Top Shelf: Mike Modano, a Hero to All
NHL February 12th. 2008, 10:02am
Our daily hockey recap is penned by freelance writer Lee Diekemper.
Dallas 2, Phoenix 1: Here’s Mike Modano and his talented and attractive wife, Willia Ford. It’s very likely Ford had a warm greeting for her husband when he returned home from work last night. Trailing 1-0, Modano set up the first of two third period goals for the Stars and scored the game-winner with just under four minutes left in regulation. The Stars have won seven straight and have a seven-point cushion as a second seed in the Western Conference. The win streak shows some of the Stars’ young defensemen are maturing quickly. As for the win, it’s possible the Dallas Stars Ice Girls are happy, too.

Willa Ford does nothing at all for me. Her face weirds me out and her tribal arm band tattoo is a huge minus.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:13 am
its not tribal…its a staff with musical notes. i got stoned once and tried to play the song on the tattoo, i think the notes are just random.
“hey im a musician! see my tattoo? it has notes! want a BJ?”

I still have my Mike Modano North Stars Jersey. He was my favorite player as a kid.

Sean, it must be the really cheesey smile that turns you off.
here is one of her tame pictures. OK for work.

He played pee-wees with Gordon Bombay
February 12th, 2008 at 10:16 am
While Modano was good, he’s beaten out by Bellows, Neal Broten and Ciccarelli (when he was wearing pants, of course)
February 12th, 2008 at 10:18 am
Willa Ford is definitely a 1.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Dave Gagner was a favorite of mine. Especially playing Strat-O-Matic Hockey. Yes, they had hockey.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:30 am
I’m still looking for a Basil McRae North Stars jersey.
And, you guys are crazy. I’d wreck Willa Ford in a heartbeat, lameass tattoo or no lameass tattoo.

s1rweeze +1
Only thing better was a buddy’s Probert Blackhawk’s jersey.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:37 am
Nah I’ve seen Willa before, aside from this pic. I’ve seen her p-boy spread too. She’s just very “meh” to me. Goofy ass face, incredibly plastic body, and then that tattoo. Oh the tattoo…..
February 12th, 2008 at 10:39 am
I had a Dale Hawerchuck Winnipeg Jets jersey when I was younger.
Ford’s armband tattoo is definitely a minus.

So is this NHL blurb just going to to review the previous night’s games and show gratuitous pictures of random wives and girlfriends with ample assets? There was a significant trade yesterday that will definitely imapct the Eastern Conference playoff race (at least) and nary a mention in the NHL blurb.
If so, it makes this section seem like a big waste of time to Me. That and the many errors that show up (Crosby’s contract status, the number of points separating teams, etc.).
February 12th, 2008 at 10:44 am
Hmmmmm….easy fix then: Don’t read it and shut your pie hole.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:49 am
at least spell her name right if youre going to do something like this. as ive said before, you suck
February 12th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Back to the matter at hand – it appears that Les Jackson and Brett Hull are riding a hot streak with this team – there have been very few changes since Doug Armstrong was fired, but the team has played better since Armstrong was removed. I wonder though –
Would Tippett really go with Mike Smith is Marty Turco looks shaky in a playoff series?
Do the Stars have enough scoring to compete in a playoff series?
The young defenseman are playing well, but how much can Robidas and Zubov carry the blueline in a playoff series? I remain skeptical that Niskanen and Grossman can continue to play this well in the playoffs untilt hey do. That makes Me a bit of a Doubting Thomas, but if the Stars face Colorado, Calgary or Nashville, those teams will present a tough challenge.

TBL, Is there a way to ban Jesus from commenting? He is obviously a troll.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:51 am
@HawkEye19 – I’m asking before I stop reading it. A very simple question with I guess a very simple answer.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:52 am
A troll? How so?
February 12th, 2008 at 11:10 am
There’s a small rumor that the Stars would be willing to actually trade Turco. They feel Smith is their goalie of the future.
And yeah, i’d like to see trades discussed here. That Ottawa-Carolina trade is a big one, but I don’t think it signal’s the Hurricanes are packing it in the way others are suggesting
February 12th, 2008 at 11:12 am
Jesus, I think everyone’s miffed at your comment because you’re basically saying a hockey post is a waste of time if all it’s going to discuss are scores from the week. That being said, I agree with having some information included about significant hockey moves since the trade deadline is approaching.
February 12th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Don’t fuck with tha Jesus, mang.
February 12th, 2008 at 11:23 am
I made the troll comment before you came back with your other post. Personally, I don’t think the first post was necessary and you could have just used your second one as a lead in and then maybe made a comment about the lack of content in the NHL postings. While I do agree with you, that the content in the NHL posts are lacking sustenance, I don’t think you went about it in the right manner.
Now with all that being said, this is going be a great end of the regular season. There are a lot of good teams vying for playoff spots and I am hoping we can get some good trades in before the deadline.

@CRM “you are out of your element”. “oh and dude, I don’t believe that Chinamen is the correct nomenclature”
February 12th, 2008 at 11:47 am
I remember when Willa Ford debuted, and she said she was a female version of Eminem–when that was actually a good thing. Oh, how time flies.
February 12th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Jesus offers some astute hockey commentary. Who knew?
February 12th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Sorry for the furor. I would be the last One to upset the online High School cafeteria, but I just wanted to know and asked. It’s usually the best way.
For the record, I follow hockey (not religiously, but close enough) and was excited when the web site decided to introduce a hockey post. However, I find the quality of the posts lacking and while I am completely aware that I don’t have to read it, I just wanted to clarify a point.
February 12th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
@jibblescribbits1:
I know the Stars like Smith and they think Stephan could be a backup as soon as next season. However, I doubt Hull and Jackson would be willing to move him during the season. The off-season (to Tampa?) would be more plausible.
I have read/heard rumors of Marian Hossa being traded to Dallas, or Dallas having interest in him if he is made available (more than likely, I think). I don’t see what Dallas could offer if Don Waddell sticks to his guns and holds out for a roster player along with prospects and draft picks.
February 12th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
@sportgal116:
Is that not accurate? If the point of the post is to be about hockey, or at least the NHL (no mention of the Beanpot?), shouldn’t it include significant transactions? I don’t think this site would want to discuss the Krys Barch signing, but a big trade that doesn’t get mentioned?
I’m not trying to cause a ruckus or make a big deal out of what is a truly trivial matter. I understand that the main point of the post is to show pictures of “attractive” women in various states of undress – I get it. That’s the way this site is heading and so be it. If the hockey posts are only going to discuss the games, no problem. I’ll move on and get My hockey fix at another site.

@The412:
It beats talking about REligion (see topic sidebar).
Besides, it’s a natural – you know, only so-and-so saves more than Me. That sort of thing.
February 12th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Jesus, what is the Beanpot? I know it seems to involved Massachusetts areas teams but is it part of the college hockey regular season or something completely different?
I didn’t watch it but based on the scores I saw from the Championship Game and the Consolation game it sounded like it was entertaining.
February 12th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
I just noticed something, Mike Modano’s hands look like the size of Godzilla in this picture.
* I originally typed hands as nads, that would have been quite the typo.
February 12th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
@cbh,
If Modano’s hands aren’t a forced-perspective camera trick, it would certainly explain the dorky grin on Willa’s face.
February 12th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Jesus has a long history in hockey, and it starts as he is a phenomenal goalie remember… Jesus Saves!
@ Jesus: I could actually see a Turco-Hossa trade in the season this season. I don’t think Turco will be traded until the offseason, but he’s on the table and the right package could pry him free.
