The Joy of Looking Back at Preseason Picks
NFL February 1st. 2008, 1:57pm
Always fun (and humbling) to look back at how bad of a job you projecting the NFL season, right? Back in September, we projected a Patriots-Panthers Super Bowl. Injuries crippled Carolina from the outset and it didn’t even reach the playoffs. Our preseason playoff picks in the NFC: one of six. Ouch. Only had Dallas. That’s what we get for taking a chance on Arizona! In the AFC we fared slightly better: three out of six. Our darkhorse Super Bowl was Dallas-San Diego, which at least was remotely close to happening.
We couldn’t have been more wrong about the Giants: “Will they continue to be a team divided (Eli vs. Coughlin), or will this Tiki mess unify the G-Men? We’re guessing neither, and leaning toward a Reuben Droughns arrest, a Shockey outburst, and the end of the season will culminate with a firing and perhaps the trading of Eli.”

i will admit it…you were one of the only people who thought the browns might surprise people. then again, you ‘disclaimed’ yourself out the ass, so it kinda dampens your accomplishment.

I understand why everyone likes to predict the NFL season before it happens but it by far the hardest sport to predict.

Awesome…My comment picked the Giants for 8-8 and in the playoff mix…I defended Eli…saying he has balls…I lambasted Romo…I am glad there is proof I was for this team on September 7th…I also said the coach sucks balls…I still think he does but what the hell we are in the MOTHERFUCKING SUPERBOWL!!!!!! Go BIG BLUE!!!!

I miss Swandong. His unabashed homerism was always good for a laugh.
