One thing we can all agree on - when Duke and North Carolina get together to play basketball is that we all hate 1 or more of the teams involved.
Do I need to recap the history of the rivalry? Ed Cota and Jeff Caple were once involved. How much more historic can you get?
There’s been new twist to the rivarly as the coaches have started to act like teenage girls. An ESPN persepective:
Any and all insinuations from one that the other is (A) dirty, (B) soft, or (C) all of the above and snide to boot set off an imbroglio that would make the Hatfields and the McCoys blanch.
I would have went with something a bit more contemporary than Hatfields and McCoys - perhaps a Magnum P.I. reference - but what do I know?

Duke/UNC is the biggest rivalry in sports!
Until the Yankees play the Red Sox, on ESPN–which will then become the biggest rivalry.
Until Ohio State plays Michigan, on ABC–and so on.

Two things:
1. Peyton and Eli Manning are sitting in the front row of the student section, and they just got a nice view of the kid wearing a speedo.
2. The announcer had to apologize to people for the speedo kid making an “offensive gesture” when the camera was on him. I can’t believe I live in a country where a kid thrusting his hips is offensive.

The “hip thrusting” is really a “suck my knob” gesture - which is why they apologized.

see, i paused the game early and basically watched it on a slow fast forward … so hardly any vitale. the speedo guy doing the SUCK IT thing was quite funny, though.

Wait, why were they apologizing for that Speedo dude? ESPN has shown the stupid profile of him all damn day on SportsCenter & College Gameday, doing all of this stuff. I changed the channel every time it came on (which was like every half-hour on ESPNews).

tbl…singler’s been averaging 14.6 in the 6 games since maryland, a shade over his season average. Yes, his outside shot is off, but he’s been pretty effective around 10-15 feet recently…especially in the second half (see the Virginia game).
nelson needs to settle down…I suspect he’ll have a big second half.

Have you look deeper than his PPG.
* 7 games since Maryland game - 6 games shooting under 50%. 5 games shooting 40% or below.
* only three blocks in 7 games
* shooting more 3’s than earlier this season
* 0 double-figure rebounding games (4 through the first 23)

Wow. That was an incredible game last night, even with the end result. Cameron was as loud as any place I’ve ever been in. Duke shot 32% from the field, which makes it pretty hard to beat a #1 team when you do that. They did play great D on Hansborough though, and my view after watching him play is he will not be even a legitimate role player in the NBA. If undersized Duke can trip him up with passive double-teams, how is he going to match up against guys bigger, stronger and faster than him in the NBA? Anyways, hopefully Duke gets another shot at them in the ACC tournament.
