Final Four Nightcap: KU vs. UNC
College Basketball April 5th. 2008, 8:52pm
Memphis has advanced to Monday’s game with a relatively easy win over UCLA, which has now lost in the Final Four three years in a row, and full expects the Buffalo Bills treatment in tomorrow’s LA Times from TJ Simers. Who will Memphis play, UNC or Kansas? It’s all about Arthur and Kahn slowing down the magnificent Tyler Hansbrough, who prior to the game made 400 jumpers, did 300 push-ups, baked a cake, and ran a food drive at the Alamo. His Will relaxed in a hammock.

OMG, did anyone see Stewart’s kneecap? That was nasty. I may try to pull the video from Red Lasso in 30 mins. That shit was concave!!
April 5th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
For anyone who is used to me being a sane, logical person, that is not going to be true for the next two hours or so.
ROCK CHALK
April 5th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Anchorage, from all places. I’m guessing he didn’t play outside much?
April 5th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Yeah, that was nasty. Not as bad as Livingston’s last year but damn
April 5th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Me and you Vegas…..I’m completely with you. Never let you emotions put too much on your favorite team…..
April 5th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Never let you emotions put too much on your favorite team…..
They’re not my favorite team. I just thought they were good wagers.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Texas could have really used Arthur. Wow, next to James, he’d be nice. How’d he get out of State?
As for Alexandria, VA, that’s near my hometown.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
No, that was for me……Stupid, stupid, stupid….
April 5th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Hansbrough throws up so much shit that goes in
April 5th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Nice to see them attacking TH
April 5th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Fucking stupid shot by Rush, you idiot.
Ellington can’t get open looks.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
ellington and his first shot is huge
April 5th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Billy, their legs look heavy because Kansas is the best fast break team left in the tourney
April 5th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
Well that’s a good lesson on how not to run a two on one fast break.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
Look at TH, hands on knees already
April 5th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
billy calls it. unc looks slower than normal. Freak. Its 3 minutes in.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
missing 2 FTs? Weak Chalmers
Wow, what a block!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
They are getting whatever the fuck they want. Should be 15-6. Good start, though.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Have Packer and Nantz not seen Kansas all season? Or is the UNC bandwagon THAT overloaded?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Hah, if you think TH is tired now TBL, you’re crazy. You’re hate for UNC is palpable. S’all good tho, just good to know where you stand
April 5th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Before last game I would have said KU vs. UNC was the two most athletic teams left. This one will include HUGE runs both ways.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Or is the UNC bandwagon THAT overloaded?
That one.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
@jsands-Don’t take the bait man. He’s messing with us. TBL knows better.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
What, I can’t put a lime in my own bud anymore?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Jim Nantz spent the first 3-4 months of basketball season watching the Patriots…he doesn’t know shit about these teams
April 5th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Catch the fucking ball Arthur. They should dump it inside every possession.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
You mean there’s not a CBS-themed restaurant in Lawrence, KS?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Arthur is looking good.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
damn, 2nd on Kahn
hopes this doesn’t mean we have to see that big fat dude with the military haircut … oh, snap, here he comes
April 5th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
2 on Kaun. Fantastic. Exactly what I was rooting for.
Saying that Kaun and Aldrich are interchangeable is misguided.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
The fact that Tyler is a Communications major has me severly confused.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
where will the UNC offense come from with Hansbrough out?
Green?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Cole Aldrich, another n a long line of over-rated Minnesota kids.
Granted, I wish he was playing for the Gophers.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
The fact that Tyler is a Communications major has me severly confused.
Well played, sir.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
yup, turnover instantly for UNC
April 5th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
UNC’s not thinking. They just need to weather this until they get into their game.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Nobody on KU except Chalmers should be taking outside shots right now. Inside. Every time.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Has Chalmers even attempted a shot? Get this kid some looks, Bill
April 5th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
The Stuart Scott School of Communications, dawg
April 5th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
I think that Roy Williams’ tie just took years off my plasma.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
UNC has NOBODY with Hansbrough out of the game
April 5th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
UNC’s offense has no clue.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Has Chalmers even attempted a shot? Get this kid some looks, Bill
I don’t disagree, but can’t really complain about the offense so far.
Too many touch fouls on the outside.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Stevenson is more of a rebounder and thompson will get his 10, but that’s it.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
the freshman big on KU needs to know his role. NOTHING creative. ever. run and jump and defend and rebound.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
23-10!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
23-10!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This start is just going to make the loss that much more painful. At least I can enjoy myself for the moment.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Quick, who can look up the Heels biggest comeback of the season? Was it in the ACC tourney vs. VT? That was a nice one … too bad KU has a SLIGHTLY better offense
Was it at Clemson
April 5th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
The contrast in interior defense by the two teams so far has been staggering.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Never fear. I saw Tyler Hansbrough’s Will at the scorer’s table. He’s ready to check in.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
UNC’s only hope right now is to get KU in foul trouble and get to the line.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
KU at its best is better than UNC at its best, this I knew coming in. Didn’t know that KU would bring its best, seeing how this is a Bill Self team. That being said, I haven’t given up yet, way too early.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Never fear. I saw Tyler Hansbrough’s Will at the scorer’s table. He’s ready to check in.
This really is just writing the script for him dropping 40 in the second half, isn’t it.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Rush 3!!!!!!!!!!!!
28-10!!!!!!!!!!!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Why is Kansas allowing me to get my hopes up? No way this holds up.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
UNC is looking two steps too slow tonight.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
I’m sorry. I was getting all of my fifths out of the freezer to chug at half….
April 5th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
That’s hilarious. Perhaps the line of the night.
Thing is, to rally, UNC has to run … and Kansas loves to run and excels at running … 31-10!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Is that 2 on Chalmers? No lead will be safe. Tyler’s Will and Heart just overwhelm people in the 2nd half
April 5th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Will this be considered the greatest comeback in F4 history?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
2 on Jackson, 2 on Kahn … gulp
That could be terrible news in the second half.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
wow! look at the freshman battle Hansbrough! I take back what i said about that stiff!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
that is a fuckin foul on aldridge. wft?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
I guess Tyler didn’t want that rebound hard enough
April 5th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Green was in the lane too soon
April 5th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Psycho T was just outhustled for a rebound. What’s the world coming to?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
18-0 run. Wow.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
I blame Roy Williams’ tie for this…stealing material from a Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is just asking for trouble
April 5th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Vegas, if you’re still alive, what were oddsmakers thinking?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Oh, fuck, that is such a stupid offensive foul. Come on, Aldrich, get a clue.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
this is where T should get it 24 times in a row.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Shit. 2 on Chalmers, 2 on Kahn, 2 on Jackson … this will not be good in the 2nd half. I wonder if Stewart would have actually been used if this keeps up
April 5th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Vegas, if you’re still alive, what were oddsmakers thinking?
a) Let’s calm down with the jinxes.
b) They were thinking that they wanted to get as close to split action on this game, because so much money comes in on it. There was no indication that they thought UNC was 3-4 points better than KU.
2 on Mario. Gonna need every bit of this 21 point lead.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
I just checked. 2001. Maryland was up 22 on Duke. They lost by 11.
UNC would have to win by 11 to top it.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
That’s correct, Tyler. These aren’t ACC refs who buy your every flailing, flopping move.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Every time I see Tyler Hansbrough I can’t help but think of the great Al Czervik line: Last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it
April 5th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
I seriously am shocked by the big freshman. I haven’t seen much of him, but what i’ve seen was Montross-like. He looks like a decent player tonight. Raw, but not terrible.
Rush for 3 … butter
38-12!!!!!!!!!!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Hansbrough’s Desire is fully capable of changing the earth’s rotation at halftime in order to reverse time and start the game over.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Wow! Packer just called this game over, haha
April 5th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Can Kansas top their complete game score against Davidson in this first half…only 22 to go boys
April 5th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Wow
Packer JUST CALLED It
“This game is OVA”
732 left in the 1st half
38-12
Nantz seemed stunned
That was fantastic Packer, i love you, man
April 5th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Rush for 15 already
April 5th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Looks like UNC was down 15 to Clemson on Feb. 10. That’s the biggest comeback I’ve found so far this year
April 5th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Just making a note for myself, should UNC come back and win, and I need to yank it off Red Lasso: 931 pm, 7:32 left in the half
April 5th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
I really like Packer, but that comment is ridiculous.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
16-5 rebounding edge for KU
April 5th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
This is about to enter “biggest comeback ever” range. Which, in case you are not an LSU alum and never saw it happen to you in person in your own gym, is 31.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Hopefully Fraud-T’s heart and desire didn’t hear what Packer said…or Kansas is F’d!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Hawk – if memory serves, that game was at home … i wonder if Packer’s right. Down 26 … against a stacked Kansas team …
Wasn’t there a miracle Duke comeback against Maryland a few F4s ago? Maybe 2003? Or am I drunk and it was Maryland that rallied?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Jay- what game was that?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
@ Chitwood
Why you say that? It is ova!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Ellington comes out with a brick.
Why are they not going to Hansbrough?
Who the hell is Mike Copeland?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
What, exactly, did Packer say?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
To paraphrase Apollo Creed, “Ain’t gonna be no comeback.”
Why? Packer just summed it up: “All of these players are trying to tie it with one shot.”
April 5th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Wasn’t there a miracle Duke comeback against Maryland a few F4s ago? Maybe 2003? Or am I drunk and it was Maryland that rallied?
Duke was down 22 at one point in that game in 2001…were it not for that comeback Shane Battier’s flopping ass never would have won a championship
April 5th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
LSu vs. Kentucky way back, 1994
April 5th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Alright, gotta admit this is rough. As a guy who’s been a heel since he was 4 and have never left a game b/c we were losing early… When’s the suitable time to go out and just forget this ever happened?? Do I wait until the half?
And y’all KU people, enjoy it; but don’t pile on too harsh.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Vegas–LSU/Kentucky, Mardi Gras night, 2003.
And TBL, check post 74
April 5th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
I wish the bar delivered.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Oops, I meant 2004. I’d like to forget.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
I live on Tobacco Road. I’ve seen enough Carolina comebacks to understand that it’s never ova until the final buzzer sounds.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Rush hit a 3, and UNC called TO and Packer goes, ‘this game is … ova’
and i laughed my ass off so i missed what Nantz said, but i think he finished it with … ‘there’s still 7 and half left’ and it went to commercial
April 5th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
So if they hadn’t won, he never would have won?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
‘94, or ‘03?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Shit 1994. I need to stop drinking
April 5th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
For some reason watching UNC getting blasted in HD makes it all that much more fun.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
I need to stop drinking
I need to start.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
@TBL: Some random asshole is putting a great jinx on us over at the Gambling Board. Fuck.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
I need to stop drinking
Unless you’re an airline pilot or heart surgeon getting ready for action those words should never be spoken
April 5th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
We’re in a parallel universe, people. The freshman just sank a TURNAROUND J and then swatted a shot into the 3rd row. Seriously.
It’s 40-12!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Nantz gets in each of the player’s heads like a narrator. It’s always “so and so says”
April 5th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
I hate Carolina with everything in me, but I know there’s still plenty of time left.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
I’m down with Marcus Ginyard shooting 3s.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Damn, all I hear is iron being clunked. Ugly shot after ugly shot.
I may have to agree with Packer on this one….
April 5th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Will UNC another basket this half?
I’m not going to call the Heels frauds, even if they lose by 50 and Kansas drops 100. But you know i want to.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
13 fucking points. unreal
April 5th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Are the Tar Heels identity thieves because they are frauds!
April 5th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
sorry, make that 14
April 5th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
I’ll never understand how this Kansas team could have looked so bad against Davidson
April 5th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Packer – don’t forget – Lawson can’t run the halfcourt set because Robinson’s in his shit
Wow am I eager for
Rush vs CDR
Robinson vs. Rose
April 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Rush’s hair style is on the verge of living in the 1990’s. I bet he’s has some Bel Biv Devoe on his Ipod.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
anybody who makes a final four CAN’T be a fraud
April 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Man, that Case guy looks like Tubby Smith’s long-lost son.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Get that fucking walk-on OFF THE FLOOR
what a dumb foul
April 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Here they come.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
This reminds me of UCONN vs. Ga Tech a couple years back
April 5th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Saul Smith had game
April 5th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
anybody who makes a final four CAN’T be a fraud
I don’t agree with this. A team who played Kansas’ opponents on their way to the F4 doesn’t necessarily have to be that good. Certainly not true for UNC’s path, though.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
anybody who makes a final four CAN’T be a fraud
I’m a Wisconsin fan but I’ll give you the 2000 Badgers as my rebuttal to that statement
April 5th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
How long since KU scored?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Get the ball to Rush, let him take shots, NOT Collins
April 5th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Hansbrough has made every single play for unc.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
The lead was 28 at its peak.
Can we get a fucking replay on these “charges”? And does KU’s entire lineup have 2 fouls?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
UNC gets it under 20 by the half and they’re right back in it.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
i think i can have the packer video by halftime
April 5th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
T is the only fuckin guy that came to play. THAT FUCKING PISSES ME OFF. You knew he was coming, but the other guys??? Ellington??? Green? Lawson??? Now is the time to pull your tampon out fellas…..
April 5th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Exactly, Vegas. I think that any team that beats a 16, 8, 12, and 10 to get there could theoretically be questioned. Not tonight though.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Kansas better is better and UNC’s better
/SPARQ
April 5th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
The foul-trouble, combined with Stewart’s concave kneecap is not good news for the second half.
Kansas in the halfcourt minus Chalmers worries me a bit.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
I’m gonna watch the Youtube of the Kentucky-LSU game at halftime, just to mentally prepare myself.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Saul Smith had game
He’s an assistant coach now under his dad at Minnesota which just kills me…Paris Hilton has accomplished more on her own that this guy
April 5th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
No one else is going to get this, but that “Speed Racer” movie looks like “Lazy Town” on Noggin. Doesn’t bode well.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Oh come on, how can a team that’s a no. 1 seed, won over 30 games, beat 4 teams to get there (including a game LU team) be a fraud. UNC’s having a shit game, they just aren’t playing at all. But fraud? Nope. If you think so then you’re using the word fraud way too liberally. What’s your definition of a team thats not a fraud? the team that wins it all??? So, all 300+ teams in Div. 1 are frauds but one?
Say they’re playing like shit, not as good as KU or whatever, but leave some respect for the phrase fraud. Geeze. I need more alcohol.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Butters, Pat Knight and Sean Sutton disagree…
April 5th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Still remember being in NY with relatives watching Manning dominate Stacey King in the 88 title game. Like how Packer mentions, “Manning and his father” went to Kansas
Such an underplayed story. Larry Brown bought that title by handing the kid’s dad a job
April 5th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
“I cannot believe he took that shot.” – B. Packer
LOL
April 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Oh come on, how can a team that’s a no. 1 seed, won over 30 games, beat 4 teams to get there (including a game LU team) be a fraud.
I don’t know if this is directed at me, but I absolutely never said Carolina is a “fraud”. I don’t even use dumb words like that.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Pay Knight…good call, at least Saul was decent enough to crack the starting lineup
Carolina is totally winning this game and I’ll throw my TV off the balcony when it does
April 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
justin, UNC is a victim of their own earlier games. Nobody with half a brain expected them to do to Kansas what they did to Arkansas. Unfortunately, there are a lot of brain-dead people out there.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
oh and he misses the dunk
down to 15? No, green misses.
that’s how you dunk
nice to have you back, Mr. Chalmers
April 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Finally a KU bucket.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
And vegas, that wasn’t aimed at you.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
This is turning ugly.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Jesus, Kansas, calm down. Act like you’ve been here before, even if you haven’t.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
@butters – That would be bad to do that. How would you watch porn? Just start knocking back 10-15 New Glarus and pass out.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
thats a shady 10 seconds right there. FUCK
April 5th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Down to a 15-point deficit at the half … which is more manageable, but Kansas hasn’t had its starting lineup on the floor in like 10 minutes
April 5th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
This game ain’t over.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Oh, and Vegas, when you watch LSU/Kentucky at halftime, keep in mind that LSU was up 31 with like 11 minutes left in the game.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
yes!
Collins sinks it, back up 17.
Ok, off to look for Packer’s video
April 5th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Will someone please explain to me when a charge isn’t a charge??
April 5th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
17 UNC could come back, but I don’t think so.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Volkswagen just made my shit list.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Vegas, not directed at you
Jay, yeah, I knew coming in that KU was the better team but I also knew that they rarely played as the best team. My contention was ppl saying UNC was a fraud. Thats all. I don’t think Ark is the team you should be thinking about tho. I think you should be looking at Clemson and Louisville. But honestly, UNC hasn’t played a team like KU (but really, aside from those on KU’s sched., who has?)
April 5th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
LSU is up 16 at the half. Those highlights were fun to watch. A lot more 3s than KU relied on. I’m only 20, so I don’t know any of these guys. I guess the lead somehow almost doubles.
Time for the 2H.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
no, Clark
Kansas shot 55% because UNC doesn’t play defense. Ville shot 53% last week
April 5th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
@ TBL, if he didn’t have his starters in then thats on him. You NEVER let up. As much as I hate being down, if my team were in KU’s shoes, I want 40 by half.
And they could have had it too.
Bar none, this game–whichever way it goes–is going to kill me.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Vegas is 20??!? There is the revelation of the day. How about this Cole Aldrich fella, coming out of nowhere to out hustle Hansbrough.
I can’t believe Bob Knight was in a VW commercial, what a travesty.

Just a reminder: UNC was down by 18 in the 2nd half to BC this year in Chestnut Hill and won by 10.
http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=280610103
(For the record, I despise UNC, thanks to the resulf ot the ‘93 Championship game).
April 5th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
I just had a vision of Hansbrough actually getting pissed in the 2nd half and posterizing everybody and popping 3’s for the W.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
So which loss is more bitter in that SEC rivalry

April 5th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Yeah, we know that UNC will rally because Green and Ellington will make 3’s … BUT Jackson and Kahn hardly played, and they HOPEFULLY will be fresh and able to run the floor better than Hansbrough
that 17-point uphill climb will be like running stadium stairs after a 3 hour practice in mid-july
April 5th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Vegas is 20??!?
Everybody is always shocked. It amuses me to no end.
@ TBL, if he didn’t have his starters in then thats on him. You NEVER let up. As much as I hate being down, if my team were in KU’s shoes, I want 40 by half.
KU’s main guys were out because of fouls, not because Self thought it was over.

What the fuck…did I do something wrong?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
@vegas.. im only 17 lol
April 5th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
with all this age disclosure I’m beginning to worry if Chris Hanson isn’t trollong around the comments section
April 5th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
hello.. im chris hansen with dateline nbc..
oh, so you only brought those condoms to wrap around your finger? i see..
April 5th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Cortes, you write like a teenager (though so does Irish so that isn’t saying much). Vegas writes like he is 35.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Shit, I feel old. Of course, when I graduated, LSU was a basketball school.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
I should do myself a favor and not watch the 2nd half. I’m gonna cry when UNC wins.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Careful Diesel, Irish will post your personal information for all to see with another line like that.

Packer video coming in less than a minute
April 5th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Billy Packer calls the game OVA
Enjoy!
April 5th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
UNC just doesn’t play any defense, at all. KU will be content to trade buckets all night … surprised to see Lawson beat Robinson so easy
April 5th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Hansbrough really does make some tough, tough shots with remarkable consistency.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
I hope at the end of this game I can still tell my UNC friends that Roy can’t win with his own players.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Tyler Hansbrough’s Will gets a rare bucket on the night.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Arthur just got his 3rd?
And the lead is down to 16. I’m almost certain the Heels will get within 5
April 5th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
How is that not a charge on rush?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
It’s amazing how more evenly the game is called when UNC & Duke play with non-ACC refs.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
3 on Kaun now, fuck.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Crafty, Hansbrough.
Crafty.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
It’s like Kahn and Aldridge are over physical with T
April 5th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Green hits a 3 … down to 14 … and here’s some full court pressure from UNC … oh man, bad offensive foul on Kaun
KU should keep driving and attacking, not settling for jumpers (though Rush just had a wideeeeee open look you can’t argue with)
April 5th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
I hate those away-from-the-ball offensive fouls, I don’t care if he threw the guy down.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
First 5 minutes fellas. UNC needs another score and another stop and this is a game again.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Jimmy, do you watch the ACC??!?! Those refs were horrible this year for EVERY team. They always called in favor of the home team (no matter if you were UNC, Clemson, or BC). It was atrocious.
Not defending UNC on that end, but I’ve seen better rec league refs in my day.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
i guess hansbrough doesnt want it enough tonight.. not enough desire and heart.. fucking jay bilas..
April 5th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
KU should keep driving and attacking, not settling for jumpers (though Rush just had a wideeeeee open look you can’t argue with)
It is going to be very difficult for UNC to come back if KU keeps getting the looks they’ve been getting inside. It’s not going to be hard at all if Kansas starts taking a lot of 3s.
I noticed in that LSU-Kentucky game that LSU got the initial lead on a flurry of 3s. I’d bet that a lot of these huge comebacks started like that. It’s a lot harder to go cold from the inside than cold from 3.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
How did Tyler Hansbrough’s heart not grab that loose ball?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
12
April 5th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Down to 12.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Is Bill Self trying to do his best Gary Williams impersonation???
April 5th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
I’m scared.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
That’s the problem with these big leads …. you know panic sets in, and you know the other team is going to rally … nature of the beast
But you know who is sweating more than anyone? Billy Packer.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
What is Gus Johnson doing right now? Sitting at home calling the game to his kids?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Packer should know better.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
nolan–check the flop sweat
April 5th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Chitwood – don’t be scared. It’ll get down to at least 5 at some point. It’s almost like you’d rather have a back-and-forth game than watching someone come back like this …
KU will start to take smarter shots, and hopefully, a lot of those will be by Chalmers
April 5th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
I don’t like Sherron Collins at all. Have I made that clear in the last two weeks? He’s too damn aggressive and makes silly mistakes
April 5th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Oh dear
April 5th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
I don’t think I could bear another chapter in “The Legend of Roy Williams”
April 5th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Stop. Shooting. Threes.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Whew, dodged a bullet there on the Ellington miss
Rush, what are you doing .. attack the basket
another charge? WHERE IS CHALMERS?????
April 5th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Where is Lawson. Please. Lawson
April 5th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Is Kansas fucking serious with this shot selection????
April 5th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Robinson on Green is smart .. the 3 pointer wasn’t.
Wow, UNC has had 4 chances to cut it to single digits … botched all of them
(Damn, nantz beat me to it!)
April 5th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Is KU as good as they were in the 1st or as bad as they’ve been in the 2nd?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
come on guys…. settle down, you got this…. this game is going to kill me
April 5th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
what is D Arthur thinking with that drive? He’s 6-9. He should be passing
down to 8 …
April 5th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
YYYYYYYYYYYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
April 5th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Arthur playing half-court penetration from the perimeter. Yeah, that’ll work.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Get the ball inside. Don’t throw up a three at the first opportunity, especially if your name isn’t Mario Chalmers. Why is this so complicated?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Here’s that CDR facial on Love from earlier tonight

When I started yelling at the top of my lungs we started rolling…Fucking ey man, fucking ey. That a boy ellington
April 5th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
why would you foul him there? Seriously?
Come on RUssell, think!
April 5th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
This is a joke. Robinson coming in and trying to grab TH’s arm. Yeah, that’ll work.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
I’m flippin spent. I need a time out. I’m hoarse and my heartbeat is above 150. Swear.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
how many team fouls on UNC? Free throws would help now.
Has chalmers attempted a shot in the last six minutes?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
unc 4 ku 3 team fouls
April 5th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
I’m not surprised by this at all. Again, I’ve seen it my whole life.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
sorry, 5 for ku
April 5th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
No clue. No clue. No clue. Steve Nash. No clue. No clue. No clue. Pete Carroll. No clue. No clue. No clue. No clue. No clue. LT.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
I’m about to give out my address for you guys to call 911 just in case I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
its a very good idea that I didn’t go out to watch this game but stayed in to be by myself. Getting arrested isn’t fun, and win or lose, I’m sure I would have.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
oh and Arthur walked. Disaster. I don’t think Kansas will start playing again until UNC takes the lead.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Ok Rush, nicely done
man this second half clock is sloowwwwwww
April 5th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
They go inside twice in a row, and score both times. Shocking.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
If UNC wins, I would put Kansas’ choke job somewhere between the Houston Oilers and the Portland Trail Blazers.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
This is a fantastic game. Considering
April 5th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
3 guys are yelling shoot it and he’s dribbling around looking to make something happen
they’ve lost their damn minds!
April 5th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Hansbrough on the bench … let’s see where they go. As long as Robinson locks down Green …
April 5th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
What will Arthur do wrong this possession?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Wait, he’s out. Never mind.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Kansas is trying to sit on a lead, thats why they’ll lose
April 5th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
I love these Chevy commercials that show eco-friendly cars that we can’t buy.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Perhaps of note – UNC is shooting at the same hoop UCLA did in the second half. UCLA had 2-3 potentially clutch shots rim out in the 2nd half.
That Green triple was totally in but rimmed out.
/admits it is a reach
April 5th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
ok, we should see all starters (and green) for until the final whistle.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
UNC is within six and Tyler Hansbrough’s Will hasn’t even taken over yet!
April 5th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Kansas’ collective sphincter is one which a toothpick couldn’t fit
April 5th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
TH totally walked on that
3rd foul on him
Sub him out for his Heart!
April 5th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Daaaammmmmnnnnn
April 5th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Sasha Kaun Everybody! Everybody Sasha Kaun!
April 5th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Impressive follow there by Green.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Collins FINALLY doesn’t shoot and passes for a nice ally-oop
Rush is getting a nice breather … dude better come through in the final 5
April 5th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
i keep wanting to nantz to screw up and call him chacka kaun
April 5th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Nantz used his whatta Kansas Moment line already
April 5th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Jenna Fischer in Blades of Glory > Blades of Glory
April 5th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Gotta knock down the wide open looks
April 5th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
and 1
April 5th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Rush has missed 2 open 3’s this half … and Collins hits a force! Obviously I’ll take it, but clearly I don’t like it
April 5th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Am I the only male who’s just meh on Jenna Fischer??
April 5th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
KEY possession here for KU. Up 8, UNC looks tired on D, and the 4 min TO is coming up.
Smart TO by Roy … give the kids a rest, and then get the under 4 breather
April 5th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Lawson has been non-existent all night
April 5th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Hey vegas, what was the line on this game? TBl?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Rush has missed 2 open 3’s this half … and Collins hits a force! Obviously I’ll take it, but clearly I don’t like it
I will never forgive them for all the 3s they have taken in the 2H. I just don’t understand it at all.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
TBL: great line on Jenna, wow WHATTA MOMENT that scene with Farrell was
April 5th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Mila Kunis in that commercial … hello
how did Mac Culkin lock that up? Nicely done by Home Alone
April 5th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Is KU a good FT shooting team? They go to the line next foul
April 5th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
The first half of 267 was a TBL quote, forgot the italics.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
KU was a +3.5 dog
April 5th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Rush, THAT’S what you do
excellent work out of the TO
Wow, Collins soars for the board
And now Jackson scores, up 12 …
April 5th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Boy I love these refs! 1000 times better than ACC refs.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Mac Culkin is tagging Mia Kunis?? What is this world coming to?
April 5th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
The line was 3 almost everywhere. TBL got it at 3.5, somehow.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Nantz called it a few minutes ago – UNC spent it all rallying. That trap is coming slower and KU has, in the last few minutes, a layup and a couple dunks …
April 5th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Mac has the best weed in town, thats why
April 5th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
CBS Executives are jumping out the window. So much for the Hansbrough/Love dream matchup.
Bud Light Lime. If you’re still too much of a douche to drink regular light beer.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
I use linesmaker
April 5th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
NO WAY KU was a dog. Even I knew that was out of wack. Please tell me you guys picked up on that. I even had KU beating UNC in my office pool.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
i had that Miller lime crap, wow, that was just awful
April 5th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
That trap is coming slower and KU has, in the last few minutes, a layup and a couple dunks …
I am repeating myself, but I really think the inside stuff has been there all game. They just didn’t take it for about a 12 minute span.
April 5th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
see, that’s a terrible shot by Collins in transition
April 5th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
WHY SHOOT THERE???
April 5th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
You wonder … both these teams have spent a shitload … Memphis cruised relatively easily …
will that affect the line?
I’m thinking Kansas would be -2
and UNC would be +3
April 5th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
What Miller branded beer is good???
April 5th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Line for Kansas vs Memphis ? I say Kansas by 1
April 5th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Yes, justin, i have 2 bets – KU to win, and +3.5
April 5th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
I’m lovin this
April 5th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
in high school, our choice was MGD bottles
in college, mostly rolling rock
April 5th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Guys who used to drink Zima think guys who drink Bud Light Lime are douchebags.
(except for the guys here who drink it, LOL)
April 5th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Dick Vitale right now: http://www.bbc.co.uk/parenting/images/300/baby_crying_closeup.jpg
April 5th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
ROY WILLIAMS = FRAUD
April 5th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Right…forgot about MGD. Shame on me.
Killian’s was beer of choice here.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Killian’s? In HS? Rich kids, huh?
April 5th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Okay. Stop being ESPN. Get Larry fucking Brown off my television screen.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
its always MGD in bottles for my crew, and I hated it, I was a Bud Man back in the early 90s
April 5th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Jimmy, stop making yourself look stupid.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Roy still has never won a title
with his recruited players
April 5th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
I can honestly say I’ve never seen a game like this one…from 28 to 4 and still ending up as a blowout
April 5th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Sorry, college. I was a good boy in HS and did not drink.
And then made up for it later.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Just guessing, but most of the – as Vegas calls them, ’squares’ – will be on Memphis after they destroyed UCLA, but I still like Kansas.
I don’t think it relies on its guards as much to win, and I actually think they’ll have a defensive answer for CDR and for Rose.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Seriously, what coach has done so little with so much as Roy Williams? His lone championship was done with Matt Daherty’s players.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
this may sound unamerican, but i always thought Budweiser was a nasty, nasty beer
April 5th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
most overrated coach: Dean Smith. 2 titles in 28 years (or whatever) despite having more Hamburger All-Americans than anyone. dude should have had at least 5
*ducks*
April 5th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
In college we always called Budweiser “The Diesel”…it’s pure awfulness
April 5th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
i dont like Bud like i used to… its too carbonated
April 5th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Bus is nasty beer. There’s just something about it I don’t like. Between a Bud or High Life, High Life would win every time.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
TBL – and Dean’s title’s were thanks in large part to bone head plays by the opposition.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Rock. Fucking. Chalk.
KU -2 on Monday would be my guess. That line will be released soon.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Did that make sense? Nantz just said Self won the only other game he coached in the Alamodome, against Kansas with Illinois in the Sweet Sixteen. Where did they play the Elite Eight game?
April 5th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Each Dean Smith title is known for the other teams’ collapse
Fred Brown’s pass to Worthy, Webber’s timeout
April 5th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Monday’s line: KU -1.5.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
I’ll take Memphis, going for most wins ever in a season
April 5th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Only three “I think”s from Bob Knight in his first commentary…it’s really a fun game to play (his record is six)
April 5th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Jimmy, seriously, sit down, you’re makig yourself look dumb.
So, having the best career win percentage of all coaches makes you a fraud?
what about 14 conference championships, at least 5 final fours that I can think of, gettin elected into the coaching hall of fame, and oh winning a national championship? Are those what you define as so little?
You can say he never did it with his recruits, which is only halfway true btw (Marvin Williams, you people seem to forget, was a key cog in that nat’l championship run), but that team was an absolute mess before he got there (believe me, I lived through 8-20 and an NIT year with that same team of recruits).
April 5th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
Bilas just said UNC’s run was more because of stupid shots by KU and not running their offense.
Justin – I could’ve taken the talent Roy has had and won at least 3 titles.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Bilas just said UNC’s run was more because of stupid shots by KU and not running their offense.
I absolutely agree with this statement
April 5th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
I must admit, however, that Roy’s ability to win a title with losers like Sean May, Raymond Felton, Rashaad McCants, and Marvin Williams was nothing short of phenomenal.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
God you guys are dumb. Are Nat’l titles all that matter? Yes, they are amazingly great feats, but wasn’t I just reading on here a few days ago how this tourney rarely decides who the greatest team is?
How come you guys don’t look at this way: those mistakes were unforced errors by either an unprepared team or a dumb team. If you guys win a rec league because somebody on the other team passes to the other team are you not gonna take it? When Joe Gibbs called two consecutive time outs this year, costing his team the win, did the opposition forfiet because they felt sorry? Arguing anyting like that just makes you look either jealous or intellectually lazy.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
I’m going to take Kansas for this reason: Rush and Robinson. I like those two on CDR and Rose – not to stop, but slow somewhat – and I really don’t like anyone else on the Memphis offense. If you can stop those two – and kansas has the defenders – then you’ll be OK.
Also, if this Aldrich kid can bring that madness again … you’re looking at Jackson and Arthur and Kaun … that’s four big guys who are world better than Dozier/Dorsey/Taggart.
Since this is the last I’m wagering until the NFL … i’ll just put it all on KU.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Jimmy–go talk to Matt Doherty about that.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Ha. This is too funny – Bilas, Vitale and Digger and Knight are ALL on Memphis. I think this is how everyone will wager, too. Memphis looked so damn good … but i think the matchups favor KU.
But keep talking up Memphis, folks!
April 5th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
You’re playing the intellectually lazy card? Really?
I don’t see anyone raving about what a great coach Buffalo’s coach is based on Gibbs’ mistake.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
I’m more impressed with Knight looking like a 5th wheel on that set.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
You’re obviously not seeing the argument. The argument is that you play your opposition. You can’t control their stupidity. If you discredit a teams win because their opponent was a bonehead then you don’t see the larger point: what defensive pressure led up to that moment, which team was more prepared, which team is better in the clutch, who practiced what, who has the better assistant coaching staff (in the issue of time outs and rules and things like that).
And oh, that errant pass was for the final shot, you guys cleverly forget a guy named jordan and his shot just before it. UNC won that game, the opposition didn’t step up on the final play. If you don’t see that Jimmy, then there isn’t much I can say to you.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
I’ll drop it Justin. Better luck next year.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Vegaswatch update: The Line is ALREADY Memphis -1.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Here’s the link to Memphis -1
http://pinnaclesports.com/League/Basketball/NCAA/1/Lines.aspx
April 5th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Are Jay Bilias and Billy Donavan long lost relatives???
April 5th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
congrats Jimmy. G’luck against Memphis.
Fuck this, I’m going drinking
April 5th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
