Ballin’: Atlanta Won’t Back Down
NBA April 6th. 2008, 12:45pm
Hawks 92, 76ers 85
A night after clinching a playoff berth, Philly was taken out back to the wood shed in a game that wasn’t as close as the score indicated. The Hawks led by as many as 14 and led throughout. Joe Johnson had 22 points, 8 boards and 6 assists and Josh Smith added 18 and 10. All 5 Atlanta starters scored in double digits.
Magic 101, Cavs 86
Hedo Turkoglu scored 23 points, Rashard Lewis added 21 and the Orlando Magic locked up the Eastern Conference’s No. 3 playoff seed in the East. LeBron had 17 points and 9 assists for Cleveland (as if I needed the words “for Cleveland”).
Kings 118, Nuggets 115
The teams combined for 43 turnovers and traded 11 point leads before Kevin Martin finished off Denver with 36 points and 13 of 13 free throws. Francisco Garcia had 29 points off the bench in just 33 minutes and Mikki Moore added 23 and 10. Carmelo Anthony did all he could with 47 points.
Celtics 101, Bobcats 78
Leon Powe had 22 points and 9 rebounds and James Posey had 19 points for the Celtics scrubs, who completely dominated Charlotte. Boston locked up the #1 seed in the East with no Pierce, Allen, or Garnett.
Nets 99, Raptors 90
Vince Carter scored 32 points on 12/21 shooting and the Nets finished with 42 points in the paint. Richard Jefferson provided the support with 28 points and 6 assists. Toronto has dipped to the 7th seed in the East, with Atlanta trailing by just 2 games. With a win over the Bulls last night, the Wizards are now just 2 games back of Cleveland for the 4th seed.Â

I was at the Sixers game last night. Not only did we play terrible, but the Hawks played some very good defense.

Cavs looked like steaming poo yesterday.

Nick, they’ve looked like that for the last 13 or so games. (5 wins in that period).

I know. I’ve been watching.
Unlike you, I’m not happy about it though.

Nuggets gave up 118 at home to the Kings, but I’m sure the Kings’ points per posession wasn’t impressive at all.

Umm, why in the world would I be happy about it. Unlike you, I don’t pull for some guys just to support my arguments, instead, I weigh in afterwards and constantly reevaulate. If you did that, you’d be upfront that LeBron hasn’t played well over the last month. Instead, you just continue to bash Kobe.
