Lost: Incredible or Off-the-Charts Incredible?
Television February 1st. 2008, 9:41am
No need for a recap - that’s what EW is for. But we’ll take this discussion to the jump, just in case you had to the Tivo the season premiere and haven’t seen it. Us? Shucks. We saw it, and then spent an hour trolling the nerdy Lost underworld (read: message boards) for clues to …
* Who the hell are the Oceanic 6? Jack, Kate and Hurley, obviously. The other three? Question - technically, is it the ‘other two’ since one of them died and is in the casket?
* Who is ‘it’? In the mental ward, Hurley said ‘it’ didn’t want them to leave and ‘it’ wanted them to come back. Jacob? The island? WTF?
* Was Jacob in the chair? EW speculates that it is the corpse of Jack’s dead father, based on slo-mo viewing. Inconclusive on our part.
* The Oceanic 6 surviving does NOT mean everyone else is dead. Could it be that Hurley (last night) and Jack (later in a flash-forward, if that makes sense) want to get back to the island to ’save’ the remaining passengers - presumably, the ones who went with John Locke last night?
* What stumped us: Dead Charlie. He kept saying to Hurley, ‘they need your help’ or something … leading us to believe that even though six people returned back, many are left on the island. But by choice? Because Hurley later said to Jack, ‘I should never have gone with Locke.’ Is Locke keeping the remainder of the passengers on the island? But that would mean he’s not in the casket then?
* Casket logic. Man, last night really farked up all the casket logic we had. It appears - to us at least - if perhaps Ben and Locke never left the island.
* Daniels in the Mother F’in House! We’re newbies to the Wire, but nice to see Daniels show up and freak out Hurley. His name has EW all worked up: “Matthew means ”gift of the Lord.” By contrast, there’s the hellish allusion of ”Abbaddon.” My trusty TV Watch editor, Tom Conroy, pointed out to me that in the book of Revelation, Abaddon is ”the angel of the abyss” and even the personification of death.”

Yeah I think it appears that only a few of them got off the island, thus leaving the rest of them still on the island. Maybe under control or at the mercy of the people who came with Naomi? No idea really. Not a lot of answers in last night’s episode, but definitely intriguing for those to come.

I’m waaaaaaaaaaaay too hungover to handle this discussion right now.
February 1st, 2008 at 9:49 am
I have never seen a single episode of this show. I like to read.
February 1st, 2008 at 9:51 am
Hurley needs to fucking die.
That slow-mo scene of him doing a “canon ball” into the ocean was just about the gayest scene I have ever seen on this show.
Also, his “speech” at the end re: Charlie looked like he was constipated. He wasn’t even there when Charlie died; Desmond should have been the one telling the others about the “not Penny’s boat” note.
And wasn’t that like the very first time Jack, etc. had even heard about this new bit of news? He must have been thinking, “what the hell is this fat ass talking about?”
Daniels is awesome though.
February 1st, 2008 at 9:52 am
My only beef is how did Locke know about what Charlie did. How did he know that? He was up by the radio tower throwing an axe at that chick. Does he have some Walt powers now?
February 1st, 2008 at 9:52 am
I couldn’t separate Daniels from Daniels though. He was basically the same character. I wanted to hear him say something about “getting up on those corners” or “chain of command.”
February 1st, 2008 at 9:53 am
What eff’ed me up is that Hurley went with Locke and got more of the survivors to go with him with the “Charlie died for us speech”…
The Walt/Michael storyline - when is that coming back and how?
I just hope JJ Abrams never goes David Chase on us (please)
February 1st, 2008 at 9:54 am
Good for you CRM, what was the beverage of choice? End up waking up to anything strange?
As for Lost, I thought it was a good episode. Too much Hurley for sure and I am still what happened for Kate to hate Jack so much in the fast forward life.
February 1st, 2008 at 9:54 am
I thought Hurley was awesome last night…great performance. TBL, go to for great screen grabs of Christian Shepherd as Jacob.
February 1st, 2008 at 9:56 am
I’m going with just south of Off-the-Charts. As the first episode with a flash-forward, where it didn’t feel gimmicky, I’d say this was a home run. Hurly’s arc in the show revealed tons of interesting questions about what the hell goes down on the island. As per your points:
1) There’s no reason to assume that the casket person is an Oceanic 6 person because the 6 are made out to be celebs, but no one was at the funeral.
2) Hurly, Jack, Charlie and Lt. Daniels all referred to “them” as well as “it.” There’s def people still on the island, and apparently there’s no way for Daniels’s people (who does he work for!?!?) to know how they are faring. They also can’t all be Locke people because we know that Hurly went with Locke, at least initially, and he’s still around in the future.
3) Someone was in the chair, and the speculation about Jack’s dad seems appropriate. He was involved in too many back stories, including being Claire’s dad, to not be involved in some deeper way. Who was the person who scared Hurly at the window though? Same entity? Why did the house move? Is there even a real house, or is it just a manifestation of the island, a la the smoke monster.
4) This flash forward obviously comes before Jack’s from last season, and the reference to “I think I’ll grow a beard” was perfect. It also opens the debate up about what happens to Jack to make him go off the deep end because he’s pretty well put together here.
All around, really solid stuff, and now I’m seriously concerned about the season being so short. We’re definitely looking at potentially the biggest goddamn cliffhanger since end of Season 2.
February 1st, 2008 at 9:56 am
I had to watch Lost for the first time last night, thankfully I will never have to watch it again.
February 1st, 2008 at 9:56 am
@ Maggs:
I watched one episode when it first came out. I was “Lost”. I knew I had to watch it from the very beginning to understand anything. Never went back.
Here’s my problem with this show. even though I dont watch it:
It seems like they open 50 cans of worms, but only close out about 2 stories. Then people get upset. I don’t understand how anyone can watch a show like that.
February 1st, 2008 at 9:56 am
I thought the episode was alright…I always have problems though when Hurley is asked to do some real acting instead of just providing comic relief, he was brutal in some scenes
My early thinking is that Locke has become Col. Kurtz on the island and those who left do indeed want to return and help those in his new cult
February 1st, 2008 at 9:59 am
Gonzo–that’s a common complaint from people who don’t watch the show…it seems obvious to me that you don’t see some of the resolution because you don’t watch the show. Also, the producers have said that they were having a difficult time writing for the show before they set a definite end to it (2010), because they didn’t know how long they would need to drag out storylines and when they could begin to resolve things. I think now that they have that definite end date, you’ll see more things starting to be resolved.
February 1st, 2008 at 9:59 am
@ Mike - Locke had different reasons for wanting to stay on the island, so I was under the impression that he didn’t know exactly what Charlie had communicated, but was ready to incorporate whatever it was into his own beliefs.
@Tangin Wann - Michael and Walt might be gone for good. I was reading somewhere that Michael wouldn’t agree to terms on a contract, so they wrote him out. Then again, they brought Walt back for Season 3’s finale, so maybe we’ll get some more of that brand of crazy.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:05 am
The guy who plays Michael was named in the credits in the opening, so he’s definitely making an appearance this season.
For those who have only watched a few episodes, or just started watching last night, well, obviously you’re not going to like/understand it. It’s been the best non-HBO show on TV since it came out, I think.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:07 am
That’s what I interpreted the Jack-Hugo and Hugo-Charlie convos to mean, too. But who knows?
February 1st, 2008 at 10:08 am
Locke knew about Charlie because Hurley told him. When they cut to the scene of them sitting down its safe to assume that they were there for at least a few minutes and Hurley filled him in on everything that happened and I agree the dead person is not one of the “Oceanic 6″. Maybe Sun, Jin and the baby are the other 3 since we know Sun would need to get off the island for her and baby to survive.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:09 am
@Magglio: you’re not alone. Never seen it myself, and don’t have any plans to.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:09 am
I’ve never understood why Ben didn’t explain who he thought the people on the boat were…it’s dumb to simply say “They’re going to kill you” and not give any rationale
February 1st, 2008 at 10:09 am
The Walt/Michael storyline - when is that coming back and how?
I guess we can assume (or can we?) that the “Oceanic 6″ are the survivors, and Michael and Walt were not with them. So where are they?
February 1st, 2008 at 10:09 am
Damn, didn’t catch Michael’s name in the credits, but if so, that’s excellent.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:12 am
The other “Michael/Walt” storyline question? When (or if) they come back, how will they resolve the noticeable change in Walt’s appearance, since he has gone through puberty over the last 3 1/2 years, and the show has advanced about, what, 3 months in that same time period?
February 1st, 2008 at 10:14 am
ButtersBC: Ben never tells the whole story. Their is always some ulterior motive or strategy behind everything he says. Actually basically everyone on the island behaves that way. It would get pretty old if you were hanging out with them.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:17 am
@ Atlanta - Holy Smokes! Is that site legit?! That is crazy! I am completely thrown here!
@Schnarrs - No doubt Jack’s dad has to play a part but he’s dead, No? Wasnt this confirmed from Season 1? And one has to assume that Jacob has had to be around for quite sometime, e.g. becasue he has been talking to Ben all this time and as we all know, Jack’s Dad has pretty imprtant job back in the World.
Man, this some freaking ride
February 1st, 2008 at 10:17 am
As for Ben, I still don’t think we can trust him or his motives in saying that “They’re going to kill you.” It’s pretty obviously a scare tactic, but at the same time a particularly desperate one because it will be revealed to be false pretty easily, and then he’s basically a dead man. So why does he play it so hard? What is he willing to give his life to try to defend/protect? And why does he want to keep everyone on the island so bad? Ben has to have some endgame in mind, maybe related to Jacob, but we still have no idea what it is.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:20 am
Question: Was Jack’s dad’s body on the plane? Wasn’t that why Jack was flying home from Australia in the first place, to bring his body back? If so, Pops could have been brought back to life (maybe a stretch, but come one, it’s Lost, right?). Jacob could also just be assuming Jack’s dad’s form because he knows he’s a person woven into many of the survivors’ lives.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:24 am
Gonzo,
I’ve watched Lost from the day the pilot aired back in 2004, and I wish I could have back the 50+ hours of my life I’ve wasted watching this stupid show. They have so many loose ends to tie up, there’s no way the writers will remember all of them by 2010! Everytime someone a character asks a question, the “answer” they get is another question. Even more annoying is the “There’s no time to explain” response.
I swear to god, every single person on that island is stupid. Hurley threw the goddman radio into the ocean so he could ask about Charlie?! WTF!
February 1st, 2008 at 10:25 am
In the Season 3 finale in Jack’s flashforward he says “bring my father down here if I’m drunker than he is you can fire me” This means, his father is alive when they get off the island. (I didn’t realize this until yesterday)
Also, am I the only person that likes Charlie? He’s probably my favorite character on the show. I hope he keeps coming back.
/I’m kinda gay like that
February 1st, 2008 at 10:26 am
Could it be that Jack’s dad is one of the Oceanic 6, remember in last season’s finale during the flash forward Jack told the other doc to get his dad down here and if he was 1/2 as drunk as him he would leave. Also I wonder if the island is pissed that some got off or that the freighter knows where it is now. Seems like when Hurley said it wants us to come back he could have been referring to the island. Maybe the ones left on the island are in some sort of danger, that could lead Jack to depression as he could not “save everyone” as he is always trying to do.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:26 am
@Schnaars: Man, thats a stretch for the Island to have the abilty to raise the dead. Granted it is Lost. But I cant see them going that route. So, basically Jacob’s been this disembodied soul and took on Christian Shepherd’s physical form? Or has it been Christian Shephers all along?
February 1st, 2008 at 10:27 am
I don’t like Charlie because every time I see him I get that “You All Everybody” song stuck in my head
February 1st, 2008 at 10:28 am
@RonMex: Dude, you 100% positive. Thats a great catch!
February 1st, 2008 at 10:29 am
Maybe it’s me, but if I’m stuck on an island with “Others”, black smoke monsters, polar bears, and God knows what else, I’m leaving. It’s hard to imagine that some of the survivors would choose to stay with Locke based upon his vague suspicions about the boat that was contacted.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:29 am
Just because we know that 6 people from the Oceanic flight survived, that doesn’t mean that they were the only people who were rescued. Ben, Juliet, and the Frenchwoman and her kid weren’t on the flight.
Could Juliet be in the coffin? Jack’s the only person who liked her.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:29 am
CRM–He does say that, but I would have to think it’s just him being delusional, right? I don’t know…
Schnarrs–Jack’s dad’s body was on the plane–remember, wasn’t there a scene where he found the coffin but it was empty? I agree…either the island brought him back to life, or Jacob has just assumed his form.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:30 am
CRM: But at the same time, Jack is hopped up on a lot of drugs, and you can see that the doctor looks pretty sympathetic to the state he is when he mentions his father. I’m not sure if him saying that is necessarily a good enough reason to say his father is alive. He is clearly off his rocker at that point.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:30 am
I really have no idea on the whole Christian = Jacob thing, but I just don’t know how else they could pull it together. As for Jack’s rantings at the end of season 3, I wrote it off at the time as “he’s hammered, and yelling” and I’m tempted to do the same now.
@ SuperVisor - That actually plays into my long term prediction which is that we get two more seasons of flash forwards (or maybe just 1.5, depending on what happens post-strike), followed by some kind of return to the island for a final reckoning. I think that could be epic.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:32 am
Wait. I think they said in the flashforward that he died. Never mind.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:32 am
Also, the best theory I have heard, is that the Oceanic 6 (Jack, Kate, Hurley, and whoever else) are rescued and leave the island, and are done so on the condition that they say they are the only survivors of the plane crash. Thus leaving the rest of the the Losties on the island and to be forgotten or done whatever with buy the rescuers/others/Jacob whatever. Thus the secret Jack and Hurley have is that they have to say they are the only survivors, and this is why Hurley and Jack in the flashforwards both say “We have to go back.”
February 1st, 2008 at 10:32 am
@JGP–could be Juliet, but I’m sticking with Ben. Juliet would’ve had to have had family/friends at her funeral, right? We know of her sister (who could’ve died, obviously), but there had to be others there for her. Ben is a safer bet, because he lived almost his entire life on the island, so he might not have any family/friends on the mainland.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:33 am
Good point jgp.
–
If they are trying to show that Jack is some sort of alcoholic, shouldn’t it have been at least 1 part OJ and 1 part Vodka and not 20 parts OJ and 1 part Vodka?
February 1st, 2008 at 10:33 am
Juliet and Ben have to be the leading candidates for coffin-guy. I could still see Jack and Ben coming together or at least coming to understand one another.
@ ATL- You’re exactly right, I completely forgot about that finding the coffin scene. That’s strong evidence for zombie-Christian/reincarnation or something.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:33 am
@CRM: I like Charlie. During every suspensful moment last night, i would sing “goodbye everybody” in Charlie’s singing voice and it lead to much laughter.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:35 am
@KC–I almost think they showed that to point out that it’s the beginning of his alcoholism.
@CRM - I like Charlie too. Not so much the first couple of seasons, but toward the end of last season he became a favorite
February 1st, 2008 at 10:38 am
And, of course, I forgot that Desmond wasn’t on the flight too. Maybe he never finds Penny and dies alone.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:40 am
My head hurts
February 1st, 2008 at 10:43 am
I think I am going to be disappointed if Jacob turns out to be some zombie form of Christian Sheprherd becasue he (Jacob) needed a new vessel to inhabit
February 1st, 2008 at 10:44 am
O Qua Tangin Wann - Ditto
February 1st, 2008 at 10:47 am
That Easter Egg site is incredible.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:47 am
Penelope showed on Tell Me You Love Me her true assets
February 1st, 2008 at 10:53 am
TBL–agreed. I don’t know if I could survive the show without it. I had no idea that was Christian Shepherd in the chair until I saw the screen grabs…
February 1st, 2008 at 10:54 am
I’d bang Juliet’s corpse.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:54 am
[Begin nerdery]
My theory has long been that the island is the center of the space/time “continuum” where all realities converge at a single point. Jack’s dad being alive and Kate not being a fugitive in the flash forward make some sense because Jack and Kate could have possibly emerged in a different reality than the one they started on. It’s also possible that Hurley escaped the island but not with Jack and Kate and he is on a different reality than they are.
I just made my own brain hurt.
[End Nerdery]
February 1st, 2008 at 10:58 am
I was getting hammered last night and had to watch it Tivoed early this morning. My semi-drunk hungover mind thought of this: Does anyone remember when they showed Libby in the flashback when she was in the mental hospital and they never cleared that up?
Now we see Hurley in the mental hospital in the flash forward. Obviously Libby is dead and everyone thought how could they have not remembered each other from the mental hospital? Maybe what we thought was a flash back was actually a flash forward, before last year’s Jack flash forward. Hurley imagining Libby in the mental hospital like he did Charlie.
Thoughts?
February 1st, 2008 at 11:07 am
In the immortal words of Stephen Colbert this episode of Lost was “great or greatest?”
@cgb…dude they killed of libby and anna lucia cause they were causing trouble on the set and got pulled over for dui. so i doubt libby will factor into things.
On a personal note, I have never cared for Charlie and was glad they kiled him. His character is a whiny little bitch and if someone had to go I am glad it was him and not Desmond.
@mike nyc….And watching Hurley’s beefy man boobs bounce as he ran to do the cannonball was on of the greatest tv moments of all time.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:08 am
That easter egg site: anyone check out the “primary objective” video clip yet? HOLY SMOKES!
February 1st, 2008 at 11:10 am
beefy man boobs always funny!
February 1st, 2008 at 11:11 am
the hurley cannonball scene was the god damn worst. thats been my long running complaint about lost. the slow motion music montage crap. but thast because i want it to be a sci fi ACTION show not a sci fi DRAMA. cut out the shit and make it a half hour show.
when does battlestar galactica come back on?
February 1st, 2008 at 11:12 am
Galactica rocks
February 1st, 2008 at 11:25 am
@ Maggs and Sportsgal:
What TV show shall we talk about ? Seinfeld ?
February 1st, 2008 at 11:25 am
Sisto, you’re my new hero. You’re nerdery is of the highest caliber.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:26 am
Every time I watch this show, while fast forwarding through the comercials, I say outloud to myself “What the f is going on? I have 50 new questions that will never be answered!” I must admit, it was great and the recap by EW really helped me pick up on things I didnt catch. How on earth is hurley so fat, they have been on the Island for 3 seasons! I tell you, 2009 is when the writers strike is going to catch up to us and that is when lost will lose the majority of viewers. Too much lag time sucks. On a serious note, KATE looked amazing at the airport in the flash forward when she went to talk to Jack.
My answers are as follows:
1. the O6 are Jack Kate Hurley the two asians and Claire… the casket looked kinda small, I’m gonna go with Charlie (almost a midget), walt, or Claire’s baby.
2. It is the Island or as I like to call it Shananagans!
3. Jacob (A.K.A. Jacks Father) was in the chair, follow the links from ew to http://losteastereggs.blogspot.com/
4. Everyone else is caught in pergatory. They are inbetween dead and alive.
5. That other crazy guy in the nut house saw charlie too, meaning he is tangible. Plus, isnt dom monahan banging my future ex gf Kate in real life? He must have fanagled his way to be a regular on the show till 2010.
6. See answer 1.
7. Daniels is one creapy dude. He is on the freight boat off the coast of the island. He is a research based scientist who wanted to add some more diversity to the island. There is not enough blacks there.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:27 am
@coach-k: they did but Libby is coming back http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_Lost#Main_characters
She is a guest in season 4. That is why I think my theory is very possible.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:30 am
Most over-rated television show of all time.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:31 am
i like your theories johnson - im pretty sure the creators definitely said they arent in purgatory tho. and im glad, that would be cheap.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:43 am
@Qua Tangin: Where is the clip you are talking about?
February 1st, 2008 at 11:48 am
You can call it overrated. Fine. That’s your opinion. But I’d rather watch this than watch all this bullshit B-List Celebrity Reality Show Garbage that they’re giving us. Even Survivor is going “celebrity” (in the form of past favorites) this time. I just don’t understand this cult of celebrity. Why do people care that a third-rate soap opera star or former child actor is learning to dance or hanging out with Donald Trump?
February 1st, 2008 at 11:50 am
Unpossible - Hurley was first introduced to “the numbers” in his mental hospital flashback, so it couldn’t have been a flash forward.
February 1st, 2008 at 12:27 pm
Last night’s visit from Dead Charlie (and Wednesday’s replay of Through the Looking Glass) reminded me that Charlie should have just run to the other side of the door and shut it behind him. Why did he have to lock Desmond out and die alone?
February 1st, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Ving–I think it has something to do with the thought that in order for Claire and Aaron to survive, Charlie had to die, according to Desmond’s visions. I thought the same thing, because I was wondering if he could’ve crawled out of the porthole as well…
February 1st, 2008 at 12:37 pm
It all revolved around him living out his “fate” in order for Claire to be rescued. The thing I didn’t like is that he already had the information about the boat when he could have run out and locked the door before Patchy blew up the window.
February 1st, 2008 at 12:40 pm
He was trying to keep Penny on the line to get to Desmond. And by the time he got there, it was too late.
February 1st, 2008 at 12:49 pm
I get the point about fate and Claire, but I don’t buy that he locked the door because he was trying to keep Penny on the line — water was (or was about to be) flooding the room from a hand grenade. He wasn’t going to be able to operate the computer.
It seems to me that the writers wanted the shot of “Not Penny’s Boat” on his hand, so they made him accept his fate. Seems a bit forced, but the hand message shot was visually effective.
February 1st, 2008 at 12:52 pm
I cannot wait to jump into this discussion. Two more posts to get ready. Trying for 20 today … if you count those early-morning re-dos.
February 1st, 2008 at 12:56 pm
I’m pretty sure it was fate because Desmond kept seeing him die in his “premonitions.”
February 1st, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Yeah, Charlie had to die. He could have gotten out if he wanted. I’m glad he’s gone. Besides Jack, he is the most annoying character on the show.
February 1st, 2008 at 1:06 pm
No. I didn’t mean he locked the door to keep Penny on the line. I meant that he locked the door to not kill Desmond. He hung on to the line and tried to reunite him as long as he could. But Charlie had to keep Desmond alive for two reasons: because he still had hope (Penny was still looking for him), and he had to get the message that it wasn’t Penny’s boat to the other survivors.
February 1st, 2008 at 1:27 pm
@diesel: it was under the spoilers section: http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2008/02/episode-402-confirmed-dead-2-new-sneak.html
That should get you there! There is two of em. Its the second one with the guy from Saving Private Ryan (the Oppam(?) the transaltor)
February 1st, 2008 at 1:32 pm
We need to define annoying: If we are taking about someone that just “gets” to you than its either Claire or Charlie with a close third with Hurley;
But if its someone you just feel the need to stomp the sh*t out of: I go with Locke (selfish prick - I would’ve killed him too after blwoing up the sub); Michael ; and of course Sawyer (but he is a fantastic anti-hero!!).
February 1st, 2008 at 2:12 pm
See, I like Locke and Sawyer. Claire is irrelevant. Jack is annoying because that is the way his character is supposed to be. Charlie and the dude that plays him just bug the shit out of me. Don’t like his acting, didn’t like his character, and his story arc never seemed that interesting.
February 1st, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Desmond annoys the shit out of me. The way he says “brother” in that annoying accent EVERY SINGLE EPISODE has become more annoying than Hurley saying “dude” or Sawyer saying “freckles.”

This guy is a serious, SERIOUS LOST fan…
February 1st, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Did anyone see the “commercial” for Oceanic Airways during Eli Stone? Evidently, it had a couple(or three) Easter eggs in it.
February 2nd, 2008 at 2:41 am
Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread. I just watched the season premiere online so am a little late to the discussion.
I think the thing that separates Lost from other shows is the character development. There’s a lot of depth to all these charcters. The flash-backs and flash forwards are what makes the show one of the most interesting shows I’ve ever seen.
I would say the show has become quite a bit darker though. I found myself depressed a lot of times after watching lost in Season 3! and felt the same way the other night.
On a side note, the last 30 minutes of Friday Night Lights was amazing the other night.
Didn’t think I say this a year or 2 ago, but I actually think Friday Night Lights is better than Lost. They are a lot different, so it’s kind of like comparing apples to oranges, but the acting and script writing in FNL is just as if not more impressive than Lost.

Someone I read pointed out that the plotting is basically an illustration of Zeno’s dichotomy paradox, and after they spent about 25 episodes basically stalling through seasons 2 and 3, I gave up. I’ll be watching primarily because of the strike (there’s nothing else on) and because I get a kick out of making fun of it.
