If we were the A-Team, then our NHL writer, Lee Diekemper, would totally be Face. Here’s his recap of the night in hockey.

Washington 3, Calgary 2: Olie Kolzig got his 300th win, thanks in no small part to Alexander the Great’s game-winner with two minutes left. AO now has 56 goals in his march to 60 (and beyond?). Nicklas Backstrom is still bummed about his game-winner for the Pens Sunday.

Anaheim 4, Vancouver 1: The defending Stanley Cup champions look to be a tough playoff obstacle in Orange County. The Ducks beat the Canucks for a team-record eighth straight home win, chasing Roberto Luongo in the second period after he gave up four goals in 19 shots. Luongo has started 19 straight games and 35 of the last 37. Think he just might be a bit cashed?

Pittsburgh 7, Buffalo 3: No Sid the Kid? No problem! The Pens, perhaps the favorite NHL team of Finland, blasted the Sabres while Sidney Crosby rested his gimpy right ankle. The Sabres meanwhile are hurting.

Florida 4, New York Islanders 2: Rick DiPietro did not enjoy his March trip to the Sunshine State. He gave up a total of 10 goals in a span of a little over 24 hours in losses to the Lightning and Panthers. Karlis Skrastins’ unassisted goal midway through the third won the game for the Panthers, their fifth straight. Is the Isles’ logo one of the worst?

Toronto 3, Philadelphia 2: If the postseason began today, the Flyers would sneak into the playoffs as the eighth seed. But after losing consecutive games to the Maple Loafs, last night without Matt Sundin no less, what’s the point? The Flyers have four-game sweep written all over them. At least Flyers fans can look forward to more expensive tickets next season.
