Baseball, Courts, Legal, Drugs, Golf, Movies, Soccer, Television, Video February 5th. 2008, 3:20pm
More Sophia Bush, and you’re damn right it’s warranted.
* Phil Mickelson, what a guy! (AZ Central)
* Ben Silverman, you jerkoff – we’ll take the teen angst of FNL over the comedic stylings of 30 Rock every day of the week. ESPN, your chance may be at hand … (Radar)
* The Devil Rays will fine you, even if you are just a lowly blogger! (Rays Index)
* Spygate, losing the Super Bowl, and now, a pot bust. (Boston Herald)
* For the media hawks in the house – the strategy of newspapers to focus on local news may be backfiring. (Nieman Reports via SJ.com)
* Yup, the pressure is on Michigan and Rich Rodriguez to land QB Terrelle Pryor. (Detroit News)
* We can’t wait to review this movie. (Trailer)
* Life with no parole, right? (NBC 12)
* Blogger interviews arguably the the hottest NY Giants fan. (Macho Chip)
* Apparently, the NFL was skittish about showing a commercial in which Danica Patrick carried a beaver. (Hotties in Cleats)
* Sad story of a soccer player narrowly escaping death while at home visiting his parents. (Unprofessional Foul)
* Worthless real estate advice that will generate the usual hate mail – interest rates are going to keep coming down, so don’t fall for the ‘now is the time to buy’ garbage. (Bloomberg)

Woah, woah, woah there TBL. Be careful what you say about 30 Rock.
February 5th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Damn TBL, nice Sophia Bush pics, I didn’t realize you were so old.
February 5th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
What dimension did that get-together take place in?
February 5th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
phil mickelson…as much as i want to hate him, hes a really nice dude. fuck him anyways. i hope tiger takes his daughters to prom.
February 5th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
now that picture is much better of sophia bush. nice legs but it would be nice if she invested in some breasts and came out with a sex tape to better her image.
February 5th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Good lord that article about the mom and her kid was disturbing. I cant imagine that level of recklessness.
February 5th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Nothing against 30 rock … the handful of eps i have seen have been good. But for a guy working at NBC to treat FNL like that … it’s just wrong
February 5th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
30 Rock > Friday Night Lights
Mandy Moore > Sophia Bush
Beer > Baby
Buying Later > Buying Now
February 5th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Danica needs to win a race soon. Otherwise she might be showing her beaver sooner than she thinks.
February 5th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
One can only hope the WWL saves FNL. F NBC. Oh yeah, cancel FNL…but keep Olbermann and his 12 viewers happy.
February 5th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
I’ve attended many golf tourneys over the years, and other than John Daly, Phil is far and away the most approachable and coolest guy on the course.
Tiger gets a bad rap sometimes for his robotic image, but if you’ve ever seen the mass of people that surrounds this guy on a course, it makes what he is doing that more remarkable.
February 5th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Does anyone outside of gum sucking trailer trash actually think Danica Patrick is actually hot? That playmate on the other hand.
February 5th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Outstanding Sofia Bush pics, TBL. Great way to end a miserable day at the office. Appreciate it!
February 5th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
Also from the Detroit News: .48?

Wade Boggs would be impressed.
(first story)

IUgrad…totally agree. i followed phil at the Bridgestone and the guy was constantly hamming it up with the fans. it looks like he’s genuinely having a good time out there. vijay is also fun to follow.

The economic article you posted was written by two women. Women don’t know shit about man stuff.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
@pantsman – It was probably Brad Miller’s wife and maid!
/We’ve solved the case!
February 5th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
man stuff…like earning a living and peeing standing up. god damn women should take a class on that shit.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Jack Donaghy > anyone on FNL
February 5th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Yes, it would be horrible to buy now and then refinance if and when the interest rates go down. Yep, completely a bad idea. Because buying a house with a 5.25% 30yr fixed mortgage is just dumb.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
My girlfriend wanted a watch for her birthday. I asked, “why?” I always thought the clock on the stove was more than adequate.

FNL needs to be moved off Friday nights. Sure it wasn’t on Fridays last year but last year the show was just getting its feet wet. NBC had to move Seinfeld all over the map before they started to develop a big audience. Friday nights at 9 is a horrible time slot. No TV shows do well that time of the week. If 30 Rock is so great why doesn’t NBC move that show to Friday.
They should find a spot for it on Thursdays. That is usually a weak night for sports fans and for fans of shows like FNL. Isn’t Thursday usually inundated with reality shows?
Not a fan of this NBC punk. Does he realize that 30 Rock takes up 1/44th of the prime time programmingg he is responsible for.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Phil has bigger tits than Sophia.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
i was a little surprised that phil giving away his tix wasn’t a bigger story. saw it on sunday while watching the tourney and thought it was the greatest thing in the world. if tiger would have done it, it would have lead off SC instead of the SB.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
TBL, c’mon. You’re killing me with your awful taste in everything. I love FNL, but 30 Rock is lightyears better. How can people who run such a great site have such awful…forget it. I’m done. Sophia Bush is hot and cloverfield rules.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
As far as the Pryor thing goes, one day the Detroit press will say that he has to get him, and the next they say it wouldn’t be a big deal. It all depends on how they feel when they wake up. And to be honest, most of the sports guys for both Detroit papers suck.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
It was said before, in a little different form. But I know I’m in the minority on this one because she’s hot and all. But could we please stop getting Danica Patrick commercials and SportsCenter stories until she’s like won one single race or something like that?
February 5th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
the Detroit Free Press is the worst. mitch albom AND drew sharp? shouldn’t they pay you to read that swill?
February 5th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
phil micks is a hero. he once nursed a starving family of darfur refugees back to health with his own breast milk.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Of course that prick loves 30 Rock – the whole show is all about NBC, NBC shows, and the Rockefeller Building. FNL will get picked up by someone, even if it’s the lowly CW, I have no doubt, but when it was moved to Friday nights at 9pm, it’s like NBC intentionally signed FNL’s death certificate. Although I like that it leads into Vegas – I rarely go out on Friday nights (usually Th and Sat).
February 5th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Watch more 30 Rock.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
sure jgp…we’ll just replace her with another IRL racer. like, you know, um, that one guy. he’s a STAR!
i dont get the whole debate about danica (and anna k. and natalie gulbis before last year) having to win before they endorse products. do you really wanna see some anonymous IRL guy in her place? do you wanna see more serena williams (please god no)? do you wanna see any other chick golfer (that new one…hell yes, but she hasnt won anything either)?
who gives a shit if they havent won? they have nice boobies and are willing to put a lil fabric over them so i can fill in the rest. thats all that matters, not victories. i dont want to see serena’s T-Rex legs/ass or lorena ochoa’s pancake face. i wanna see ladies who make my libido start working again, and i could care less how many times they won.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
The commercials and celebrity, I get (sort of). What I can’t stand is that ESPN treats her like she’s a real race car driver that has a chance of winning. ESPN does stories more stories about her (as a driver) than anyone else, and she’s not even relevant (as a driver). Same thing with Dale Jr.. He’s one of only two drivers they cover. Dude hasn’t even won a race in like 3 years. This is why the audience should not be allowed to dictate content. Guys like Dario Franchitti, Helio Castroneves and Dan Wheldon shouldn’t be ignored by the real sports media just because they’re less marketable. They actually win races. Give them some freakin’ credit.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
TBL – I fully support your coverage of all things related to FNL, Lost, and The Wonder Years.
February 5th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
i will give them credit when they pet a beaver in a bikini on godaddy.com. until then? no fuckin dice.
in all seriousness…i agree, for the most part. but that’s why we consider ourselves informed fans, rather than mindless People-reading sheep.
as for Dale Jr. and Danica’s ESPN coverage…we all know the WWL has their favorites (Yanks/Sox, Pats, USC, Heat/Lakers) because demographics show they sell. if you want good, objective stuff…please tell me where to go on TV, because im reduced to only watching the golf channel (and even then…tiger overload).
and for ESPN to treat them like theyre talented, she DID almost win the Indy 500 a few years ago and Dale has won in the past. she could come back and win something. but i agree that there are more suitable people for stories who succeed. but have you seen an interview with those guys? BORING. its hard to do an interesting story on guys who devote their entire lives to racing and have a personality of particle board.
(sorry for the ADD rant, my concentration is done for the day and im goin to the Cavs game tonite so my brain is done for the day)
February 5th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
asusundevil, can’t say I’ve heard that one before. Freaking awesome.
February 5th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
Dornoch,
When the writers strike isn’t on, Thursday is NBC’s comedy night (Earl, Office, 30 Rock). Now, I can’t stand two of those shows (Office FTW), but NBC won’t move FNL into that night. Also, Thursday is the NBA on TNT doubleheader night, so it’s not like sports have the night off. And, I don’t think NBC really wants to see if FNL can take on CSI.
A better night would be Tuesday or Wednesday.
February 5th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
I was a huge fan of 30 rock… FIRST SEASON. Tracy Morgan used all of his good stand up material that season. Now it is the JD show. He is funny with his quick comments and cuts, but I must admit, FNL brings me back to early 90210 days meets Models inc. I don’t know where they are planning on going with the show next year, but I like it.
The better show than both of them is “How I Met Your Mother.” The guy from that hilarious trailer ‘Sarah Marshall’ is in it and it is more funny than 30 Rock (not to discredit it).
