The Roundup: The tale of the old hockey player

Elizabeth Hurley is a lot like Brooke Burke: famous name, beautiful and yet, somehow we forget about her. Not today, because she deserves our attention and affection.
If you Google her, you will find many more quality pictures, with less clothing. Like this one.
Awesome: 96 year old hockey player not named Gordie Howe. [MLive]
Dan Snyder isn’t running background checks on new employees – and announces their signings in the wee hours of the morning. [Washington Post]
The Chris Beanie Wells Heisman campaign is under way. [Waiting For Next Year]
Interesting to think about: the Moneyball Era of MMA [AOL Fanhouse]
Update on the Kevin Slaten/Dave Duncan radio confrontation: one man is now unemployed. Hmmm, I wonder which one. [STL Today]
TBL friend Jeff Passan writes a bizarre column displaying his dislike for Cardinals fans and the organization. [StlSportsMag]
KSwiss made me look too. Good lord. [CNBC SportsBiz]
He’s okay: NASCAR’s Michael McDowell walks away from a horrible crash, with photo evidence. [Foxsports]
Bye bye, Eric Gordon. [Orlando Sentinel]
Haha… Chris Henry now has ankle accessories. [SI]
Seniors Guillen and Contreras have “WORDS” with each other [Chicago Sports]
The Blue Jays officially signed off on 2 deals that could reach $115 million in the end. Neat. [Toronto Sun]

“Griffey hits a long drive, but it’s TOO HIGH and will stay in the park.” – Harry Kalas on Griffey’s second at-bat.
That’s right, our announcer is stealing lines from movies.

My 2 favorite chicks when I was in my teens were Mira Sorvino and Elizabeth Hurley. Good call Imig.

That Yahoo! sports column is some serious tripe.

Anyone watching ESPN classic? Michigan-Kentucky F4 from 93 is on. Man, I loved the Fab 5. Prior to this was the Duke79, UNLV77 game from 91. Good day!

Good call on Classic, TBL. Mashburn was so good.
UConn/Duke from ‘04 on next. Wish they were showing the ‘99 game instead.

I’m completely out the loop on this Dave Duncan thing. What happened? Do you have a link?
I really dislike the Cardinals from way back, but I go to about a dozen Cardinals games a year. I have no problem with their fans though. They seem decent and knowledgeable enough. That being said, I must have missed the law that says you have to wear ugly, faded So Taguchi and David Eckstein t-shirt “jerseys” if you are going to the game.

Jay, Imig did a full post on this earlier this week. Search his posts. I think it was Monday or Tuesday. Good stuff.

Gonzo, thanks. On first glance, I’m going with the Cardinals here. That’s not where I usually stand on this. I’m a First Amendment guy. But maybe the guy wasn’t fired because they caved in to the Cardinals. Maybe the station grew a conscience and/or dumped him because he’s a dick. It’s funny how sometimes a lot of people who scream the loudest about the First Amendment do nothing of real value or merit.
