Pitcher CJ Wilson Gets His Blog On, Gets in Trouble
Baseball, Blogging February 29th. 2008, 4:24pm
Curt Schilling needs to give Rangers pitcher CJ Wilson a crash course on how to blog.
OK: Hammering the media.
Not OK: Generalizing baseball players as douchebags in a blog post: “Come on man you have to admit the median or average guy in a baseball clubhouse does drive an SUV, drinks beer, golfs, likes college sports, chews or dips tobacco and is relatively a douchebag.”
A fantastic recap of it all can be found here. Included is this wonderful nugget – Wilson is such a straight edge that he got those words tattooed on his body.

His favorite wrestler is CM Punk.

He’ll get no flak from me. That pretty much sums up every low-level baseball player I’ve ever known…so I’m sure the pros are no different

I just assumed most ball players were the way Wilson described. You know, because stereotyping is totally straight edge.

I applaud him for saying what he feels. I get so tired of the damn cliche/canned answers, that as long as an athlete is honest (almost regardless of what he says, as long as it’s not something terribly injurious), I’m fine with it. He could’ve taken it one day at a time after facing a lot of adversity from the standpoint of…………..

As a former ballplayer through college, he has a point.

@Spencer–for Atlanta suggestions, I’d recommend the Virginia Highland area (it’s about 3-4 miles from where you’re staying), Midtown (closer to you), or Little 5 Points…All of those are kind of laid back/chill type places, but still with smoking hot ass and lots of bars. In Midtown, be careful where you go, because there are lots of gay-centric places. And judging from some of your comments, I figure that’s not your scene. Stick with Front Page News or Twisted Taco in Midtown and you’ll be okay. In Virginia Highland, you should hit up Neighbors’, Hand in Hand, Dark Horse, or Atkins Park. Little Five has Brewhouse Pub or another Front Page News…
I feel like I belong on a double decker bus with a microphone. Sorry…Oh, and if you’re more of a “gentleman’s club” type of guy, there are about a trillion options. Pink Pony is the best, in my opinion.

atlanta…thanks man, big help. personally, not a strip club guy but if some of the higher-ups wanna head over there, i’ll happily pass along the suggestion (and tag along).

@spencer
Judging from one of you comments earlier this week, you might enjoy the Twisted Taco.

i too enjoy candid comments from players. it’s so rare that i rarely listen to what players say. it’s all jibberish if not untruths.
but i can see why this guy doesn’t meld with his teammates. not everyone enjoys politics or talking about politics. it’s not always polite conversation.
he kinda makes himself to be above these guys. he might be. but it’s not kosher to admit to the likes of jeff pearlman.

i laughed…then i cried because im still at work on friday and figure to be here at least another hour+

I am shocked – shocked! – that this guy supports Obama!
February 29th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
I wonder why he hates SUV’s? It cant’ because of the emissions as he’s in a profession that flies private jets probably 30 times a year. Not sure why someone who dislikes Bush and hates the Clintons would like Obama, but you never know about people’s politics.

I am a douchebag.
