Ballin’: Make it 21 for 21
NBA March 15th. 2008, 11:52am
Rockets 89, Bobcats 80
Tracy McGrady scored 30 points and the Rockets beat the Bobcats 89-80 on Friday to pass the 1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks for the second-best consecutive wins streak in league history. Jason Richardson scored 28 in a losing effort.
Jazz 110, Celtics 92
Deron Williams scored 32 points and had 13 in the 4th quarter to help the Jazz snap Boston’s 10 game winning streak… on the road. Williams also had 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Eight Jazz players scored at least 8 points and Utah upped its road record to 16-20 – and bumped Boston’s home record to 29-5.
Pistons 84, Spurs 80
Rip Hamilton scored 25 and had an old fashioned 3 pointer with 20 seconds to go to help down the Spurs by 4. Tony Parker scored 26 for San Antonio, in a game featuring the two best teams of the decade competing in a (zzzzzzz….. zzzzzzzz…..zzzzzzzzzz…..zzzzzz)….
Hornets 108, Lakers 98
Chris Paul scored 27 and dished out 17 assists while Kobe Bryant finished with 36 points and 9 rebounds. A season high attendance of 18,199 witnessed the battle between the 2 MVP candidates, and saw Paul’s streak of 24 straight free throws come to an end. He’s officially screwed.
Nuggets 137, Raptors 105
The Nuggets jumped out to a 44-23 after the first 12 minutes leading to the Nuggets’ 5th straight home win. Allen Iverson scored 28 and Carmelo Anthony had 22 points and 6 assists. Denver is now 39-26.

Sick man, sick. 1 through 7 is separated by 2.5 games.
As I said yesterday, the Rockets will probably take the top spot from the Lakers Sunday. Now if my Hornets can only beat Detroit on Sunday and take it away from Houston on Wednesday….(I doubt it, but I can dream)

I think the Lakers game on Sunday is huge for the Rockets. I personally think they’re a great team but if they lose, everyone will say the winning streak meant nothing blah blah blah. Go Rockets

celts need to bounce back after that dismal performance last night. color commentator tommy heinsohn, the biggest homer ever, was in rare form once again last night. the celtics have the best record in the nba and he thinks all the refs are out to screw the team.

How long does the three point line have to have existed before a basket and a free throw stop being referred to as an “old fashioned three point play” by announcers?

the battle between the 2 MVP candidates
Wait, the Hornets traded for LeBron? (I kid, I kid) I temporarily had a “Worldwide Leader” moment.

@Butters: The more time passes, the more old-fashioned that play becomes. It’s here to stay!

Will the 1971-72 Lakers get together for champagne when/if Houston’s winning streak is broken?

If they can get it up to 25 or 26 and beat the Lakers and Hornets (among others) in the process, they have to be considered the favorites over Boston, Detroit, L.A., and San Antonio. Even with McGrady’s history. I mean, it’s not a fluke–they’re running teams out of the gym.
