Philadelphia 106, LA Clippers 88: Are the 76ers just a good post-player away from the playoffs in the East? They have four young, quick, agile scorers and a shot-blocking pogo-stick in Sam Dalembert, but sorely lack a legit post presence. After a strong end to last season, a poor draft set them back a bit. We’d like to see Philly make a move on Indiana’s DJ White or perhaps UCLA’s Kevin Love, if he’s around in the mid-teens when the 76ers are likely to select.

New Orleans 100, New York 88: The depleted Knicks (no Zach Randolph) kept it close for 45 minutes, and then Chris Paul sparked a late 10-0 run and the Hornets remained on the heels of the Spurs and Lakers for the best record in the West.

Utah 116, Dallas 110: Twenty-four hours after dropping an OT thriller in LA, the Mavs ran out of gas down the stretch as the Jazz went on a 16-0 run and were a perfect 18-for-18 from the line in the fourth quarter in upping the best home record in the NBA to 25-3. Deron Williams scored 17 points and handed out 20 assists. AK-47 went down with a hip injury and didn’t return.
