The Roundup: The Two Week Countdown
Baseball, College Basketball, High School Sports, Movies, NBA, NFL, NFL retirees, Pop Culture, Television March 6th. 2008, 8:00am
Here’s one we can all agree on – Lacey Chabert … when it hits $110, we will begin to look at hybrids, and if those are too expensive, we’ll just get a bike … remember Ashley Cheryl Cole appreciation week? That was fun … regarding Wednesday’s Bill Cowher post, a reader writes in that the former Steelers coach was up at Penn State because his daughter Lindsay was on a basketball recruiting trip … this Patrick Swayze news is quite shocking, right? … so is the news that John Wooden was on the floor of his condo with a broken wrist for seven hours before anyone helped him … two weeks from today, the NCAA tournament begins!
That guy who always tears it up for the Cavaliers is going to be on the cover of Vogue with Gisele. (Page Six)
Surprisingly, not everyone thinks Shaun Rogers is a perfect fit in Cleveland. (Waiting for Next Year)
Was the loose oil tank lid that advantageous? (The Finish Line)
Yeah, can’t believe Warren Sapp’s retirement has garnered such little coverage. (Cousins of Ron Mexico)
Entourage fans, beware: Kim Kardashian is coming. (Mavrix)
A one-armed high school wrestler in Maryland. (Scott Van Pelt Style)

Good call on Lacey Chabert, TBL. A friend and I were discussing her the other night…totally underrated.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:14 am
Wow, last time I saw Lacey Chabert she was an angst filled 11 year old on Party of Five. I like the new Lacey MUCH better.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:15 am
No, Edwards punishment was not too much…I always liked Sapp…I actually got into a verbal war with a guy in a sports bar because I was wearing a Sapp jersey back in the day during a Bucs game. CRM, how did you hear about the HIPHOPSODASHOP?
March 6th, 2008 at 8:16 am
Dirty – You need to watch “Not Another Teen Movie”. Lacey, Chyler Leigh and Jaime Pressley make the movie worth watching alone.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:24 am
Wasn’t it Cheryl Cole appreciation week? I mean, I appreciate what Ashley does on the pitch, but I’d much rather look at Cheryl in the morning.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:27 am
I love me some Lacey! I need Lacey in a nice Victoria Secret’s lacy number…
March 6th, 2008 at 8:34 am
Good catch, Jack. Last day of the flu, swear. First morning I didn’t wake up and take medicine.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:36 am
I think Foster wrapped up the SEC POY last night for sure. He is an unconscious shooter at home. Really impressive. On the road though, not quite as much.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:37 am
thats pretty sad about John Wooden. also, i have no clue who this Lacey chick is but she is good looking
March 6th, 2008 at 8:39 am
@Roeth: Don’t forget about Mia Kirshner, arguably the best of the bunch.
So if you put a one-armed wrestler in a traditional half-nelson, does it become a full-nelson by default?
March 6th, 2008 at 8:40 am
I think Lacey looked best in Mean Girls. Lacey, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfriend, Lizzie Caplan (even though they ugged her up), not to mention Lohan at her absolute apex … there was SO much hotness in that movie.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:41 am
heres hoping that mma movie kills that shit off
tbl, cnn finally has reported on the dog video, but they just linked to another news site
wah wah wah youre getting death threats, stfu
March 6th, 2008 at 8:43 am
gotta disagree…rogers is PERFECT for the browns.
ive seen photoshoots of that lacey chick, but havent seen her in a movie or on tv…what has she been in?
March 6th, 2008 at 8:43 am
@jack: Better than John Tucker Must Die? Think hard.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:44 am
Mean Girls had better overall talent – Jack gets the W, fer shizzle.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:49 am
why is winnie cooper showing up in the cheryl cole link
March 6th, 2008 at 8:54 am
I wasn’t saying “best ever,” I was saying “best Lacey (and oh-by-the-way the rest of the hotts on display were awesome too).” And anyway, there are no losers when we compare the talent in those two movies. We’re all winners right now.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:02 am
Lacey was also good in “Not Another Teen Movie” where she played the Jennifer Love Hewitt character and delivered a fantastic line at the end.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:04 am
agree on Mean Girls … great movie
Lacey Chabert’s been in a ton of stuff, but she started out in Party of 5
March 6th, 2008 at 9:06 am
Another nice pic, sfw:

March 6th, 2008 at 9:08 am
Regarding Cheryl Cole appreciation week, I think we need a “themed” display for all the afternoon roundup pics. We could have “Girls of ‘Mean Girls’ week”, Baseball WAG week, etc.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:09 am
I am sick over what happened to John Wooden. Why isn’t someone living with him to make sure things like this doesn’t happen? He’s 97 years old!
March 6th, 2008 at 9:10 am
female shot-put week? anyone? aw…
March 6th, 2008 at 9:11 am
Let’s just get to Ballin’ and see how irish likes this:
“We know this [conference] is going to be won by one of three teams, and this is one of them,” Celtics forward Kevin Garnett said after the 90-78 win over the Pistons.
The third team that Garnett was referencing was the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the Cavs haven’t been a measuring stick for the Celtics the way the Pistons have.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:13 am
Job well done on Lacey…nice …anyway..the 20th anniversary of the greatest TBS movie of all time, Road House, is not so happy…first the blind guitar player who’s acting was so phenomenal in Road House that he never acted again (why screw with perfection) dies and now the immortal Patric Swayze has the Pancreatic Cancer..I was actually upset to hear that, that movie is fantastic I mean Swayze at his most Swayze…hopefully you get better but the truth is Pancreatic cancer is bad news.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:15 am
I can’t stand Sapp. He was so overhyped because of his loud mouth. The stats that he got on that team were largely because of the immense talent around him. One of my best friends is a lifelong Tampa fan, and he hates him too. He’s the one who pointed this out to me.
I mean, he was good. I’m not saying he sucked or anything. But he wasn’t as good as people regarded him to be back in the day–it was largely due to his defensive teammates and his mouth.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:16 am
@tuna- irritate me when your cavs get 40 wins like my Magic
March 6th, 2008 at 9:18 am
Roman…the blind guitar player wasn’t an actor, he was a musician. and one helluva guitar player, blind or otherwise.
Jeff Healey if anyone cares.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:33 am
Spencer…I understand the talent of his guitar playing..but his acting was god awful at best in that movie and he was involved in a bunch of scenes…part of the charm of Road House
March 6th, 2008 at 9:36 am
agreed. just so we know he wasnt trying to be a good actor, i think we’re on the same page.
and road house is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. fuckin wesley still pisses me off.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:37 am
I think you could say ALL of the acting was god-awful in that movie. Nonetheless, it’s still a classic.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Best Road House moment was Terry Funk _trying_ to run. I didn’t know if was possible to run without bending your knees….
March 6th, 2008 at 9:42 am
I’m glad Warren Sapp isn’t getting the attention right now. I can still remember when he was with the Bucs in his prime. Either he or Keyshawn Johnson was being interviewed every single week on those preview shows. Sapp was good, but he and Keyshawn were the Romo/T.O. of the late 90s/early 2000s. Yes, I know they won the Super Bowl. But Derrick Brooks and John Lynch were just as responsible too.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:44 am
@jgp–see my comment above. I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m not denying Sapp was good. But he was completely obnoxious, which got him more attention than he deserved.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:50 am
God bless John Wooden. I remember an anecdote from Mike and Mike (one’s fat, one’s gay–not sure which) when they talked about how John Wooden writes a love letter to his dead wife every day and then leaves them at the cemetery when he visits her grave. Think what you want about UCLA, but Wooden is the man on and off the court.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:53 am
Question. We have the term chick-flick. What do you guys have for your movies? Roadhouse is clearly one of them. My husband watches it every time it is on…
March 6th, 2008 at 9:54 am
I thought Warren Sapp retired years ago, who cares about him.
I will always remember him running his mouth against Nebraska in the Orange Bowl, and then huffing and puffing and doing nothing as Cory Schlesinger ran all over the U in the Orange Bowl to win Tom Osborne’s first national title.
Lacey is hot and Not Another Teen Movie is hilarious, and highly underrated.
March 6th, 2008 at 9:59 am
Good question. My wife just calls it a guy’s movie. The problem is, there isn’t anything that rhymes with “guy” or “man.” Or even anything that sounds good with it. Maybe the minds on this site can come up with something good that could stick?
March 6th, 2008 at 9:59 am
Biggest upset ever: Lacey Chabert becoming hotter than Neve Campbell and Jennifer Love Hewitt combined.
March 6th, 2008 at 10:06 am
Busy day…
But I have a couple quick thoughts to share:
1) Lacey Chabert – motorboat
2) Roadhouse – Kelly Lynch showing some skin. Good times. And a great quote: “I used to fuck guys like you in prison”.
3)
March 6th, 2008 at 10:11 am
Oh, come the Favre on! I don’t have the Favre to Favre about Warren Favre-ing Sapp! Favre-ing-A!
March 6th, 2008 at 10:18 am
guinessgirl: dick flick?
March 6th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Jax you are the winner.
March 6th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Anyone going to miss the All-America Football league?
Yeah, me neither.
March 6th, 2008 at 10:25 am
Jax very nice…or test-fest…
March 6th, 2008 at 10:31 am
guinness: that made me laugh out loud…I’m using that (with full credit to you, of course!)
March 6th, 2008 at 10:39 am
Am I an idiot for not getting what test fest means?
March 6th, 2008 at 10:48 am
testicle festival
testfest/dickflicks could merits a post in and of itself. Remember this in August when nothing is going on in the sports world!
March 6th, 2008 at 10:55 am
I’d vote for dickflick.
March 6th, 2008 at 11:04 am
I concur. Dickflick is the obvious choice.
March 6th, 2008 at 11:47 am
Djimon Hounsou has been nominated for two f’n Oscars in the past five years, TBL. I think that qualifies him for rarer status than “the guy from Blood Diamond.” Then again, he was in Constantine…
