2008 Culture Bracket: The Office vs. 30 Rock
2008 Culture Tournament March 20th. 2008, 2:53pm
Easily the best two comedies on television. Why is The Office the higher seed? Because it’s one of our favorite TV shows. But 30 Rock is very good, too. We just aren’t nearly as obsessed with it. We anticipate this one being close.
Again, here’s the full bracket in case you missed earlier matchups and would like to vote. Each night around midnight, voting will close.
Who wins: No. 4 The Office or No. 13 30 Rock?
- 4 The Office (78%, 694 Votes)
- 13 30 Rock (22%, 191 Votes)
Total Voters: 885

30 Rock
March 20th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
If 30 Rock loses, will Alec Baldwin leave the country?
March 20th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
I havent watched much of 30 Rock, but the Office is head over heels better.
March 20th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
It’s really close. I’m going 30 rock.
March 20th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
Marquette is about to run away from Kentucky…
March 20th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Everyone is gonna have to think LONG AND HARD about this one…
(Ben I’m setting you up)
March 20th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Have to go with the Office.
March 20th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
30 Rock is better than the Office. Sunny in Philadelphia is better than both. Case closed.
March 20th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
30 Rock.
The Office has clearly peaked already.
March 20th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
That’s what she said.
March 20th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
I was torn at first but then I asked myself if I missed an episode of either one, which one would I be angrier about. In the long run, I went with The Office.
Oh and Marquette/Kentucky is a great game.
March 20th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
@Gonzo: No, no sir. This one is all yours.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Damn, Hef beat me (and you) to it.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
I agree with benji, always sunny is better than all.
“Night Man, sneaky and mean.
Spider inside my dreams.”
March 20th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
The Office, even though Tina Fey is so funny and sexy.
/Fey is neither of those things
March 20th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
You’re wrong, clown. Dead wrong. Tina Fey and her facescar are hot.
Pistols at noon.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
This culture bracket voting really shows you how many people do come to this site
March 20th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I have to agree with Hef. Tina Fey is F.I.N.E. and she looked tremendous on SNL a few weeks back.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
I love a woman with a scar on her face. It shows that she knows better than to argue with you.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
I agree Irish. 105 votes in the first 15 minutes is insane. Ya know what’s weird? I rarely go to Deadspin anymore. We may not be as funny as the Deadspin commenters, but we know our shit about sports.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
@irish: That, and the fact that we ended up with 500+ brackets in the ESPN pool.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
I love both, just started 30 Rock this year, but the Office is my favorite show
March 20th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
@gonzo- i have never even bothered with that site. Ever
im loyal to TBL
March 20th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
TBL commenters vs. Deadspin commenters
Pistols at noon
March 20th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
that would be great
March 20th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
i dont think there has ever been a serious sports discussion over there
March 20th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
Well irish. i’d like to think I am loyal to TBL (although TBL may disagree with that, haha). But it’s not like sticking to one supermarket or one type of soda. There’s so much time in a day, I frequent up to 20 blogs in the course of a week. And it doesnt take any time away from me visiting here.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
@benji: I’m in. But I also started drinking an hour ago. Took the afternoon off.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
we should all go there at the same time one day and just berate the hell out of everybody on that site
March 20th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Shrutes produce thirsty babies.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
someone wanna call in a bomb threat to my office? ill grab my gun and take down those snarky emo bastards.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
pistols at noon? with deadspin? …….count me in…you fuck with me you fuck with the whole trailer park biyatch!
March 20th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
So when do we get to vote for LeBron over Kobe?
March 20th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
I won’t get “commenter approval” over there because I’m not WASPy enough
March 20th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
TBL should set something up with deadspin. a little contest of some sort
we all would smoke that crowd
March 20th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Spence, who do you think came out on top in last night’s draft. I’d say 412.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Happy Birthday Jesus. Sorry your party was so lame.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
OK, let’s not start sucking each other’s dicks just yet fellas. I know we are a tight knit group. But what exactly do you wanna fight them about? this isn’t a damn competition lol.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
30 Rock was much more consistent this year so far. This year’s The Office episodes hint that it’s getting tired. Nobody, not even Michael Scott, is so fricking ignorant to drive a car in a lake because “OnStar toldhim to.” The Office has been vastly superior, but the gap has shrunk considerably.
On another note, South Park is 2-for-2 so far in its latest season. That Britney Spears episode last night was priceless.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Hef…yea, i like 412’s team, have to agree with that one. it could be because every other player, whenever they get drafted, the reaction is, “do i really have to take him this early?”
but 412 got A Rod so…
March 20th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
30 Rock stars Alec Baldwin, which eliminates the show from consideration.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
I’m angry but I don’t know what to say…
RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!
March 20th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
That’s it! Tom Crean looks like a hair gel-less Steve Lavin on Tuesday night.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
tom creen looks like a sexual deviant.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
The episode with “Prison Mike” and the dementors had me rolling.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Nobody, not even Michael Scott, is so fricking ignorant to drive a car in a lake because “OnStar toldhim to.€
Great point, that was a low point in the season for me as well.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:39 pm
The 30 rock episode with pee wee herman was brilliant.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
the end of the UK is amazing
March 20th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
But what exactly do WE want to fight them about?
/fixed
you either with us or against us gonzo…otherwise to quote jibblesscribbits1 who was quoting south park rabble rabble rabble!
March 20th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Spencer, I’ve never seen someone more upset at drafting A-Rod than 412.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
i know im waaaay too new to say that but whatever
March 20th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
I hope I don’t miss out on The Wire vs. Stuff White People Like. When is that one due to tip off?
March 20th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Rick - Kobe vs. LeBron is tonight. Starts around 545ish.
The Wire/SWPL is going to probably be Monday.
March 20th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
MrEJR - no worries mate. You’re my caucasian.
March 20th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
You’re one of us now mrejr. Whether you like it or not.
March 20th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
This season:
30 rock > The Office
March 20th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
“I was torn at first…”
– that’s what she said (going to hell)
March 20th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
@MrEJR/Gonzo:
I wasn’t really making fun of Gonzo, but more the idea of arguing about two great shows of which one is better.
March 20th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
They both suck. I’d rather listen to Shrutebag than watch either of these shows.
