The Main Event: If you weren’t watching UFC’s Fight Night 13 last night then allow me to introduce you to Kenny “KenFlo” Florian.

Last night Florian moved atop the list of top contenders in the 155-pound weight class as he pummeled Joe Lauzon. The fight was stopped due to strikes in the 2nd round. Florian repeated landed blows from the mount position until referee Herb Dean stepped in and stopped the violence. If Kenny doesn’t get a title shot by the end of the year a great injustice has been done to the fans.

Didn’t see that coming: The most surprising result of the evening has to be that of the Houston Alexander – James Ivrin fight. I alluded to Alexanders propensity towards quick results yesterday, but didn’t expect him to be the one on the receiving end of the quickest knockout in UFC history.

Interesting fact: Alexander is 36 years old, yet to this day no one has ever seen him on his feet for more than 4 consecutive minutes.

Also worth mentioning: Nate Diaz executed a celebratory triangle choke to beat Kurt Pellegrino; Gray Maynard physically dominated Frankie Edgar; Thiago Alves put Karo “The Heat” Parisyan out of commission with a knee before finishing him with strikes; Matt Hamill suffered a nasty cut to his lip before pummeling Tim Boetsch in the 2nd round; Clay Guida only needed one round to force a stoppage over Samy Schiavo; Tommy Speer got knocked the F*** out(!) by Anthony Johnson.

Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest: The premiere episode was packed – showing 5 fights and highlights from 3 more (Expect the same next week.) as 8 fighters were kicked out of the house before they even got to see it. Forrest and Rampage both provided humorous moments throughout the show while Dana White sat in between them and spoke like a robot. (”Bleep bleep bleep”)

MMAinstream Acceptance: This season on TUF if you look at the middle of the octagon you’ll notice the Burger King logo. (King 3000 may be the only one who can understand what White says.)

Good Idea: Having Forrest and Rampage talk about their fears for tie-ins with The Ruins. Sure the movielooks terrible, but at least we learned that Rampage is scared of “demons and spirits and things he can’t beat up.” (If you’re looking for an athlete with the personality of Shaq – look no further than Jackson.)

Bad Idea: After contestant, Jeremy May submitted Dave Roberts – Rampage’s longtime friend, whom he used to tell people was his brother from a different father – May taunted Rampage repeatedly and awkwardly. Before the fight Rampage was working with his friend and caught May watching. Rampage then told May, “Mind ya business.”

I can’t be sure, but it sounded like when Will taught Ashley to fight in one of the early episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Is Rampage Jackson actually quoting the Fresh Prince? I can’t say for sure, but I can tell you that May tried to give it back to Jackson afterwards, telling Rampage to mind his business. Except he didn’t say it in nearly as menacing a manner as Rampage. His voice wavered when he said it and he kept saying it over and over – to the point that Rampage told him to back off. I have to say I wouldn’t encourage anyone to taunt one of the biggest bad asses on the planet. Even if Dana White did say Rampage “looked bigger on bleeping television.”
