Top Shelf: O’s Grinning For a Reason
NHL March 4th. 2008, 9:03am
Lee Diekemper recaps the night in the NHL.
Washington 10, Boston 2: Alexander Ovechkin went nuts, scoring a hat trick (in the first period!) and finishing with five points. Don’t worry, we’re not going to credit or blame AO’s Russian e-mail girlfriend. That punchline’s getting old. AO now has 52 goals.
San Jose 6, Montreal 4: The Sharks have won six in a row. Brian Campbell’s spin move in the third helped. Jeremy Roenick is talking about returning to the Sharks next year.
Anaheim 3, Ottawa 1: The defending Stanley cup champions have also won their sixth consecutive game. As usual with a win streak, solid goaltending helps. Jean-Sebastien Giguere recorded his 30th win, the third straight season he’s accomplished that. In his last 11 starts, Giguere has a 1.26 goals-against average. Could coaching be in Chris Pronger’s future?

The Caps are looking really good right now. I have never seen DC this excited about hockey in the 5 years that I have been here.

Speaking of D.C. anyone else sitting in the “Virtual Waiting Room” trying to get Nationals opening night tickets?

People here in Ottawa are freaking out about the Sens’ play of late. I’m probably enjoying it a bit too much.

@Sterlin: I was debating on going. What is it looking like? Are prices off the charts?

burnside made a great point in his article yesterday. the last non playoff player to win the heart was mario in 87-88. gretz had 19 less points (missed 20+ games). unless ovie pulls double digits away from the guys behind him who will probably make the playoffs, have fun making love to the richard trophy

Sold out…I got fried by the site. Could have gotten Upper Level for 30 which I didnt think was outrageous. Damn ticket websites clogged the shit up.

also, hilarious that the pens have had several chances to go top and blew them, but without playing last night they are now the top seed in the east. for a few hours at least

@Sterlin: I have found a great site called Goldstar. It is great for sports and theater. I don’t know if you can actually search for tix, but they send out weekly updates on specials they are having. I got 75 dollar seats to the Wild/Caps game last week for 45 bucks.

I think it’s funny that the Caps score TEN goals and the only thing mentioned is Ovechkin.

Thanks for the tip PKI, just signed up and may buy tixs to the Caps/Flames game next week.

@Sterlin: If you buy the 45 dollar seats, they are right behind the goalie on row K.

I knew the Federov deal was a bad move for the Caps. What’s his line? 1 shot, -2, 0 A, 0 G.
March 4th, 2008 at 10:54 am
Hahahhahah, Fedorov had a minus 2 in a 10-2 win? bahahahhahahah
