Ballin’: Cleveland’s Medical Facilities are full of Large Athletic Men
NBA February 8th. 2008, 10:39am
Houston 92, Cleveland 77
Yao Ming had a double double and Tracy McGrady fought through the flu as the Rockets won their 9th in 10 games. For the Cavs, Drew Gooden missed his first game of the season with a groin injury and Anderson Varejao missed his 5th straight with a sprained ankle. Oh, and Daniel Gibson left the game in the 4th quarter with a strained right hamstring.
[Edit: Shawn Marion did not play - should be in the lineup Sunday against the Lakers.]
Philadelphia 101, Miami 84
The Heat lost their 6th straight and have now lost 21 of their last 22 games. They have 9 wins and will probably still have games on national television. Super. Andre Iguodala scored 25 points for the 76ers and Andre Miller dropped 21 points and 7 assists.
Chicago 114, Golden State 108
Chris Duhon had a career high 34 points and 9 assists for the Bulls, and Joakim Noah led the team with 10 rebounds. Chris Webber played in his first game for the Warriors since 1994. He had 4 points and 2 assists in 12 minutes of action. The Bulls were missing Ben Gordon, Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich, but managed to win what was their 4th road game in 6 nights, even though Ben Wallace air-balled two free throws and finished 0-7 from the line.

Did Shawn Marion play last night for the Heat?
February 8th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Interesting that nobody felt bad for the Lakers last season, (whose starters missed more games in the NBA than any other than other) – yet still finished above .500 in the ridiculous Western Conference. It’s those kind of extenuating circumstances that make me laugh when people say “Kobe’s won nothing since Shaq left!†How about the year before where they took the Suns to 7 games, with eseentially nobody outside of Kobe.
Double standard! But when it comes to Kobe, that’s typically the case. Let’s face it, if the Cavs were in the Western Conference, we’d still be talking about LeBron having zero playoff series wins at this point.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:41 am
That should get things going in the comment section!
February 8th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Ben Wallace makes Shaq look like Larry Bird at shooting free throws.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:44 am
Yeah, the Lakers took the Suns to 7 games and with no help from the refs at all in game 4, when five lakers raped Steve Nash on national television and no foul was called. I seem to recall the suns winning 3 in a row (against a healthy lakers team-if you call having Kwame Brown in any way healthy) including a blowout in game 7 where Kobe gave up. What was I saying? Oh yeah, fuck the lakers.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Just kidding Cleveland. I felt like being uppity.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Anyone know when Shaq first suits up for the Suns? This weekend?
February 8th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Oh, and Daniel Gibson left the game in the 4th quarter with a strained BOOBIE.
/Fixed
February 8th, 2008 at 10:45 am
@cursed, Are you going to post that comment in every story today?
February 8th, 2008 at 10:45 am
@cursed – I agree
/hows that for argumentative commenting?
February 8th, 2008 at 10:47 am
@ Mike, I heard sometime in the middle of next week.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:47 am
What’re you talking about? Everyone talked about the Lakers losing their starters last year. That was also given as the reason that the Lakers didn’t win in the playoffs since they weren’t used to playing with each other.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:50 am
I think he is talking about two years ago.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:50 am
dwight howard will win the dunk contest this year at the all star game next weekend
February 8th, 2008 at 10:51 am
Also, should we be expecting a LOST post today?
“Because I have a man on their boat.” Awesome!
February 8th, 2008 at 10:51 am
I love how every Rockets recap has the Tracey McGrady fighting through something. Last night it was the flu. Tomorrow it will be the clap. Every other time it’s a bad back and a serious case of the ball hogs.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:51 am
irish we are about nick name you dicky v. you blow howard like he blows duke
February 8th, 2008 at 10:53 am
@Mike: Except for the ghost buster, you’re right. Another solid episode last night. But do we trust Patrick enough to post it? Does he have credentials? Where’s a TBL ruling on the subject? (BTW, I can totally picture TBL skipping out on his wife to watch LOST in a bar by himself on vacation).
February 8th, 2008 at 10:53 am
haha eman just watch the all star game and see. shit he may win the ALL star game MVP too. young moses malone shitting on every big man in the league right now
February 8th, 2008 at 10:57 am
I think the reason this is a bigger deal than Kobe is that Kobe has never led his much better supporting cast to the NBA Finals sans Shaq. Kobe has never led his much better supporting cast to a playoff SERIES win.
Lebron has led a rag-tag bunch of scabs to the Finals, and now most of those scabs (4) are hurt, and all that remains is a much, much worse (didn’t think that was possible) bunch of rag-tag scabs.
And didn’t Kobe basically quit on his team in the 2nd half of Game 7 vs. PHX? Superstars shouldn’t throw in that towel as easily as he did.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:57 am
osi shits on howard. and hookers.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:58 am
larry hughes looked good last night. those uniforms are SNAZZY.
his game still sucked tho.
February 8th, 2008 at 10:59 am
spencer btw cool it with that shit lol
February 8th, 2008 at 11:00 am
Unrelated. LSU fired head men’s BB coach John Brady. That was the scream of joy you heard from me. From Tyrus Thomas and Big Baby and the Final Four less than two years ago to the absolute doormat in the SEC. They should be able to draw a big name. This could be interesting.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:06 am
how can it be interesting? who would want to coach a team like LSU in basketball. they are the bottom of the barrell when it comes to SEC b-ball. that final four team was a fluke anyway
February 8th, 2008 at 11:14 am
so i look at the line up for nba tonight and think that we should be able to get lakers/magic at 7…right? No..fucking celtic/timberwolves at 8. how about some real games on the tube
February 8th, 2008 at 11:16 am
How come Imig gets days where there were like 2 games the night before. I have a full freakin slot to cover tomorrow. I swear the injustices in this world…
February 8th, 2008 at 11:22 am
irish…good one.
is KG even playing tonite?
February 8th, 2008 at 11:22 am
eman lakers vs magic tonight should be a good game. too bad you wont see it huh. you can see the highlights of dwight howard on sportscenter throwing down dunks left and right
February 8th, 2008 at 11:24 am
CRM, when things get tight in the ninth who did Joe Torre turn to?
Hint, not Bobby Ayala.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:25 am
LSU athletics has lots of money and a big-time recruiting base. They will bring in a big name.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:26 am
Can’t believe there isn’t more excitment about the Celtics game tonight. How many times in a season do you get to see Gerald Green playing his former team?
No KG tonight as far as I know. He might be back Sunday for the Spurs but I doubt it.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:26 am
CRM,
Imig is +1 in the intelligence category.
“Sure, TBL, I’ll do Thursday/Friday!” <>
February 8th, 2008 at 11:27 am
LSU athletics have all that money because of there football and baseball programs jgp3553. its not like bob knight is going to coach there so i have no clue what big name you are thinking of
February 8th, 2008 at 11:29 am
Kirk Herbstreit might know …..
February 8th, 2008 at 11:29 am
CRM…i dont mind if you half-ass ballin’ on the weekends. just keep the golf coming.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:31 am
Yes, more golf.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:32 am
The difference between the Cavs and the Lakers goes like this:
Bryant > Z
Bynum > Varejao
Odom >> Gooden
Fisher >>> Hughes
Walton >>> Pavlovich
Farmar = Gibson
Turiaf >>> Dwayne Jones
Ariza = Devin Brown
Vlad = Damon Jones
Vujacic > Newble
Mihm > Marshall
Mbenga = Simmons
Coby Karl A lot of guys that gets minutes for the Cavs (and yes all of us shoot as well as him).
Yes it hurt the Lakers standing in the west when these guys went down, but Kobe doesn’t carry a group of complete scrubs on his back the way LBJ does.
Yes, the Cavs have a number of guys (including starters) in the bottom 100 players in the league (this is how we got LBJ in the 1st place) and only a couple of above average players. And now with guys hurt they play and start guys in the bottom 50 players in the league. This has never nor will ever be the case with Kobe.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:34 am
Meant to say Coby Karl a lot of guys that get minutes for the Cavs)
February 8th, 2008 at 11:35 am
***Eric Snow better than a lot of Cavaliers who get minutes*** it keeps messing it up when I submit
February 8th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Why is Bryant being compared to Big Z?
Also you have to take into account the Lakers playing in the west where the 9-12 teams could make the playoffs in the east in most years.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:36 am
the celtics and timberwolves will simply not be a good game. no kg so you can’t hype that matchup. lakers v magic appears to be a good on paper. that and I can’t stand the celtics
February 8th, 2008 at 11:39 am
well, kobe and Z’s games are remarkably similar…
February 8th, 2008 at 11:40 am
i sure hope kobe is better than big Z
February 8th, 2008 at 11:40 am
yea, but hes only one “>” better.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:42 am
The message board is seriously changing up the crap when i submit it – of course LBJ is better than Kobe, Gasol >>> Z
February 8th, 2008 at 11:43 am
Kobe is so good he cloned himself and turned the second Bryant on the Lakers into a center and member of his supporting cast.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:46 am
eh…theres arguments to be made with that assessment. personally, i like Z a lot and think he adds a nice dimension to the cavs. when hes the 2nd option behind lebrizzle, yea, thats not a good thing, but he’s pretty good for a role guy.
at this point, odom is about the same player as gooden only without the mental lapses. odom hates being on the lakers and you can tell. he just doesnt give a shit. he’s gone before the trading deadline.
aside from that…i wouldnt want farmar over boobie, no matter what. boobie looks like he’s going to be pretty fucking good in the next few years.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:46 am
RD Says:
February 8th, 2008 at 11:42 am
The message board is seriously changing up the crap when i submit it – of course LBJ is better than Kobe, Gasol >>> Z
Oh but of course James is better than Kobe, that never could be debated
February 8th, 2008 at 11:51 am
Replace Kobe w/ LBJ and he TAKES Gasol, Bynum, Odom and the rest of the good supporting cast to an easy finals win (has anybody seen LeBron James play basketball? He’s always on national TV). That group might lose 1 or 2 playoff games total.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:52 am
must…resist…urge to…start kobe…vs. lebron debate.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Lebron is twice the player Kobe is.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:54 am
Kobe is three times the champion Lebron is.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:54 am
kobe is a better rapist.
too soon?
February 8th, 2008 at 11:56 am
Sterlin, no doubt Kobe has been on more championship teams. But no way is he currently as good as Lebron. It isn’t about supporting cast, it is about which guy is better. Watch the two of them play.
Kobe is guardable. Lebron is not.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:56 am
Actually, Sterlin, Kobe would be infinitely better as a champion than Lebron, b/c 3 divided by 0 is infinity (right?). Too early for math?
February 8th, 2008 at 11:58 am
So since Kobe has 3 rings and LBJ has 0, that means Darko is 1x the champ LBJ is and Horry is 2.3x the champion Kobe is???
Say something that’s relevant to individual basketball skills
February 8th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Bill Russell thinks people lauding Kobe’s 3 championships is quite funny.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Seemed pretty guardable last year in the finals. Kobe plays west teams all year.
They shoot close to the same FG% (.03 ADV. to Lebron) but Kobe makes up for that by being a much better FT shooter (.12 better). Kobe doesnt drive as much as he should, which I think is a valid criticism.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
True, I was mainly being a dick with the rings thing, I meant nothing by it. BTW, for a national site, TBL sure has a ton of Clev. fans.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
I wasn’t trying to start a LeBron/Kobe debate. I do think LeBron is having the better season (Kobe’s having a down year for him, yet still putting up 27, 6, 5). But, my point was to expose the obvious double-standard between the two. Kobe has done pretty well with some bad/injured teams in the past. The difference was that the Lakers are in the West, the Cavs are in the east.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
And I for one think Lebron is the better overall player (He is a 9.5, Kobe a 9.2 or something of the sort.) But, Lebron is certainly not 2x the player Kobe is nor will he ever be.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Once again, put LBJ on this Laker team, is anybody debating that the playoffs would be a joke? You put Kobe on the Cavs last year they do not make the finals. I get the east/west stuff, but one guy is the best perimeter player amongst humans, but LeBron is an alien and his numbers are already the best and will only get better. And yes the finals was rough as every single Cavs missed wide open jumpers for 4 games, but look at the Cavs record against the west the past 2 years, its very impressive.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
What are you basing that on RD. Put Kobe on the Cavaliers last year, and he hits jumpers and they win some games in the NBA Finals (see how fun it is to speculate!)
February 8th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
They wouldn’t have gotten to the finals, and not if he played like he did in game 7 against phoenix. Look everything is an opinion, but if you put Iverson w/ shaq, he’s a 30 point per game scorer w/ 3 rings and all of a sudden he’s better than LeBron too. The Cavs other 14 players are a COMPLETE joke. Every GM would rather have James.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Considering LeBron is about 7 years younger of course every GM would want James over Kobe, but that doesn’t say anything about who is the better player.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
And Lebron wouldnt have taken the Lakers past Game 4, Round 1 if he played like he did in the first game of the finals. Lets continue cherry-picking bad instances in someones career and using that small sample to base their entire career on.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
RD…you keep bringing up game 7 against the Suns two years ago. Do you realize Kobe had 22 at the half, and they were down 15. They lost by 31…their team was terrible. They only reason it went to a game 7 was b/c of how well Kobe played.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
@cbh: Oh but of course James is better than Kobe, that never could be debated.
We can debate this all day long, but at this point, isn’t it sort of like debating that the sun is purple, the Atlantic Ocean is neon green, or that Cleveland has hot girls?
Lebron is so much better than Kobe that it’s a complete joke to think they’re even on the same page. Same book maybe, but not same page.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Kobe Bryant – Where taking a bunch of “scrubs” to an eventual game 7 defeat in the First Round happens.
Lebron James – Where taking a much worse bunch of scrubs to the NBA Finals happens.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Kobe Bryant – Where playing the league MVP in the first round happens.
Lebron James – Where playing a one man team missing that one man in the first round happens.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Krying
Over
Being
Elapsed
February 8th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
@Sterlin: I thought it was a well understood fact that Kobe has been the league MVP since 2001. How can he play himself in the first round?
And would that be the same one man team that’s playing pretty good ball without him? Does that gunner Gilbert really drive that ship? I think Caron drives that team. Notice how’ve they been getting killed without him.
…and just for fun.
Lebron – Where winning AT LEAST ONE playoff series without the best center of the last 30 years happens
Kobe – Where not being able to win ANY playoff series without the above mentioned center happens
February 8th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
But to be fair, in his entire career, Lebron has never won a playoff series without Ira Newble. Kobe has done that.
+1 to Kobe
February 8th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
kobe > lebron
3 rings > 0 rings
being able to carry a team > trying to carry a team
defense > cherry picking
consistent shot > take it to the hoop to score
great > almost great
dwight howard > lebron & kobe lol
February 8th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
consistent shot = still only good 55% of the time, at best
LBJ to the hoop = a lot better than 55%
February 8th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
oh, and this argument sucks.
would i take kobe? hell yea. would i take lebron? hell yea. are either going some place else? so why fucking debate?
February 8th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
@irish: Find me an example of Kobe carrying a team, and I’ll jump on the Kobe bandwagon. Just one example.
consistent shot > take it to the hoop to score
Which has led to
Kobe misses more shots than Lebron > Lebron making higher %
February 8th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Kobe might demand a trade if the Lakers don’t have 3 of the elite centers in the game. I know he’s praising Gasol, but wait until that 1st 2-5 stretch, we might see him in another mall parking lot. Meanwhile LBJ will just keep putting up 31, 8 and 7 w/o a word.
And LeBron is better on defense currently (not over their careers) – PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT. He’s NEVER cherry picked, that’s Ricky Davis/Fatwain Walker territory.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
TBL Message Board: Where Nick comes in extremely late and doesn’t address the fact that LeBron would have zero playoff series win in the Western conferenceyet bashes Kobe for not getting past the Suns happens.
February 8th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
@Nick – I have no clue about the since 2001 thing. Guess you are refering to media hype or something.
If by playing good ball w/o Arenas you are refering to a .500 team in a miserable conference and a team that is 7-9 in the past month. The yes, the Wiz are fantastic.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
2005-2006 season leading the lakers back to the playoffs
81 point game ring a bell that season look it up and than you tell me if he carried his team and if Lebron will ever score 81 points
February 8th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Did Lebron say “Its that easy” referring to winning a title if they had Jason Kidd? Right he did, only he was in the locker room and not a mall parking lot
February 8th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
And yes Lebron throwing himself into people in the lane (and walking) does lend itself to a higher FG%. Too bad when he faces a real team (Spurs) he gets exposed and not to mention cant make a FT to save his life.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
@irish: Led them right to a first round defeat. Fucking ‘eh, strike up the band. I think they backed into the playoffs that year, too. Clutched their asses to a 5-11 finish. That’s what a superstar does? Loses over 2/3 of their games and prays the other teams around them collapse?
February 8th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
So David Thompson is a better player than larry Bird because he once scored 74 and Bird’s career high is only 60?
February 8th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
you said find you an example nick and i sure did
lebron has a lot of catching up to do
im done with this debate
email me back when you can find something bad to say about dwight howard
February 8th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Sterlin, the Spurs are the team that have dominated the West for the past 8 years. Detroit has been a real team over the last few years and Lebron gave them plenty of fits.
Point is, the Spurs keep coming out of the conference that Kobe is in. Lebron got to the Finals last year and lost to the Spurs. Has a Shaq-less Kobe squad ever gotten by the Spurs?
February 8th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
dorn god damnit i was giving nick p an example of how kobe carried his team that year. i also said that the 81 point game should ring a bell for that year.
lebron cant score those kind of numbers
February 8th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Howard sucks at free throws irish and it is the main reason he will never win a title until the Magic find Kobe to his Shaq.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
@Dornoch: Duh! Yes!
Tony Delk scored 53 in a game. Chris Paul’s career high is only 43, that piece of shit, ergo Delk > Paul
February 8th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
yes he does suck at free throws i know that
best big man in the NBA dorn and you know it
debate that, who can match up with dwight
February 8th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Willie Burton > Dwight Howard
February 8th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Acie Earl > Dwight Howard
February 8th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Linas Kleiza > Dwight Howard
February 8th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
see you cant debate that because you know how it is
howard shits on garnett. poor little abdominal strain. give me a fucking break
how many games has dwight howard missed in his whole career NONE
February 8th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Dwight Howard is good if you want to get swept out of the first round. Zydrunas has a ton more than Howard. I’d take him any day of the week. The same with Will Perdue, Dickey Simkins, Bison Dele, Nazr Mohammed. They all pwn Dwight. He sucks.
/See the problem with trying to place causality with one player and neglecting supporting cast? Give Lebron Shaquille as a teammate, first of all, and the Lakers have at least 5 rings (not 3), because Lebron wouldn’t have been dumb enough to run the Big Man out of town while he still had gas in the tank.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Really Dornoch? Why would the Magic need a Kobe to his Shaq? A “Kobe” is a useless piece, or are people finally going to realize that Kobe played a major part in those Laker teams and stop giving Shaq all the credit.
When has he won a title w/o a top three wing player?
February 8th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Again, the only reason LeBron was even able to “carry his team” is b/c he’s in the East. Conference matters in the NBA, yet LeBron nuthugges are failing to address this, b/c they know (wait for it…) that he’d have zero playoff series win in the Western Conference. One man teams can’t do that in the West. Doesn’t mean you’re not a superstar, just means the West is much, much, much tougher.
If you fail to concede this rather important point Nick, than there’s no reason continuing the argument.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Let Kobe play nightly in the East and he has 4 titles, three MVPs (Nash gets his 1), four scoring titles, four defensive player of the years, no rape charges, and four finals mvps.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
Umm, the Lakers only have 5 rings if Shaq defers to Kobe if he stays. You do realize that the Lakers didn’t win the title the last two years he was in town. It wasn’t working anymore. If you hadn’t noticed, Shaq put up Will Purdue-like numbers in the title run with Miami. He wasn’t the same Shaq. Don’t act like Kobe cost them titles b/c they got rid of Shaq “diminishing skills” O’Neal.
More revisionist history by Nick!
February 8th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
irish, you are going to have to yell when it comes to the Celtics. You and the Magic are so far down the valley we can’t hear you up here in the clouds.
Celtics > Magic
February 8th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Sterlin, you are really reaching now.
What team is Kobe playing for in your dream, the Pistons?
February 8th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
yes the team as a whole dorn i agree is better but like i said you cant debate with me about howard dominating everyone this year.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
what the hell is wrong with you people?
its fucking friday, i say we all get stoned and watch MJ highlights to put this debate to rest.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
MJ doesn’t shoot 55% in today’s NBA. He’s still a star, but no way he does that against today’s athletes.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Last 3 years:
Cavs vs. West — 16-14 (53%), 19-11 (63%), 14-9 (61%)
Lakers vs. West — 27-25 (52%), 28-24 (54%), 18-8 (69%)
So based on that data (fucking numbers), it looks like, at the very least, the Cavs with Lebron and his dogshit supporting cast would be at least as good as Kobe and his supporting cast. Of course this all changes with the addition of Gasol…as it should.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
And just think, when MJ scored 69 against the Cavs – just 12 more and he would reach Kobe’s unthinkable 81!
February 8th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Yeah you guys, you are missing a great debate in the hockey post about whether Lemeuix or Gretzky was better, wait no one gives a shit about hockey. my bad.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
@cursed: Here’s some more revisionist history. In the Finals versus Detroit (that LBJ just treated like a bunch of girls), Kobe was awesome. He totally torched Tayshaun and Rip. They had no answer for him.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Nick – you are right, they are even. Lebron loses in 7 and 5 to the Suns the past two years if in the west. While Kobe takes the East the last two years in the East (okay, Conf. Finals in year 1, he sneaks by the Pistons.)

Can Nick make an argument without using profanity? I think not! Firstly, you’re not comparing apples to apples. You know for a fact that the Lakers have had more injuries over the past 3 years. Secondly, when you only play a team twice every year – and each is a part of a massive home swing or massive road swing, things don’t necessarily even out over time. You’re not getting teams at their best necessarily when the Suns come to Cleveland in the 6th game of a 7 game East road swing. Plus, teams don’t know you nearly as well. So I don’t put as much weight into those. You know for a fact that if the Spurs played the Cavs 4 or 5 times a season what the end result would be.

I can solve this, get NBA Live 08 or 2K8, set up teams so LeBron is on the Lakers and Kobe is on the Cavs and simulate the whole season, then we will have the answer we are looking for!

nick gets mad when he gets proven wrong. love the effort though nick

And after that series, the NBA decided, “You know what, that’s not much fun to watch a superstar get fouled on each possession…so next time this happens, we’ll call fouls.”
Then you know what happened, DWade happened. Than LeBron last year. Not the same rules bro.

The debate is not which conference is touger, we know that to be the west (not even an opinion). As for most points in a game, grow up. The Lakers w/ Shaq and LBJ in their primes NEVER lose to the Spurs or Pistons or anybody. Same thing with LBJ, Gasol, Odom, Walton and Bynum (not quite there yet) in their primes.
LBJ is the better player clearly. Damn shaq for carrying Kobe to those rings.
THIRTY ONE, EIGHT AND SEVEN!
And LBJ did not dog ANY of his teammates, he just loves JKidd.

LBJ’s dogged his coaches and his teammates with backhanded compliments over the past two years.
LeBron is also terrible at reading a prompter (has anyone seen those TEAM USA commercials??) Kobe dominates those same ads!

@cursed: Just so we’re straight…Numbers don’t matter at all unless it’s the number 81? So if I have a bunch of numbers that say Lebron is a much more efficient offensive player, a better teammate, better passer, better rebounder, you can just trump that by saying 81?
I wish I could worship at the alter of 81. You’ve found a way to make logical thought and reason superfluous. I salute you.

By the way, in the spirit of full dislosure, RD/Nick/myself all went to OSU, and hung out, and had these same arguments with even less women hanging around 5 years ago.

The guy that cures cancer will forever regret that he didn’t score 81.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
And now that I think about it, we could all just instead make a three-way conference call and spare TBL of this nonsense
