Saunders ‘Let me play my game!’. I guess no one had the heart to tell him he has no game anymore.

I am a huge fan of Diego Mardadona. No, he’s not known for smoking weed…

@ Spartan Fan
Thank you for that memory. My life is now complete.

They had to take Chris Webber. Derrick Coleman was no longer considering a comeback.

MtotheP – Who was the GM when they made those 3 picks?
Same as the guy who picked in the last two years?

@Magglio
Sorry! I mean, not really, but….you know.
