ESPN’s Holly Rowe is a Rebounding Machine
College Basketball, ESPN February 19th. 2008, 4:03pm
Despite an impressive resume, we’re not so sure about the Texas Longhorns as a No. 1 seed. Kirk Bohls of the Austin-American Statesman? He thinks it should happen. The Longhorns’ impending trip to Kansas State, followed by a trip to Lubbock for a date with the desperate Red Raiders? No matter. (Our dimestore opinion: The offensive-minded Longhorns, who we think still struggle in the halfcourt offense, are a bloated No. 2/3 seed, and fail in March because they rely too heavily upon the three.) Still, overwhelming props to Bohls because his column contained this nugget: “…suddenly resurgent D.J. Augustin, who showed up at the gym at 11 a.m. Monday to take 300 shots with ESPN sideline reporter Holly Rowe as his chief rebounder.” Is Holly Rowe really capable of boxing out Damion James?
Texas basketball team can make case for No. 1 tournament seed (Statesman)

February 19th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
The Longhorns don’t give a shit about their seed as long as they land in the Houston regional.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
IE, cannot see it.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:24 pm

you go to that site and one of your first thoughts is: how can i keep my kids off the internet? forever?
the thought of having teenagers right now is incredibly depressing

While I agree with your assessment TBL, Texas is one of those teams, a la Arizona a few years back, that guys can all get hot at once and make a run. Especially considering they would match up well with Duke, Memphis, Tennessee, and as we’ve already seen, Kansas. They’d probably have more trouble with a Georgetown, Stanford, or Washington St.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
come on TBL…i hate to whine like a bitch but i cant see anything
February 19th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
I have Firefox and all is well
February 19th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Wrong UT for the #1 seed.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Can’t use Firefox at work, use it sparingly at home, what makes it better than IE?
February 19th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
@Gonzo: Ditto. I have Firefox at home, but am not allowed to change the IE here at work.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Tenn will still be a #1 seed after they lose this weekend? i think not Sean Jean.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
UNC will gladly take that #1 seed if Tennessee loses, and UNC will reinforce they deserve that #1 seed by beating Duke at Durham and then again in the ACC tournmaent, Lawson will make all of the difference.

Even if UT does lose to Memphis this weekend, I don’t think that eliminates them from a #1 seed. Losing to the #1 undefeated team on the road isn’t exactly the end of the world. Plus there is a lot of basketball left to be played, so other teams are sure to lose as well.
That being said, let’s hope it’s a moot point and Coach Pearl and the boys take care of bidness.

butler not sure what to tell you, man. you see NOTHING?

+1 Irish
February 19th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
I’ve got both IE 7 and FireFox on mine, FireFox works fine, IE shows the Beano Cook headline, but nothing at all below that. Not the body of the post or any earlier post at all.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Is that a Cade McNown jersey?
February 19th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
aikman
February 19th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
One seeds are most likely to be Memphis, Acc champ, Tenn and Big 12 Champ (unless its K St, in which case Duke/UNC or UCLA would get the 1 seed).
I think UCLA will lose again.
If Duke, UNC, Tenn all have the same record who gets left out? I say UNC
February 19th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Can’t see anything beyond the Beano post title either. I’m using IE w/ no other option at work.
February 19th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
I’m having trouble seeing anything below the Beano Cook post. The page abruptly stops just below the title of that post. I’m using the most recent version of IE.
February 19th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
same here
February 19th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
I think you’re wrong about Texas. Ever since they got healthy, and Gary Johnson and Connor Atchley have stepped up, the halfcourt offense has gotten MILES better. I think they’re hitting their stride at the right time and, provided they stay healthy, can make a run come March.
