Finis: Kansas vs. Memphis
College Basketball April 7th. 2008, 9:22pm
It’s here. Now that Seth Davis, Chalk Kellogg, Dook Vitale and Digger all picked Memphis, we’re a bit nervous. Will Rose own yet another guard? Will Brandon Rush will turn back into the choking dog we all know him – and his brothers – to be? Will Bill Self channel his old self, and forget how to run an offense? These analysts are seasoned professionals! They know their stuff! Joey Dorsey will growl and Kaun and Aldrich will quiver! Ahhhhhh!

CDR throws up a gang sign? Or was that a frat sign?
ooooo, packer points, coming up!!
April 7th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
What happened to the Packer points??
April 7th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Dorsey with some junk … good luck keeping that up.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
dude, TBL, that was the diamond cutter
on another note, why doesnt rose like questions about rose
April 7th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Oh, nowwwwww we finally hear about how Robinson is athletic …
Anderson undercut him totally .. should have been flagrant
April 7th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Robinson, what is that?
Nice layup in transition by Rose … tough dribble
April 7th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Kansas looks tight … struggling to grab the ball … until Arthur just tea-bagged Dorsey
April 7th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Damn, Arthur gets such good position down low on that ball reversal.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
you are little pro kansas tonight dude
April 7th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
i’ll live with Dozier taking that all game long …
why is Robinson so all over Rose? Make him take a triple …
April 7th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Kansas cannot grip the ball early at all. So nervous.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Memphis looks as confident as they have all Tournament long.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
wow, tough shot by Rose. Ticky-tack foul, though
April 7th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
you expect teams to play ugly in the first couple minutes of a championship but this is ridiculous
April 7th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Packer Wisdom: You’re more likely to win the games when you make more 3’s.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
game over
April 7th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Rose needs to take CDR to the hoop … dont wuss out
April 7th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Memphis leads after 4 minutes. They will win.
Sincerely, Dick V.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
that’s hilarious. Taggart can take all of those all night. Rose is rising and looking to dish more. Please continue to do that.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
anyone see the ref keep the ball inbounds? thats weak.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Ref’s part of the court, benji.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
CBS is going to show Kimbo Slice? Wtf?
April 7th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Arthur on CDR? That’s a disaster waiting to happen
April 7th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Taggart will be working at a fast food establishment in 2 years … Arthur will be in the NBA getting paid … i like that matchup.
Dorsey can’t dribble! Shock
April 7th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Dorsey on a mission to prove NBA scouts he’ll have the Ben Wallace game at the next level. Not good for the Tigers tonight.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
what the hell is Arthur thinking?
April 7th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
I hope they dump it in to Dorsey all night.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
wow, Collins just bow by Rose
Collins could win me over … i have thought him out of control and too heat-checky
CDR with that junk .. keep taking those, buddy ..
Bad shot, Chalmers.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Collins just blew by Rose.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Poor Taggart. Two fouls. Enjoy the bench time, bud. That’s just a dumb statement, Packer. Kansas is deeper than Memphis. Memphis plays six guys – let’s not count Kemp because he can’t give you 20 quality minutes.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Memphis in some early foul trouble, let’s see the ‘Hawks hit their throws…
April 7th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Kahn = Nowitski in ugliness only.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
I hope foul trouble doesn’t play a big part in this.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Memphis in early foul trouble.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
These refs are terrible.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
despite the travel, great idea by Collins.
Dozier is living in a dreamland. He must really think he’s Hakim Warrick, huh?
April 7th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Fetch – the refs are fine (so far).
April 7th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Gotta count Kemp, TBL. He was a two-year starter before Rose and is very capable player in this offense.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Some really tough calls on the inside against Memphis. Let them play.
Also, Kemp can play.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Mila Kunis or Kristen Bell?
April 7th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Fascinated by the surprising hotness of Mila Kunis in this movie preview
April 7th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
@ TBL–I think what he meant by “Kansas can’t get in foul trouble” is that Kansas is so deep that if Kaun or Jackson or whomever get a couple quick ones they can go the bench better than Memphis. Or at least I hope that’s what he meant cause otherwise he’s a moron.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
CHJ: Kemp is a sophomore, so while I agree with you, he wasn’t a two-year starter.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
@ Roethlishotdog– I suppose, but I would just like to see the title decided by players, not by fouls. And I say that as a Kansas fan.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Kemp’s mentally crushed he’s scored double figures twice since Jan 9 and hasn’t taken a shot in two games. Since I’m on Kansas, I’ll gladly take Kemp attempting all sorts of shots tonight
April 7th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Mila Kunis never did much for me … until now.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
like i said … keep shooting, Taggart, Dozier, anyone but Rose and CDR
April 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Fetch – but if the players commit fouls, what do you want the refs to do, ignore it because a player already had 1 or 2 early? As long as they call what affects advantage/disadvantage, that’s all you can ask.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Who was the guy Patino allowed to come in and shoot free throws several years back even though he was out for the year with a knee injury? That was a cool moment.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Scouts have to be saying
Rush > CDR
April 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
how bad is your defense when you let Rush take you off the dribble?
April 7th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Chitwood: pretty sure it was Derek Anderson.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Roethlishotdog- good point.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
@ Sean Jean. You’re right, just seems older to me. College players tend to trick our minds. (McNamara seemed like a six-year player.)
April 7th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Taggart … hahahahahahahaha
Packer’s right – Rose is tentative. he’s looking to pass more than score
April 7th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
kansas will not trail again
April 7th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
CDR and Rose needs to take more shots.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Memphis rattled … Rose settling for jumpers, and Dorsey/Taggart/Dozier frustrated by Kansas bigs
Packer: “Rush is causing problems for CDR” well no shit, sherlock!
Aldrich in the house!!
April 7th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Dorsey deserves to get pwned on the next level. Great play, but he’s such an f’ing punk.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Shhhhh
don’t tell that to Taggart et al!
Damn Robinson, that’s his 2nd … a dumb foul
April 7th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
ESCALADE!!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
CHJ: No doubt. I can’t stand Dorsey. I’d dislike Tiger High a lot less if he wasn’t there.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Since when does Escalade play for Memphis?
April 7th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Memphis is definitely rattled, they’ve never played a team that matched up against them like this.
Why isn’t Dorsey a defensive end? He would be a monster.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Damn it Merkin
April 7th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Wow – 7 points is biggest deficit of the entire tourney for Memphis.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Two good drive and dishes by Rose.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
What are the odds that Miles and Andre Allen room together and eat a shitload of pizza?
April 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Is there any play in sports (besides walk-off or buzzer beaters) more crowd-pumping than an alley-oop? It’s much bigger than a home run or a QB sack.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Damn, two quick threes and Memphis is right back in this. This definitely has the feel of a heavyweight title match.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
I vote for the removal of the 3pt line for this game.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
The game feels good: the crowd, the urgency, some nerves and tons of talent out there just bubbling to prove itself. Agree?
April 7th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
If I could hit a homer in a MLB ballpark or dunk a basketball, i’d take the dunk everyday of the week. Anyone else dream about coming down the floor on a break, rising up and just putting one down in someone’s grill?
/guy who plays rec-league basketball and dreams too much
April 7th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
@ St. Bear – the anticipation and satisfaction of a 60-yard bomb is always exhilarating.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
@ college, agree. a lot of nerves
April 7th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
WTF with Roy and the Kansas sticker?
April 7th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
the balls to wear a Kansas sticker? roy, roy, roy…
April 7th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
That sticker will draw some attention.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
That’s 3 wide-open 3’s that have got Memphis back into it.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
*EXPERT ANALYSIS*
These teams are good.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Kaun is too slow with the ball
April 7th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
CDR is balling.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
what a save and dribble and pass!
Rush prob did go over his back, tho
April 7th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Memphis completely gave up on D that time — it all started with Dorsey complaining.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Dorsey’s bitching at the offensive end likely cost him that over the back call.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Dorsey is in fine form, taking 3 or 4 seconds to whine at the ref as Kansas runs down in transition. What a clown. He’ll fit right in at the NBA level.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Ok who are the geniuses deciding when these games should start? 9:30 Eastern on a fucking Monday?! Once we get through the 300,000 extra commercials they’re running since it’s the national championship, it’ll be fucking midnight! And what happens if the game goes to OT? I hate everyone.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Come on Rush, tighten up your shit
And get Jackson in there
April 7th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
$$$$$
April 7th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
The first four minutes were telling and crucial…
April 7th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Aldrich is doing a great job hedging on those ball screens for CDR.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Was the last Memphis basket a two or a three? I didnt hear Nantz the first 7 times
April 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
2 of those wide open triples happened because of doubling on Rose/CDR on drives (i think). Don’t have the guards sag, double off Dorsey/Taggart
April 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
sportsgal, this isn’t anything new. The baseball playoffs and BCS all started after 9pm EST on weeknights. I’m sure the NBA will be no different this spring.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
i thought memphis was about to go on a streak.
great game right now
April 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
My better is better than your commercial.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
sportsgal, I feel for you, really….. by the way, its 7:00 here on the west coast
April 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Sporsgal, while I agree completely, at least they don’t put the games on some hunting network.
/guy-who-still-hates-gary-bettman
April 7th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
How are they going to make money if half their audience goes to bed halfway through the game?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Im pretty sure that “hunting network” is now the “Minor League of MMA” network
April 7th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
i believe the best advertising dollars are in the 9-11 pm hour.
2 on Dorsey.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
I liked some things about eastern time when I visited out there, but definitely OK with not having to stay up past midnight to see the end of games
April 7th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
One Shining Moment won’t be cued up until after midnight.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
dorsey and dozier with 2
rose is going to have to carry the team
April 7th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Everything loose going KU’s way.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Kansas is doing great on the boards.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
you just know some of the talking heads are going to blame the illness on Rose, but that’s not it. He’s simply looking to pass more and get his teammates involved.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Derrick Rose only 1 out of 4 FG tonight.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Memphis needs to work on defensive rebounding.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Taggart is so, so bad.
Stone hands. Keep shooting, mate!
Bad, bad foul by Arthur there with 60 seconds left in the half.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Chalmers needs to make that shot.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
So, who likes college basketball?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
tbl likes kansas
April 7th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Memphis (Cal) needs to work on the entire game; offense=individual plays, defense=individual plays.
Last I checked college hoops seems to have more success with plays involving all 5 on the floor.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
id say a championship game appearance = success pig sooie
April 7th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
dicky v in the hall of fame is a travesty
April 7th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Awful possession by Memphis. Just awful.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Is masturbating in the public library considered to be college basketball? If so, I like it…
April 7th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
grab a fucking rebound
April 7th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
this foul trouble is going to kill Memphis
April 7th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Way to get a quality shot Rose
April 7th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Critical that Memphis didn’t let KU get the final shot … Rose looks tired, for sure…man, nothing doing – what a wasted 60 seconds.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
damn you Rush! You gotta luck up that fucking board!
got bailed out by another bad Memphis trip
April 7th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
sportsgal – The Final Four should definitely start on Friday night, with the Championship on Sunday around 6:30 p.m. More people will watch on a Sunday, instead on Monday.
Memphis’s big guys in foul trouble will hurt them in the second half. Three-pointers will only keep them in the game for so long.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
nice coaching move by Self
April 7th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Memphis bails themselves out by getting the offensive board … and then pisses the extra possession away by almost letting time run out.
The Tigers look a little frazzled.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Pretty ugly half.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Let’s see … Rose will eventually get his … CDR can’t possibly play any better, and for Kansas, Rush is just 2-for-4 and Jackson has attempted just one shot.
My biggest fear for Kansas is the 2 fouls on Arthur. He’s been borderline dominant at both ends, and Kaun/Aldrich are good, but not nearly as effective.
I’d expect Rose to come out gunning
April 7th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
5 points is nothing, i could go out there and score 5 on Aldridge. Who am i kidding, that Aldridge kids looks like he might be somebody one day in the NBA. Maybe a white Dwight Howard, nah
April 7th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
gotcha blazers…been awhile coming for MEM, Cal always has talent; however he can’t produce with it.
However, 2nd place is pretty good…………
April 7th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Score please!
April 7th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
around here we just hope Aldridge doesn’t turn into another
Eric Cheno-bitch
April 7th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Aldridge already getting the NBA love, eh? I like his game, but like him to log about 500 minutes next season before I make an actual judgment on how solid he really is.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
I hope rose keeps doing what he’s doing, and I hope CDR cools off cause holy is he hot. shooting-wise that is.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
33-28 Kansas at half
April 7th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Everyone else is on a beer run……….
April 7th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
er, Aldrich.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
I think my prediction that Memphis scores 90 some points is going to be wrong
April 7th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
The difference is the KU guards are getting the better of Rose thus far with double teams, and the KU big men are playing much better than the Tiger High big men. Rose is getting double teamed and sometimes triple teamed, so I’m not sure how to get around that. CDR needs to stay hot, and those Memphis big man need to start making some of those 7-10 footers.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
or a Dutches run
April 7th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
@ Sean Jean – As simple as it seems, I think the occasional big bucker from Anderson, Kemp, Mack will be what keeps the Tigers in it. Or CD-R is about to put it one of the great all-time performances.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Kicking it out to Anderson and Dozier and CDR for wide open 3’s is a start
re: Aldrich and the NBA … he’s 6-11 250 and can chew gum and run, so that’s a start. But Cherokee Parks and Eric Chenwith were that active, too. In fact, Montross and Ostertag were, as well.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
TBL: He’s been finding the open man when coming out of a double team. It’s just no one is hitting the shots. Except CDR.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Quick, someone get Bonnie Bernstein to that green screen right now.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
what a dumb ass question Clark Kellogg
April 7th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Man, there are “that’s what she said” jokes flying left and right!
- getting double and triple teamed
- finding the open man
April 7th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
I gotta hand it to Coach Williams that was a pretty good interview
April 7th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
sportsgal = Michael Scott.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
mafia- Dorsey should be getting some NBA love. He’s got an NBA body and will going get bigger. Guy couldn’t score for shit against UCLA, but he had 15 boards. I think he’s got a better chance of being the next Dwight Howard, if anyone does. Then again he went to college.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:30 pm

April 7th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with the fact that The Office comes back the very week hoops ENDS. It’s perfect timing for a guy that started this hoops blog business in November.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
oops…..jimmysnewhip.com
April 7th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Wow. That is a ridiculous Kansas graphic.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
fucking awful start to the 2nd half. terrible.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
coming out on fire, uh oh
April 7th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
great start to second half
April 7th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
they are owning rose though…he looks sick (ill)
April 7th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Two huge plays by Anderson.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
5 points is nothing
April 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
nice aggressive take, Chalmers
If Anderson is the Tigers’ 3rd scorer, then yes, KU is in trouble
April 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
memphis defense has managed to keep lobs to a minimum….maybe one….gotta admit that for two offensively crazy teams their defense is just as good.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Anderson big buckets what?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Anderson again!
April 7th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
refs are getting really tick-tacky now
April 7th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Now MEM is playin ball
April 7th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
come on, Chalmers
you can’t get beat back-door by a defensive specialist
leave him open again and hit the bench, pal
April 7th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
I know he coached there, but if KU wins, will Roy help them cut down the nets, too?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
arthur is killin em
April 7th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
not sure why, but both halves have seen terrible, sluggish starts for KU
keep going to Arthur!
April 7th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
cbs can’t keep roy of the camera….it’s as if they can’t live with some sort of Duke/UNC tie in to every f’ing game
April 7th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Go up strong Dozier. Damn.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
what a 3…….
April 7th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
what the fuck is that airball Chalmers?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
omg….worst shot ever by chalmers
April 7th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
stupid shot Chalmers
April 7th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Dozier fucking SOFT around the rim per usual. Sick lob by Rose but he looks weak in the face.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
can they replay that dunk again? i think i missed it
April 7th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
how many times are they gonna let joey dorsey hold/touch ball after shots he makes
April 7th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Good to see Memphis still hasn’t figured out the pick and roll
April 7th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
3rd on Dorsey … sweet. He’s got a bucket and assist, and he heads to the bench.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
seriously, refs are getting wistle happy
April 7th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
rose has a stomach bug? who knows who cares
fucking lead this team damnit
April 7th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
forgot Robinson was even playing
April 7th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
what’s with all the screens for rose…they didn’t do much of that before this game
April 7th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Jesus… Rush is one clumsy motherfucker. That’s happened like three times tonight.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Real helter skelter right now.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Agreed, if Rose can’t play he shouldn’t be on the court. Can’t believe I’m sayin this, but he seems to be hurtin MEM right now.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Nantz credits “the quick hands of Douglas-Roberts” for … Chalmers falling down? Huh?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
KU needs to realize that Rose and CDR are going to score … it’s the other guys you have to worry about. Nothing for Anderson! Don’t give them 2nd chances, and offensive, keep feeding Arthur
easier said then done, obvs
/said the guy who shoots 3 until he shoots his team in or out of the game
April 7th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
i think rush is the most nervous guy on the court tonight! not good for KU
April 7th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Gotta figure a helter skelter game favors Memphis since they’re an AAU team, and Rush sometimes seems like he can’t walk and dribble at the same time.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Oh, that was Rush. Durrrrrrrr.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
If KU loses (and that doesn’t seem like it right NOW) will Rush’s absence be the primary story from the KU angle?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
penny sucks
April 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Dozier is useless.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
give Dozier all those drives he wants
April 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
rose is done…can’t even make a layup
April 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
fuck!
April 7th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
rose needs to start scoring
April 7th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
i cant take anymore nantz and what’s his name anymore…
April 7th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
it looks like freethrows are gonna be important
April 7th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
how can none of those 3 gimmies fall? Not that it matters, but the team that shot at this hoop in the 2nd half lost both games Saturday.
And if you remember, UCLA and UNC each had a few very, very close three’s (practically in and out) that refused to fall.
/yes, i went there
April 7th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
“he has good penetrating ability”
April 7th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
CD-R consistently proving that he can take a beating and still make these shots will do more for his draft status than any other facet of his game.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
same basket in the first half
April 7th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Rush, do you want NBA $$? Well fucking lock him up on D. Toughen up, son. You have no fouls. Make him work, dammit
April 7th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
memphis needs to make KU shoort jumpers…start packing the middle
April 7th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
this half is just going so damn quick
come on Kansas, hold onto the damn ball
April 7th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
chalmers is the man
April 7th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
TBL you sound like grandfather.. son?… growing up too quick bro..
April 7th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Ohhhhhhh what a Ruuuuuuuuush!
April 7th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
CDR looks great. He has the middle range game down pat.
Rose maybe just woke up and realized he needs to put pressure on the defense as Packer keeps saying.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
rose looks terrible…unless he starts to carry the team and score about 38 from now on….his stock just plummeted
April 7th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Oh fuck, “Aliens” is on. No, no, I’m gonna keep watching basketball.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
@ sandibalz – Rose’s stock will fall no further than No. 3 … and that’s only if he gets about five DUIs between now and June.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
chalmers is a pain in the ass
April 7th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
@ hoops – ok…you might be right, but still, if they lose he’s gotta take a hit….he carried them here and totally dogging it now
April 7th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Let’s see who guards CDR with Rush out of the game …. it’s Chalmers … yikes
April 7th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Does anyone care about the Women’s Championship tomorrow? Because ESPN is running a clock to the start of the game. It’s only about 20 hours until tip-off.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
look at memphis….they stopped moving, very tired
April 7th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
take over Rose take over
April 7th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
why would you go and bring up womens ball….
April 7th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
How come nobody’s put Rose on his ass? Well, not Arthur
April 7th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
wtf, stupid ass three’s
April 7th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
this 3-point shooting will kill kansas
April 7th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Rush seems like he’ll be due for a much-needed 3 before this one’s over. Is it Rose time?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Emergency……the neck of my beer froze!!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Sometimes, Rush makes it look so damn easy. Now play some D, son!
April 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
zone? FIND ANDERSON!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
chalmers is the man, again
April 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Not if they keep getting layups and dunks…
April 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
box and one kills ya Bill
count that by Dozier
April 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
i dont like going down the stretch in a tight game against a player like Rose. And CDR. If KU doesn’t pull away soon, im going to be sad.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Nice draw Dozier, the next 9 minutes are looking to be good.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Freebies not falling now for Memphis…
April 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
refs are getting crazy with the wistles….let them play in the first hald, they’ve practically stopped the game
April 7th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
@ pig. Relax, and take a deep breath. We’re gonna make it through this
April 7th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
taking over
April 7th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
kaun, why? Arthur is on the floor, he’s got to be the guy.
I don’t like a gimmick defense here … and of course Rose hits a three.
Just let Rush play him straight up.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
get out of the fucking zone Self!
April 7th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
ROSE…..3…….he’s heating up……..
April 7th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Jim Nantz: Both coaches met their wives in Lawrence Kansas of all places
(Translation: Women in Lawrence are ugly)
April 7th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
didn’t play zone practically at all til this last 5 minutes…why fix what aint broke
April 7th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Triston…I survived, after chewing a chunk of Beer-ice
April 7th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
I thought Self met his wife at Ok. State? Weren’t they making a big deal about that during the OSU questions earlier in the week?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
I’ll strongly disagree with Nantz assumption of Lawrence women.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
I would like to amend something I said earlier today…I hate Billy Packer worse than I hate Redlasso.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
I couldn’t be less excited for a superhero movie than Ironman. Wait … Affleck did one a couple years back…
April 7th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
In a game where you’re defense is playing very well against a superb offensive team, you switch up defenses with 9:00 left in the game?
Things like this are the primary reasons people questioned whether Bill Self would ever get to a Final Four…
April 7th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
espn’s gamecast is sponsored by Trojan condoms
April 7th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
cbs has made me hate nantz and what’s his name, with putting them on every game that happens to be on tv. I hate CBS
April 7th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
a foul, no no no
Rush has been falling all night, clumsy ass
April 7th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
The refs need to swallow the gd whistles.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Don’t think Rush was tripped, I believe it was his big toe……AGAIN!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
well, I hope you’re happy TBL….the refs have managed to slow this game to a crawl…should last a good long time now
April 7th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
cbs has made me hate nantz and what’s his name, with putting them on every game that happens to be on tv. I hate CBS
It could be much, much worse…Dick Vitale could be doing this game
April 7th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Guys – it was a foul
April 7th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
sandbailz- At least one of those games was close last night. Even if it was one of the most anemic games to watch. But you’re right, won’t happen again. If you’re watching ESPN right now, you are not a sports fan.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Rose decided to show up in the 2nd half, that was anticipated … what wasn’t is Brandon Rush. 3-for-5 for 8 points. There’s 8 minutes left in the game. Not asking the guy to force shots, but you are The Guy on Kansas, so how about asking for the ball more?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
did somebody tie a knot in Rush’s shoes? Well played Calipari, well played
April 7th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
See, I can tolerate Vitale. Packer is infuriating. But that’s me.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
@butters- no it did get worse,Dicky V is in the hall of fame
April 7th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
I thought that there was nothing worse than going to work today and having to deal with my boss when he’s a Lawrence, KS native and me being a huge tarheel fan, but if they win this I may have to quit.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
I’ve been waiting for a movie that would pair Steve Carrell and The Rock!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
I’m beginning to hate this thread. Every two seconds I see TBL posting something about one of the Kansas players sucking, which is totally ruining my Bachelor-watching experience.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
NBA JAM
April 7th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Rose is back.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Starting to feel it, is the flower…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
At least Anne Hathaway is hot. This is an opinion that has been the source of much controversy with my roommates.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Your roommates are idiots.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
GD, WTF….they might need to put rush on rose
April 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
*stewing*
Why Kaun? Why not Arthur? Rush feeding Arthur? Let’s see them double Arthur
April 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Jack, I agree completely.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Sportsgal – not to ruin it for you, but the bachelor will tell the girls they are amazing, bang as many as he can, pick the one freakiest in bed, and then break up with her soon after the show ends.
Now watch the game.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
No matter how bad Kansas is doing, they can’t suck as good as the Bachelor……
April 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
tired legs Kansas?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Slip slidin’ away….
April 7th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Zbuckner…I’m with your roommates. She’s not that hot.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
which is totally ruining my Bachelor-watching experience
They should set that show in Lawrence…Jim Nantz says it’s a hotbed for love
April 7th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
ticky-tacky
April 7th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
kemp needs to make it rain
April 7th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
CDR goes out … come on Kansas, take adv.
Go right to Rush
now
April 7th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
That was shitty on both ends….
April 7th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
missed opportunity…cant do that against KU
April 7th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Kemp looked like an overzealous 4th grader after that steal.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
KU can’t buy a bunny.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
unreal
such a bad stretch
a 3 here would be killer
please stay on Anderson here
April 7th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Yes, but the best part is watching the girls cry about not being picked and acting like psychos! It makes me feel so much better about myself…
As for the game, if Kansas wins I get $500. If not, I get to listen to all you mother fucking Memphis fans gloat AND not win any money. So I’d rather watch the Bachelor.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
See, I’m of the opinion her face is decent, her body (I mean her rack) is saweet, and she seems like she may be pretty cool (cuz, ya know, I know her…). That, and she takes her clothes off…a lot.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
HUGE. Nice Rose.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
OMG….how do you not get that rebound
April 7th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
kansas is tired
rose taking over
April 7th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Congrats Memphis
April 7th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
All of Nantz’s trophy presentations should be in the maudlin Butler Cabin.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
I wish I could move in the air like that.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
If you’re going to foul Rose, why not clobber him? The kid is tough, he can take it.
This blows.
Goodbye loot
April 7th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Roy Williams must be watching the Kansas offense in this half and thinking “this takes me back to the mid-90’s”
April 7th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
He looked like a young Stephen Curry there.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
this is starting to suck balls
April 7th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Rose taking over the #1 pick with this game
April 7th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Good points Zbuckner. As celebrities go, I’d do it…but I wouldn’t buy her dinner.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
All of Nantz’s trophy presentations should be in the maudlin Butler Cabin
What a moment
April 7th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
down 7. ugh.
Where are Rush. Where is Arthur?
Wow, Collins got lucky there, will take it
April 7th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Biggest possession of the season … and Kansas goes to the frackin’ weave at the top of the key. Lucky your players are so damn good, Self…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
fucking Kansas. always a bridesmaid, never a bride
April 7th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
crucial 3 seconds on the shot clock here
need a stop ….
April 7th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Fuckin’ game over after that.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Ouch.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
“There’s the shot of the tournament.”-Nantz
April 7th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
WOW
April 7th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
That was not the shot of the tournament, Nantz.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
/still stunned, just now picking jaw up off the floor
April 7th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Wow
April 7th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
I respectfully disagree rittyrich, but I can understand what you’re saying. This is opposed to my roommates and I starting out like that and it escalating into a full blown fistfight in our living room. We’ve broken like 3 couches this school year.
Derrick Rose is nutty.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
how money is he huh, wow
April 7th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Rose at his best when he is penetrating and dribbling, but when he shoots outside he’s scary. And when I say scary, I mean not in a good way. As I type this, he starts to take the game over.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
“Absolutely brilliant”???? “ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT”?!?!?!
He banked in a three at the buzzer of the shot clock! If he meant to do that, I’ll buy him lunch at Q’Doba every day for the rest of his life.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
Self should draw up a play where Rush lifts Collins for the shot similar to how Willis picked up Arnold on the playground just before Mr. Drummond rolled up in his limo.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
I dont know man … shot clock winding down, under 4 mins left in the title game, your team only up 5 … i guess KU could make him eat those words, but im convinced this one’s over. You knew Rose was going to take over, but what happened to KU at the offensive end? Why did Rush shrivel up? Why’d they stop going to Arthur?
Self’s going to get ripped for the gimmick defense, too
April 7th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
still may come down to hitting free throws for Memphis. they have been over 70% so far for the tourney
April 7th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
If Kemp made that same shot, everyone would have been like, “lucky.” Since Rose made it we’ll have to see it on SI commercials for the Memphis commemorative book – ad nauseum.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
I’m not sure how Rose will fair in the NBA. He is a great and very talented player, but he isn’t of the mold of the PG’s currently excelling in the NBA (CP3, Deron, Nash, etc.). He isn’t a pass first player who has a great shot. That can develop for sure, but he is more of a penetrator and scoring PG. Not sure who to compare him too.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
sandbailz- Billy Packer is a bitter guy and thinks he’s god’s gift to college basketball as an analyst. I could do what he does after downing a six-pack of PBR. He talks every time someone dribbles the ball. He’s all filler and talks to much. The guy drives me fucking nuts. Is Nantz CBS’s only sportscaster?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
FUCK YOU, BILL SELF! I fucking hate you and your team. I took weeks of abuse from dudes over my bracket, I’m sitting in 3rd fucking place and all I need is a goddamn Kansas win to shut up all those fuckers. So what do you do? You choke like a fucking bunch of assholes. Now it’s 10:15, and I’m too pissed to go to bed even though I have a fucking meeting at 7am.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
bullshit Billy thats a three
April 7th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Hahahaha. “I think that’s definitely a two,” says Packer. What a dolt.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
I’ll buy him lunch at Q’Doba every day for the rest of his life
I heard that if you eat Qdoba for more than one day in a row you’ll end up on a toilet for 2 years like that one woman in Wichita
April 7th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
rittyrich: He’s earned it.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
“I think it’s definitely a two?”
No fucking shit Billy. You’re staying at evidence that it was a two. Numbnuts.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
plenty of time left, i just don’t see it happening. so sad.
if you guys only knew. if you only knew.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
rush cant make a finger roll and TBL was talking nba lottery pick
ha
April 7th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Well then.
7 am? Who schedules those meetings?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Pull a Jimmy V – start fouling now and make them earn if from the line.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Maybe so Sean Jean.
Is anyone else scared to death of sportsgal?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Have they had the stats on the LED board at midcourt all game? I just noticed.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
zone will kill them again
April 7th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Ooh, a 3-2 zone. I can’t wait to see how this backfires…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Dozier thinks it’s a game of hand ball.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
so tough to grab rebounds in these junk fucking defenses
April 7th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Well Sportsgal is about a bitter a person as I’ve seen in a long time. And I agree with TBL, 7am? Jesus.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
it’s over
April 7th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Please Kansas cover this spread. For the love of God!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
I’m terrifired of her.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Where’s that picture of Ozzie Guillen TBL posted this morning…that’s an accurate description of Kansas’ second half tonight
April 7th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
free throw time, 70 % boys cmon
April 7th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Was the over/under REALLY 160? The total is at 110 now!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Packer calls for the fouling after he notices Bell Self making the hand gesture to his team in the background.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Kansas has 4 points in the last 7 minutes.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
well folks, it’s been fun. My laptop is going through the window. If I don’t trip with it first ala Brandon Rush
April 7th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
As long as sportsgal isn’t from Lawrence, Kansas, I’m not scared of her one bit.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Kansas will be down 9 after this. No shot at covering. I’m so pissed I may just turn off the TV and try to time One Shining Moment.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
I’m bitter beyond belief. And I have a 7am meeting because I work with a bunch of douche bags that are in the eastern time zone, so if they schedule an 8am meeting, it means I have to be on at 7. Apparently I’m the only human being in the office that watches sports.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
watch memphis go 10 for 10 from the line in the last two minutes.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
@ TBL – I told my buddy to take the over … he put 100 on it….
April 7th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
She could be from Nebraska…home of the fat girl.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
@ tribal, are you in Lawrence?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Game over. The best team won. No reason to blame Self. He did a great job getting his team here. Memphis was just the team this year.
Yay Tennessee! Defeated the last three National Champs in the regular season!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
When was the last time Arthur scored? 15 minutes ago? Offensively, KU really let me down in the second half. They went to that lame dribble handoff shit, and should have had Rush/Chalmers feeding Arthur. When the double came, it should have been triple time.
I’m disgusted and angry
April 7th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Derrick Rose #1 pick in the draft
April 7th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Oh shit. I spoke too soon. 4 point game.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Wow, if I had a 7am meeting or class, I’d clearly skip it…wait, I have an 8am, and 9:30am class…fuck it. I’m skipping them too.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Uh Oh!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
This game just became interesting
April 7th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
This game ain’t D-U-N just yet…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
oh fuck
better make the free throws damnit
title on the line
April 7th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
nice hustle, Collins. but Memphis is so automatic from the line …
/reverse jinx, people
April 7th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Enough with the golf alreayd. Damn. And what about that steal-and-3. Wow.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Is that the entire Bible on his arm?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Wait, did someone just call me fat?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
next time he goes to the line, someone needs to go up to him like LeBron did to Gil Arenas two years ago…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
We’re almost at the magic time of Nantz pulling out the weepy anecdotes of triumph over personal tragedies.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
This might the first time in announcing history that someone has said a team needs a three with over a minute left in the game
April 7th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
Joey Dorsey’s career is over.
See you in the pros, bud
Nice career
April 7th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Did Packer just call Dorsey the greatest player in Tiger history? What the f’ing f? Are you retarded?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
No Sportsgal. The answer is always no.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
next time he goes to the line, someone needs to go up to him like LeBron did to Gil Arenas two years ago
Pippen to Karl Malone in Game One of the 1997 Finals was so much better:
The Mailman doesn’t deliver in Sunday
April 7th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
On Sunday…fuck
April 7th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Only if you’re from Nebraska Sportgal. Actually I’m just saying the chances are higher. Of course I’m basing 100% of that sterotype on the one girl I know from Nebraska…who is fat.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Triston- I’ve in Leavenworth playing flag football with Michael Vick.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
KU looks like a dangerous group of Italian pickpockets out there right now, Memphis better not get too cocky with their ballhandling.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Nantz jinx, here comes missed free throws…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
2 point game. Wow!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
he said he was the winningest player in memphis history, not greatest.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
miracle? Please?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
don’t need to foul now
April 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
TOUGH D HERE!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
not all girls from Nebraska are fat. they are big boned.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
please? miracle? begging?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
Not from Nebraska, so thanks for not adding to the beating the fucking Jayhawks just gave me.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Rose will hit two more free throws and seal it after this TO
April 7th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
2 pt game, 44 seconds…….awesome.
TBL, did you get the line at 2? Golden baby……
April 7th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Please don’t allow another offensive rebound.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Bill Self wife
bow wow
April 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Since it’s so hard to be the first to say anything as it happens, I’m going to go ahead and comment on the end of the game, and cross my fingers in hopes I get to say it – “Holy Shit!”
April 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Wait a minute, what the hell happened? I started watching “Aliens”! Paul Reiser is being slimy and annoying! WTF!?!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
time to pass the collection hat around for TBL? maybe add a paypal donations button?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Fuck, it’s going to be a push, which means I’m gonna lose.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
That ref wanted his 3 seconds of fame there
April 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
So old lady Self was from OK St…Nantz lied to me earlier
April 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
get that shit ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuttttttttttttttt
April 7th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
WHAT THE FUCK IS COLLINS THINKING?????????????
April 7th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Fucking stupid…….
April 7th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
A lotta contact there.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
THAT LIMEY COCKSUCKER, THINK!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
OOOOOOOHHHHHHH, NOONAN!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Ball gets a little heavier doesn’t it buddy
April 7th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
CDR! Hit the free throws!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Wow. CD-R hit this second one PLEASE….wow. Dozier
April 7th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Ouch man
April 7th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
T ‘em up!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
How can you not get that rebound.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Holy Shit!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Rose hitting these and its over baby
Coach CAL getting his finally
April 7th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Uh, obvious tech?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
you have to be kidding me. he missed both AND then they get the off rebound?
Ok, that’s two potential techs that Memphis got away with. The Dorsey dunk and hold the ball in the first half, and now that. But i can’t quibble. Memphis has left the door open with these bricks. Pray that Rose misses both
April 7th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
So tense. I love college basketball.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Great. Memphis wins outright, but all we hear about for the next week is how cdr should have been t’d up and how this win wasn’t legit because they didn’t ring him up.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Jesus Arthur…they not practicing rebounding this week?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
I love it when cheaters win titles.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Rose hits 1, Rush ties it up with a 3.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
You have to give him a T on that one. No need for that nonsense. That already missed the Dorsey warning. Too bad CBS only replayed CDR slamming the ball down once.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
NOONAN!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
fuck
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
HOLY FUCK!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
BOOM!!!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!1!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
my god. my fucking god.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
HOLY SHIT! CHALMERS!
What a fucking game
April 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
CHALMERS!!!!!!!!!
CHOKE CITY MEMPHIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
I think they’ll review the 3
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
Chalmers has ONIONS!!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
rittyrich is psychic…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
foot on line, bullshit review that
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
Can we start ranking this one up there wiht one of the best championship games??
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
I told yall I would get to say HOLY SHIT!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
Damn, and I almost went with Chalmers…
TBL, how you feeling baby!!!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
ok, i dont want to jinx it … but Chalmers’ toe was dangerously close to the line …
Can you guys believe the spread was 2? He missed that, and everyone wins a lot of money. Instead, a few people might win a lot of money.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
Rose’s missed FT now goes down in history alongside Webber’s TO, does it not?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
I think I awarded the Ozzie Guillen Choke Award a little too soon…amazing that the one thing people ragged on Memphis for all season came back to bite them in the ass at the absolute worst possible time
April 7th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
why didn’t the foul???????? coach cal, so dumb.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
I’s like to see a replay of the 3 too. Both refs had their hands raised though.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
lets play some FUCKING basketball
April 7th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
If any of you are in Chicago right now, you probably just heard my heart explode.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
THAT, JIM NANTZ, was the shot of the tournament. I went bananas here, i didnt hear the call. Anyone know what he said on the bucket?
No Dorsey, they BETTER POUND IT DOWN to Arthur instantly
April 7th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
so much for calipari saying free throws were the 26th thing hes worried about…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
didn’t Memphis have like 3 timeouts left, WTF…why not call a TO after the huge 3?!?!?!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
That’s what you get for not fouling.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
One out of four free throws in the last 15 seconds. Woops.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
cmon damnit i got 500 on Memphis
April 7th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Jimmy – I noticed that too (about the refs). The replay made the foot/line look a little clearer. At first glance during the live play I thought it was closer.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
good point, totally forgot Memphis should have just fouled
April 7th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Memphis is in big trouble now, with no Dorsey and CDR appearing to have a bum ankle. No bench points and shitty free-throw shooting, all Kansas has to do is foul.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Wow. Kansas with all the mo.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
god they suck at freethrows
April 7th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
I’m glad I didn’t wager on this game…this has just been fun as hell to watch
April 7th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Sherron Collins is a going to give someone in Lawrence a heart attack tonight … dude is wild, and crazy … but has totally come through – that steal and triple near the end of regulation started it all.
Come on Jayhawks, daddy needs a new server!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
So who choked more, CDR or Rose? I vote CDR cuz Rose at least ensured they wouldn’t lose in regulation, and he missed his last 3 FT.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
KU should send Memphis to the line every trip. Those guys are toast at the line.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
No. Waaay to sloppy of a game.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
This is hilarious.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
How on earth do you not foul? Just awful.
KU has this one, sorry Memphis fans.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Early in the OT, Memphis seems deflated.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
I’m in Lawrence and I have the paramedics standing by
April 7th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
I have a headache from hell right now.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
TBl your server is fucked LOL
April 7th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
i think CDR is fine … Rose had a cramp, but he’s good.
Well, CDR isn’t fine; those choked FTs are in his head, obvi
April 7th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
yeah kansas knows what its like to be in OT for the championship…all these guys back in 1957 played HUGE minutes
April 7th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
I’m pretty sure that Calipari’s no-care attitude toward FT shooting was more of a psychological tactic than anything else.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
I can’t believe Memphis is going to blow this game and cost me winning four different pools.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
WTF make a shot you fuck
April 7th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
nomo- I agree this game is sloppy as hell, and this guys have never been in a situation like this before. I’d love to see Rush block a potential game-winning three by CDR or Rose, ala Hakim Warrik for ‘Cuse. Roy Williams suck a dick. Memphis needs a basket, not a three but a basket.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
This game reminds me of the Georgetown-UNC game in the regional final last season in terms of pure momentum
April 7th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
momentum: swung
April 7th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
yesssssssssssssssssssss
April 7th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Chitwood: Totally agree. It’s still hilarious.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
fucking bullshit
see yall bastards tomorrow
April 7th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
what a fantastic game
tremendous
down 9 with 2 mins left?
Nantz must furiously be working on some Kansas title line … i bet he scribbled something about Rose near the end of reg
April 7th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Memphis is done.
I hate to say it Coach Cal (well, not really because he’s a prick), but it looks like free throws are going to cost you the championship.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I’m starting to think it’s actually the first 4 minutes of OT that are the most important.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I win 11 cases of beer if Kansas wins for winning one of my pools. 12-person 1 case of beer buy-in. Thank you, God.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
@Jeff – I thought the same thing! All that experience from the 1957 game is really pulling them through right now. I bet half of these kid’s parents weren’t even born in 1957!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
The difference between Kansas and Memphis. Kansas wins titles, Memphis wins nothing. Memphis competes in C-USA. Kansas competes in the Big 12. Memphis blew it, but looks like it will win me some big bucks.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
“Self-motivated, the Jayhawks win the championship!”
April 7th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Nomo – good one
April 7th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
TBL, he’s gotta work Dorothy, Toto, and making Memphis Dust in the Wind into his outro.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
I know I’m into it because my hands are quite shaky right now.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Zbuck – that’s an awesome pool, can I get in next year?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
But Kansas only went 1-and-1 in those back-to-back triple overtime games in 1957, so really, how much experience did these guys get?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
shit. can’t they get arthur in the post? what happened? What a waste of a possession
April 7th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
“To thine own Self be true…Kansas wins it!”
April 7th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
whew
sketch sequence
April 7th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
Jackson coming strong
April 7th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
Pig Sooie – Absolutely. You can FedEx you’re case of beer to us if you don’t win.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
Double-OT? Do I feel it?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
you can’t give him an open 3? What the hell!!!!
come on, guys’s got like 30!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
A “Carry On My Wayward Son” reference?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
does anyone ever miss a clutch 3 pointer in a NCAA tourney game?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
A buck says that Nantz gets so frazzled that he trips up and goes with the wrong title line.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
ZBuck – is there a “minimum” quality requirement? I mean, if somebody throws in a Natty Light case it’s not quite like throwing in a quality microbrew.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
TBL, can you get with the program and stop being a jinx?! Seriously dude. You’re making my headache even worse.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
“Lawrence of San Antonio is the champion…rock, chalk, Jayhawk!”
April 7th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
MAKE A FUCKING STOP RIGHT NOW.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
I’ve noticed that Kansas has drawn up pretty good plays coming out of timeouts when they needed them during the tourney. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of play they get off here.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
im gonna go simple for nantz…rock chalk jayhawk…kansas is the NCAA champions
April 7th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
Roethlishotdog, kinda makes it a bitch to get into a case pool if you have to go in and out of a six-pack shop a couple of times.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
come on 75 kansas – 71 memphis
April 7th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
“Rush to glory…Brandon leads them to a title!”
April 7th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
If this goes double-OT, I think I might pass out.
This game almost – ALMOST – makes up for how shitty the last two weekends were.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
Game. KU wins.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
That’s the game. Can’t believe CD-R couldn’t lasso that ball in.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
We all make a list of the beers we would want and submit it to the commish (me), and then tell everybody what to buy. Nothing too extravegant, nothing too cheap…well, the too extravegant thing is a lie, we all had at least a couple expensive microbrews in there.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
Zbuck – I work in Logistics and get discount with Fedex, I’m in.
Roeth – I thought that was called Financial Light (college days).
April 7th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
anyone else going to go buy their Rodrick Stewart comemerative knee brace?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
Memphis is playing school-yard now. They’re jacking up threes and it’s all brick-city. Keep milking the click KU. Kansas has only missed one free-throw. How many has Memphis missed? At least four down the stretch. Take a look at the percentages, KU deserves to win this game. Game Over! I cover.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
C-nomo – I live in PA, if I want a case, six pack and bottle of something I have to go to 3 different stores. Talk about pain in the ass.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
game
April 7th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
I’ve run out of ideas…it’s in your hands now Nantz-y
April 7th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
I think they need to put about 5 or 6 seconds back on the clock.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
Guys and gals, I’ve just got to share with you the fact that I NEVER EVER EVER win these close ones when it comes to Final Four picks. We’re going on a decade here. Syracuse in 2003 is the only exception. Memphis, you’re only continuing the trend. What. A. Chokejob.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Pig Sooie – Nice, I’ll have to remember to post about it before tourney time next year.
I’m at school in Eastern PA, we drink the always classy Keystone Light, even though those fuckers raised the price of a 30 from 14.95 to 15.95 over Spring Break. Assholes.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Memphis should never have lost this game. Just terrible end-game coaching.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
I can’t believe CBS hasn’t reviewed the Chalmers three at the end of regulation. Not even one second look? They gave that Rose triple eight looks.
At any rate, I leapt higher than I do on most layups.
Make this last one Collins. Please.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
“a little kiss”
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
I cut out the middleman and go straight to the Yuengling distributor when I go to PSU games.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Rock, chalk, championship!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
And I’m from NJ, go to school in PA. You PAers have retarded liquor laws.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
damnit…I thought I called it!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Nothing too terrible from Nantz there.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
“Rock Chalk Championship”? Weak.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
C Hoops – it could be worse. We have a guy in our pool who had the entire final four correct, the final two correct, and has Kansas winning, and yet he did so bad in the first couple of rounds he won’t win any money.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
My god. My fucking god I don’t believe it. Who wants a blow job, I’m in celebration mode!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Rock Chalk Championship…Kansas takes the title!
April 7th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
im gonna go simple for nantz…rock chalk jayhawk…kansas is the NCAA champions
I guess you’ve won this round
April 7th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
Rock Chalk Championship, Kansas takes the title
Not bad, but it helped that Kansas got to dribble out the clock
April 7th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
whoa
April 7th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
Sportsgal, where do you live?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
Still didn’t cover the over? Too bad, TBL.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
See yinz tomorrow
April 7th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
FUCK YEAH
April 7th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
The ball is tipped…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
75-68.
Helluva game. Incredible, in fact.
Is that the most clutch shot at the end of regulation since Keith Smart? I’m trying to think of the 90s … anything in the title game?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
My god. My fucking god I don’t believe it. Who wants a blow job, I’m in celebration mode!!!
Madison to Chicago is a short drive at this time of night…
April 7th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
lets just get to one shining moment so I can goto sleep
April 7th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
TBL…75 to 71 (since fridday) has to be worth something for me
April 7th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
I’m trying to think of the 90s … anything in the title game?
Did anyone make a shot late to send the 1997 game into overtime between Kentucky and Arizona…I really can’t remember
April 7th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
<——- Happiest man on Earth. Is it gay to say I cried? No? OK.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
Scotty Thurman, TBL
April 7th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
For some reason I remember the games from the 80’s much more clearly than the 90’s and 00’s
April 7th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
@ TBL – Most clutch play since Warrick in ‘03 … UConn had a big one against Duke, but Chalmers play is clearly above that. I’m a little hazy on the ‘Zona/KY game in ‘97, but this has gotta be the biggest shot in a title game since Smart won it.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
I’m new to this cyber-game watching thing. Do we pull our pants back up now? Weakly say I’ll chat with you all tomorrow? Maybe suggest we step it up to a phone call for the Stanley Cup?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
TBL: That’s gotta be close. I can’t think of one closer. The only ones that come to mind are Warrick’s blocked shot in ‘03 and … I don’t know, maybe there was a late shot in the ‘89 Michigan-Seton Hall game. That went to OT, didn’t it?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
who wants to go to downtown Lawrence with me?
April 7th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
TBL, I was pretty close.

sweet adjustable hats…they cant spring for the fitted caps…like the players wear??
April 7th, 2008 at 11:56 pm
Cool chick.
Didn’t bet the over. Had KU ML and KU +2.
I’m doing my little Danny Green dance over here.
April 7th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
Sherron Collins looks a bit like Reggie Bush
April 7th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
that other guy has FLAMING red hair…good lord
April 7th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
I seriously think you should use the Ozzie pic for the title game post tomorrow…credit Kansas but Memphis blew this one something fierce
April 7th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
73-69 isn’t bad, Mike
I had 73-67
Too bad I was way off about Robinson, who didn’t do any damage on Rose … but Collins did. CDR got his, too.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:00 am
I like Luther, but still prefer the Teddy Pendergrass rendition of One Shining Moment
April 8th, 2008 at 12:00 am
Good memory. I believe Rumeal Robinson drove and was fouled and made two free throws with like 1 second left on the clock or something
April 8th, 2008 at 12:00 am
What a choke job and it should be all on CDR’s shoulders!! He took 1 shot in the last 13 minutes of regulation and missed his last 3 free throws in regulation that would’ve locked it. He completely disappeared!!!! Pathetic. Plus, what an ugly as sin game. Both teams looked like chickens with their heads cut off, no flow at all.

“Memphis really bothered us with their length…”
Sounds like some guy’s gonna bother Sportsgal with his length tonight

So “Client #78, C. Rammel” wins the TBL Bracket Challenge thing. Anyone have any idea who the hell that is?
April 8th, 2008 at 12:06 am
Jeff must be talking about the Orioles game, in which case, I’ve got the Orioles (I’m gong to take all the wins I can at this point).

Rock Chalk Championship. All 4 #1’s. All Chalk. Good call Nantz. Good call. Now it’s time for one shining moment.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:09 am
I’m client 9! That bracket just won me $500 and some dude in chicago a blow job!
April 8th, 2008 at 12:09 am
Nice. Yo Gonzo, just got tickets to the first 2 games of the Mets-Phils series in Philly. Me and 5 of my buddies are off class (no idea why), getting there at like 10am both days…the game Friday is at 7:05. I’m already excited.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:10 am
See, it’s between SanFran and Chicago for my poast college city, and Sportsgal is doing one helluva job pushing Chicago.

Sportsgal, I’m all yours, let’s make it rain!
April 8th, 2008 at 12:13 am
ZBuck- The Mets are unbeatable. Unless they’re playing the Phils, or the Braves, and when big Willie realizes he has know idea on how to handle a major league bullpen.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:14 am
Calipari looks like he’s aged about 10 years tonight. You know he’s hitting the bottle in about 5 minutes.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:15 am
I won 7 bucks playing Silver Strike Bowling last night. I made it rain, but I don’t get what all the excitement is about.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:15 am
I think the thing with Willie is already happening. I would’ve said it will be a shootout with the Phils until Pedro got hurt, now I lean towards the Phillies purely based on the psychological edge. And there’s going to be major injury problems in NY…or already are.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:17 am
So now Self will leave to OSU and KU will take Calipari. Kansas will basically pull it out and slap it across the Memphis forehead now.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:20 am
This is why I regret going to a DII school. If I went to Kansas I would be belligerent. And that ladies and gents, is why UCLA is leading on the grad school list for its writing program and so, so, so many other reasons.

did anyone see that the fucking ladder they use to cut down the nets was sponsored by a ladder company?
April 8th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Hey Buckner. sorry I missed you last night. Kudos on getting seats to the game. Let’s hope we can keep up our 10 game winning streak against the Mets today at 1pm.
