Get Well Soon, Mike
Media Gossip/Musings January 29th. 2008, 9:50am
Mike Wilbon, the cherubic Washington Post columnist, host of PTI and one-time TBL interview subject, had a mild heart attack Monday morning. According to Roy S. Johnson’s blog, Wilbon was having chest pains and “doctors found minor blockage and conducted an angioplasty to clear things out.” Wilbon is now resting at home.
In the two years we’ve been writing this blog, and in conversing with many journalists, we have gotten the impression that Wilbon is possibly the most well-liked sports writer in the industry.

I wonder who they will use as a replacement for him on PTI. Lebatard?

Malcolm Jamal-Warner?

In all seriousness, Wilbon is one of my favorites and I wish him a speedy recovery.

pkiguy, my guess would be Lebatard as well. Get well soon, Mike! Easily one of the 3 guys at ESPN.

It’s just some minor blockage, ya knuckleheads. – Wilbon
Hopefully he gets back soon.

JA Adande was yesterday’s guy, and it was unwatchable.

Hope Wilbon get’s well and LeBetard would be the best choice to take the PTI chair in his place, everyone else they throw in there sucks.

If the PTI people are reading, I’d be more than willing to fill in. I might even put on my nice bathrobe.

Adande almost killed the entire show with his run last year. LeBetard’s sweaty brow will do just fine.

why do heart problems seem to happen to all talented people? heath ledger has a heart problem, jake gyllenhaal doesn’t. john ritter dies from heart disease, joyce dewitt is still walking around. now wilbon is on the shelf, and kornheiser is working more than ever. there is no god.

Bill Swerski is not impressed with Chicago native Wilbon’s “mild” heart attack.
Seriously though, he’s one of the few voices of reason on the WWL, hope he’s back soon. I too vote for LeBatard (BAM) in the interim.

what? no love for the JA Adande Lounge?
seriously, thats the lamest name. call it a harem or sin-palace or something else debauched.

They need to drop the blockade and bring Whitlock back…I almost enjoyed him and LeBatard doing the show more than the A-Team
January 29th, 2008 at 10:13 am
I think it is funny you used the cherubic to describe him, that word just makes me laugh.
January 29th, 2008 at 10:20 am
Growing up around Washington, it didn’t and doesn’t get much better than Wilbon.
January 29th, 2008 at 10:31 am
I guess it has to be LeBatard with the news about Bob Ryan’s son. What a sad day for the best ESPN has to offer. Get well soon Mikey!
January 29th, 2008 at 10:33 am
LeBatard is the best fill-in and/or replacement. Given the choice, I much prefer LeBatard/Wilbon over TK/Wilbon.
January 29th, 2008 at 10:33 am
Adande was worse that Patrick McEnroe. Lebetard is the play.

PTI w/out Wilbon is like “Married w/ Children” post-Steve Rhoades.
January 29th, 2008 at 11:02 am
Love Wilbon. I agree with him more than any prominent sports personality. The guy works his ass off….he hits every big game in person and is up late watching the dish when at his home. He needs to pull it back a bit but he probably won’t…..this is going to drive him nuts not being at the Superbowl this week.
January 29th, 2008 at 11:03 am
But LeBetard is a bigot, remember?
January 29th, 2008 at 11:05 am
Get well soon Wilbon.

@412:
I can’t watch those episodes w/o Steve Rhoades, just like PTI w/o Wilbon. I actually think Jay Mariotti was worse the few times he was on PTI. Thoughts and prayers to Wilbon & Bob Ryan.

LeBatard is nails on a chalkboard and JA Adonde is one step above LeBatard. I’d rather just watch TK and Stat Boy and put a head on a stick in Wilbon’s chair.
January 29th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
How about TK and Dana Jacobson?
‘Wilbon? Fuck PTI, Fuck Stat Boy, and Fuck Wilbon!’

Glad Wilbon’s feeling better and back to writing… and getting inspired by JEFF GEORGE…
