Top Shelf: Dallas Has Another Star
NHL February 29th. 2008, 11:16am
Just like Ferris Bueller did, they’re dancing in the streets in Dallas. Lee Diekemper is here to tell you why.
Dallas 7, Chicago 4: In his first game with the Stars, Brad Richards racked up five assists. While expecting five assists in a game is a bit much, raise your hand if you didn’t expect Richards to shine with the Stars.
Boston 5, Pittsburgh 1: Oh, no! After the Pens gave up a boatload for Marian Hossa, he suffers a sprained MCL to his right knee in his first game. Preliminary reports say he’s out a week. Goalie Ty Conklin was yanked after allowing three goals in 13 shots in the first 21 minutes of the game.
New York Rangers 4, Carolina 2: The Rangers got a key win to stay above water in the playoff race. Brandon Dubinsky and Sean Avery netted first period goals. Does Elisha Cuthbert still care? The officiating was “abysmal.”
Philadelphia 3, Ottawa 1: Flyers fans are giddy. Mike Knuble’s two third period goals give Philly a win streak. Yeah, just two wins in a row, but it beats losing 10 in a row. Jesse Boulerice returned.

Bueller? Ferris Bueller?

So all you people who had Forsberg in the “First Major Trade Deadline Acquisition to get injured” pool pay up. Of course I don’t think anyone had Hossa.
I did have Hossa in my “First major trade deadline acquisition pool to disapeer in the playoffs” pool though. I’m still up for that one

If Hossa doesn’t flourish playing on Sidney Crosby’s line he’s pretty much branded himself as useless. I’m betting that Hossa doesn’t disappear this year. Though he will disappear for the next 7-10 days.

Jibble, I have a feeling that Vinny Prospal will not show squat in the playoffs. He has been with quite a few teams in his career, and after watching an interview last night, he seems to be a jerkoff. It wont be as big a flop as would Hossa or Forsberg, but it’s hinky.

Yeah Hossa-Malkin-Crosby is a beast line. If Hossa doesn’t have a good playoff run, he’s going to be “Point getter on a loser”for his entire career. There’s no hopes
Yeah I’ve never seen much on Prospal. You gotta respect a guy who basically rips his coach on-ice in front of a packed house right after a game though right? I mean that kind of stuff plays well in Philly doesn’t it?
February 29th, 2008 at 11:50 am
LOL! He’d instantly become a fan favorite there.

Yes that always plays well. Keep this in mind. Our coach John Stevens
played with Prospal with the minor league Phantoms back in 1996. If Vinny is gonna rip his coach, he better be prepared to drop the gloves. and half of the current team played under coach Stevens in the AHL a few years ago. that will NOT fly in Philly.

Ok, with the current coach it wouldn’t fly. But a coach like Tortarella it would probably fly right?
February 29th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Tortarella is a mean SOB, isn’t he?
February 29th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Yeah, but a lot of people like him because he’s really outspoken and brutally honest.
