Cobb, Party of 4! Now Seating, Cobb, Party of 4!
Baseball February 6th. 2008, 3:49pm
I was just forwarded an e-mail inviting me to have dinner with Ty Cobb. I was impressed since the man has been dead for quite some time now. I was also impressed because I’d never considered what it would be like to eat dinner with one of baseball’s greatest hitters and biggest racists.
If you have wondered what that would be like, The Lakeland Flying Tigers – minor league affiliate of the Detroit Walking Tigers – are offering you that opportunity.
The four act performance has been called, “entertaining, humorous, historical, splendid, and awesome.”
I’m guessing the reviewer didn’t have much of a tan…
Here’s the attachment from the original e-mail if you’re interested: (pr-ty-cobb-dinner-2008.doc)
My personal favorite part of the e-mail is that the link provided for the team – it doesn’t even work: http://www.lakelandflyingtigers.com/
Here’s the Flying Tigers’ real site.
Not. Even. Close.
Maybe somebody from GoDaddy.com should shoot the guys in the Lakeland Media Relations department an e-mail. Or maybe give them a call, their Outlook probably isn’t working properly.

ROTFLMAO!!!

This could very well be a hoax, but the FJM guys revealed themselves today, and Ken Tremendous apparently played Dwight Schrute’s weird-as-fuck cousin.

No love for Volcano? The sexual tension with Anne Heche was unforgetable.
February 6th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
He’s great in No Country For Old Men, too.
February 6th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
I think the Ty Cobb was a racist thing is a little over blown. I mean sure he yelled out slurs, but he yelled out slurs to everybody. Maybe he was just having a bad day/month/decade.

CRM, you have to realize that Lakeland is in Polk county, which we refer to as People Of Little Knowledge…

Hey Spence, that is me over on MJD’s comments. I only comment there to keep MJD from killing himself. I know i would if I had to deal with those commentators

Post Hijack!
Irish, one thing to watch out for with your Memphis boys:
• I am starting to think that Memphis cannot win a national championship because of the way it shoots free throws. The Tigers are ranked 323rd out of 328 teams in Division I in foul shooting. They were 21-for-41 from the stripe in the near-loss to UTEP last Saturday.

cbh i know i saw that game. it was played on a Saturday morning if you catch my drift.

February 6th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Hahah, I was reading Seth Davis’ column on SI, just trying to keep you on your toes.
I was saying that I was changing the subject basically.

Seriously, a great day for CoRM.
But then how is his own website is so weak?
February 6th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
gonzo taking off from work. check out that site you wont be disappointed.

@Nick-
That would make a lot of sense that they are writers; the stuff they come up with is consistently top notch. Their humor/sarcasm would be consistent with some of their credits on imdb, mainly Office writer/producer (Schur), South Park consultant (Yang), and Frank TV writer (King). Also, Yang & King worked on Last Call with Carson Daly at the same time (’02).
February 6th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
Uhh, Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada anyone?
Also, Spence, my sister was in that movie with TLJ and the Texas cheerleaders so, yes, I have seen it.
February 6th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
rittyrich…thats pretty sweet…that she was in the movie. i still hate TLJ.
BraveSrRob…awesome. i feel bad for him. Yahoo doesnt seem to be using his talent to the fullest extent. hopefully things improve. wish his old site was still updated, that used to be the funniest shit anywhere. Ron Artest’s Great Dane is still one of the best things in any archive.

I knew they were Hollywood writer-dudes (KT did a radio interview a year ago or so). I just thought it was funny that KT is the weird-o cousin. Also, I sort of pictured all of them to be *struggling* writers, though, not successful a la The Office or SNL.
