Ballin’: Dame Mas Gasol-ina
Music, NBA February 6th. 2008, 9:04am
Sorry, couldn’t help myself. I’m nothing if I’m not a fool for bi-lingual puns. Each game gets an Easter Egg music video.
Los Angeles Lakers 105, New Jersey 90: Pau Gasol’s debut included 24 points and 12 rebounds (6 offensive) and 4 assists. It was a good thing Pau and Derek Fisher (28 points) were there because Kobe had an off night. It might have been a newly dislocated pinky finger on his shooting hand that forced Kobe into shooting 3-13 for 6 points. (And 7 turnover!) Vince Carter scored 27 to lead the Nets and Bostjan Nachbar added 19 and 10 off the bench.
Cleveland 114, Boston 113: Um, yeah. So LeBron James is pretty freaking good. 33 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists for the King without a crown. KG missed another game and Paul Pierce missed a point blank shot at the very end of the game to wrap it up. The Cavs lost 3 starters during the course of the game, which is why you saw an Ira Newble highlight on SportsCenter today. I hope you weren’t so disoriented you fell over and cracked your head. [Waiting For Next Year]
San Antonio 116, Indiana 89: Mighty Mouse scored 11 in his Spurs debut and some guy namd Tim Duncan scored 19 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and added 7 assists in the win. Tony Parker is still injured.
Philadelphia 101, Washington 96: Andre Miller dished out 14 assists and scored 11 points for the victorious 76ers. Rookie Thaddeus Young added 19 points and 9 rebounds.
Milwaukee 102, Memphis 97: Mo Williams, obviously incensed and motivated by TBL’s recent comments, scored 32 points and handed 7 assists to his less fortunate teammates in the Bucks win. Charlie Villanueva added 16 points and 16 rebounds as both players tried to prove that TBL had the wrong idea about them.

wizards keep falling and falling.
about the Shaq trade, I am dumbfounded by this move. Makes no sense to me at all. He wont benefit them at all. Shaq is finished in my book.
February 6th, 2008 at 9:12 am
Is there something to the theory that they havent won with Marion to this point, so why not try something radically different? I agree Shaq may not be the plan I would choose, but at least it shows they are willing to make a change considering the clock is ticking on Nash.

PP missed a point blank shot at the very end of the game? eh, i guess, even tho there was still a decent amount of time left.
oh, and you cant imagine how pissed people were at the Q after that fuckstain hit that completely meaningless 3 in the last seconds to ruin the Cavs (-3). degenerate gamblers…silly people.

This just saved the Heat, IMO. Getting Shaq’s contract off the books just opened up a ton of options for them.

I’m 95% sure there will be a Shaq and Matrix trade post later.
/Terrelle Pryor
/Seriously, there will be a post later

Marion isn’t the issue with that team, Sterlin. He’s awesome. I mean, they haven’t won with Nash yet, Amare yet, or D’Antoni yet, either.

Why trade for Shaq? Even an injured Jermaine O’Neal is better both on offense and defense. If they are going to run with Shaq, they better prepare tons of cans of oxygen for him…

CRM…im 100% sure that’s some funny shit.
Vince Carter looks like he’s counting Pau’s armpit hair in that pic. He sure as hell isn’t playing any defense.

@Spence:
What’s Defense?
Your friend,
Vince

its that thing you’re allergic to. that and also effort and bee-stings.

I think Kobe had an off night because it was the first time in months that he could afford to. As for the Celtics-Cavs, I think Boston still takes that matchup in a playoff series if everyone is healthy. But that is becoming a bigger and bigger “if” as the season wears on.

Leave the Wizards Alone!

I have no earthly idea why the Suns would want Shaq, but as a Heat fan who has watched him stumble around for the past 2.5 years, I couldn’t be happier. If you literally asked me “Hey Sean Jean, what is the worst combination of one team and one player in terms of it being a good fit?” I would without hesitation say Shaq in Phoenix. This makes no sense at all.

The Pacers suck. Good thing my tickets allow me to access the bar downstairs so I could watch Butler.
Pacers score 59 in the first half, 30 in the second. Just a God-awful team. Play the Knicks tonight, that should be a barn-burner.

John Hollinger’s latest article:
February 6th, 2008 at 9:39 am
Are the Suns that afraid of Pau? Kobe vs. Shaq just got a lot better. I’d guess the Suns realize they have to slow down in the playoffs and think Amare and Shaq together can’t be stopped.
February 6th, 2008 at 9:45 am
amare and shaq together cannot be stopped you say. duncan and oberto would crush them. Shaq is finished
February 6th, 2008 at 9:46 am
who exactly of that pair of amare and shaq would oberto crush?
February 6th, 2008 at 9:46 am
futureman i read your statement wrong and i apologize.
February 6th, 2008 at 9:48 am
I agree with Hollinger on this trade.
Great performance by Lebron last night. Tony Allen played as good a night of defense as you can play and Lebron still torched them. Not sure what it means but for the Celtics best defender, Tony Allen, stopping Kobe is a much easier chore. Nobody is better at fighting off world class defense than Lebron.
In reality though it was Ira Newble, Larry Hughes, Big Z and Damon Jones who did the Celtics in. Damon Jones only had 8 points but they were big. Nice mohawk he is sporting btw. After he hit one of his shots Tommy Heinsohn screamed, “I HATE DAMON JONES.’
Tommy is a homer but he usually doesn’t say stuff like that about anyone. It was pretty funny. Some people in Cleveland probably even agreed.

Shaq reminds me of when one of the old teachers in High School would jump in a pick up game at the gym for like 5 minutes and throw up some old school hook shots before they almost passed out. He is stiff as a board, can’t move at all, and constantly is out of place.
February 6th, 2008 at 9:51 am
Mike Tirico, Hubie Brown and Michelle Tafoya might want to buy a house in Phoenix.
February 6th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Dornoch…we’ve hated Damon Jones here for awhile.
and the Larry Hughes death watch is on hold again.
February 6th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Injuries are a big reason the Wizards are falling, Caron is hurt again, DeShawn Stevenson left the game last night.
It is getting frustrating, this team seems snake bit when it comes to the injury bug.
February 6th, 2008 at 11:59 am
By the way…I wasn’t saying in that article about the Cavs that they lost three starters in the game, they only lost Gooden during the game, the others were already hurt. And technically it was two because Varejao gets his 30 minutes off the bench.

Are we going to get a college basketball post today or what? How else am I supposed to gloat about the Vols beatdown of the Gators last night?
