In Honor of the Rockets and Mount Mutombo
NBA, Video March 12th. 2008, 12:29pmShane Battier does a mean Yoda impression, right? The Rockets travel to Atlanta tonight in hopes of capturing their 20th win in a row tonight. The Rockets are six-point favorites and beat the Hawks in February, 108-89 (but Houston had Yao and the Hawks didn’t have Bibby). We’re also going to use the comments section to update the Syracuse-Villanova game. Cuse trail, 44-42 with 11 minutes left.

Stokes a long three and the Cuse are down 10. 9:30 left … but Syracuse has fallen asleep on D, Nova’s hot, and the Cuse offense is sputtering.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
cuse can’t stop inbound plays on their defensive end
March 12th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Nova can’t miss from three … Reynolds buries a fadaway three and the deficit is 13 with seven minutes left ..
March 12th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Rockets will win tonight.
Time to vent, I can’t stand Gary Williams. Saw him on TV yesterday whining in a roundabout way about how it is harder to big conference teams to get in the tournament now, so that smaller conference teams can get more bids.
What a bunch of bull, I don’t remember hearing Gary whine when his teams were actually good and weren’t on the bubble every year. Did they not take enough large confernece teams then?
Maybe if your team had taken care of business at home, against American, Ohio, a lousy Boston College team, not blown leads at home to Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Duke, you wouldn’t be making the NIT your almost annual desitnation.
Rant over.

must be nice to be able to watch a game right now
slackers
March 12th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
Any reason why people care so much about the ‘Cuse?
Dikembe is the man.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Good. I’m glad Nova is winning. I’m tired of Cuse being on the bubble every year with another mediocre season.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Well, the Cuse are sliding off the bubble … down 14 with 6 left … Villanova can’t miss from three, i think 8-for-9 this half.
So Cuse out … Nova in?
Or would Miami leapfrog Nova?
March 12th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Miami leapfrogs Nova, the ACC is getting 4 definitely, 5 maybe.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
All I care about this week is that the Bucks stay in. Any chance of that happening if they lose to MSU Friday?
March 12th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Its days like this when its great to have LocationFree, Sony’s version of the Slingbox.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
I hate Syracuse. As A Pitt fan, the only other Big East coach I like is Jay Wright.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
my canes are in damnit. A LOCK to be in
March 12th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
Please post the obligatory shot of Jim Boeheim with his hands interlaced on top of his head while in disbelief of his team losing so I can get the full effect.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
Yeah, I say Miami over Nova as well. Nova is doing well today but doesn’t have the overall season to put them in unless they beat Gtown.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
@coop- that link didnt work but i apprecaite the help
March 12th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
65-47 with 5 mins left … Harris and the SU big man have 4 fouls … NO SHOT
March 12th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
give me your fax number TBL so i can send you the memo
March 12th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
Roeth - best I could do
March 12th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Shit. Heres the link
March 12th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
I think it was Gottlieb last night that said something to the effect of, the winner of Villanova/Syracuse isn’t off the bubble (in a good way), but the loser definitely is (in a bad way).
March 12th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
That Yoda impression is garbage. Way too deep of a voice.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Ben- so who is doing the bracket thing here. is it TBL or you?
March 12th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
at least when nova wins we get to see a rematch of g-town and nova
March 12th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
If anyone cares, Dayton up 3 on SLU with a minute left. Have thrown 2 of the last 3 inbounds right to SLU.
March 12th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
keep us posted on dayton … flyers were favored by 6
March 12th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Villanova I think should be in, but probably will have to beat Georgetown to get in. The committee seems to have some sort of weird dislike for the Big East, especially since they expanded to 16 teams.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Cuse is out. Miami over Nova unless they beat Georgetown. Ohio State is out if they lose to Michigan State.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Nova 80-63 with 1:02 left .. warm up the bus
March 12th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Dayton-SLU 55 all going to OT. Roberts hit a runner with 21 seconds left but refs waived it off, offensive foul. Dayton stole ball and missed two shots as clock expired.
SLU ended regulation on a 10-1 run.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
GREAT update, keep them coming
yahoo is taking forever to update that one …
March 12th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
SLU gets to blow the cover in OT now.
Fantastic.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
ESPN scoreboard lists Dayton as a 58-55 regulation winner?
March 12th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
I am following the scores on ESPN.com, why does it say Dayton 58-55 final?
March 12th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
They just switched it to OT
March 12th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
WOW, wild stuff … Yahoo has it 60-58 with 141 left … Karl Ravech just said it’s over … WHO IS WATCHING?
March 12th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Apparently Dayton hit a 3 at the end of regulation?
I’m quite confused.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
60-59 Dayton with 1:38 left in OT, SLU ball. Listening at work on streaming feed from 1290 WHIO out of Dayton.
Don’t have stats but I would say Dayton has 7+ turnovers since 3:00 left in regulation. Cannot beat SLU full court press.
Doesn’t look like Dayton will cover unless they start to get fouled in the last minute.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Wow if I was a Dayton fan following the score on EPSN.com I would be pretty pissed right now.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
This is one of a number of reasons why you follow scores on yahoo and not espn.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
“Doesn’t look like Dayton will cover unless they start to get fouled in the last minute.”
That’s what’ll happen, and they’ll win by 6.
What a tease.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
Haha, ESPN doesn’t even have the score now.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
61-59 Dayton, 1:12 left.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
“This is one of a number of reasons why you follow scores on yahoo and not espn.”
Right, but then if you’re following on Yahoo! (as I am), and think it’s in OT, then multiple people tell you it’s over…one gets quite confused.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
62-61 SLU with 0:50 left, old school 3 pt play.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
keep those updates coming
ESPN is talking about Georgetown. Can’t they cut into this game? Or watch it and tell us what is happening?
March 12th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
63-62 Dayton with :32 left. Marcus Johnson has all 8 points for Dayton in OT.
Roberts has been double and triple teamed all day. SLU playing a box and one.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
all about the U! canes are in now i think..
March 12th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
63-62 Dayton Wins. SLU missed a 3 at buzzer, didn’t seem like a good shot on the last possession.
I hope Xavier wasn’t watching the final 8:00 minutes of this game.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
is Top Flight wright playing?
March 12th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
WHEW.
I want Dayton dancing
March 12th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
@irish:
I’m running it, but TBL and I are currently exchanging e-mails on the best way to do it and the best way to post it up here.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
More comedy, I was watching ESPN in the lounge and the bottom line had a score of Dayton 93 - SLU 84 in OT.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
George Mason > Dayton
March 12th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
@Ben- just let me know
March 12th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Wright did not play.
Didn’t catch the beginning of the game so I didn’t hear if they said anything about him dressing. There was in article in the Dayton Daily News yesterday about how he would dress but didn’t know about playing time.
March 12th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
who wants to sex Mutombo?
March 12th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
@412: +1.
We all did this site a disservice when it took until post 57 to get that quote out there.
