Ballin’: Playoff Intensity
NBA April 20th. 2008, 12:38pmSan Antonio 117, Phoenix 115, 2 OT: My words can’t do this game justice. Tim Duncan scored 40 including his first 3 of the season which sent the game to double-OT. Manu Ginobili 24 including 8 in the sixth frame. Amare scored 33 before fouling out. Can we start a petition to make this a 21-game series?
Cleveland 93, Washington 86: Agent Zero came off the bench firing – hitting 4 quick three’s – and the Wizards looked like they could pull away…for a minute. Then… this is the part where I gush over the nastiness that is King James. Dude’s a monster. Started slow, got knocked down and then scored 32 points. The Big Z added 22 as the Cavs took a 1-0 series lead.
Utah 93, Houston 82: Carlos Boozer scored 20 points and grabbed 16 boards while Deron Williams scored 20 and handed out 10 assists. T-Mac had 20 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds in his 250th first round playoff game. Jazz are up 1-0.
New Olreans 104, Dallas 92: Dallas’ experience really came into play in this one. Dirk scored 31 and had 10 boards. 35 points, 10 assists and 1 turnover for CP3 in his playoff debut. Tyson Chandler pulled down 15 rebounds and David scored a quiet 23 as the Hornets took the first game of the series.

So Orlando leads the league in 3s and Sam Mitchell goes to a 2-3 zone?
Sam Mitchell does not want me posting on this board for a month, apparently.

Mike Dunleavy is one of the best color guys in the business. Too bad his day job as a horrible NBA coach takes him away from it far too often.

David West, not David. Yesterday was literally the first time I’ve ever seen him play basketball, he does not qualify for one name status, not even close.

Can anyone explain what the hell the call was at the end of the Cavs game when Delonte West stole Gilbert’s inbound pass?

Sam Mitchell needs to stop snitchin’.
I hope Kenard puts some hot ones in his chest for that review mess.

Push. push. in the bush. Don’t step on the toes, ’cause you might get smushed.
None of you have commented on Coolio. For shame. Hand in your man card at once.

Brave, I think Gilbert fouled him while he was still out of bounds and I think that’s a super no-no. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
April 20th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
I couldn’t figure that out, either. If it’s a no-no, why did they jump it up? We should have just been given the ball.

Nick, I kinda flipped the channel, so I wasn’t paying full attention. Game ws over anyway, but I agree with you. it looked as if G-Are was still OOB.

@Gonzo:I was at the game, and they didn’t explain it at all, so I have no clue.
April 20th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Wow, that’s awesome man. I’ve never been to an NBA playoff game. I bet it was electric there. How much did you blow up when LeBron slammed home the alley-oop?
April 20th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
Yeah it was sweet.
Why does Bargnani get burn? He’s the worst player on the court every time he plays.
April 20th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
As long as the Raptors win one of the first two on the road, they’ll be fine. Would be nice if the Raptors pretended to play defense.
Gonzo – Around 915 am this morning on Sportscenter, they made reference to LeBron waving his hand in front of his face and the phrase, ‘i can’t feel my face’ was used. Can you find that on Red Lasso? I am having no luck, and, well, you are the master.

It was right after Z threw him the oop on the baseline.

(opens up trench coat) TBL, are you sure you don’t want clips of Danica winning her first ever race? I gots plenty of ‘em.
April 20th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Suns were up by about 10 with 4 minutes left and I had the brilliant idea of “Well, this game’s over. I’ll go to the gym now”. I got home and couldn’t have felt worse if Chris Hansen from Dateline was sitting at my kitchen table.
April 20th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Gonzo – sure, could use a danica clip.
Anyone else love how the Magic have a 15 point lead and have all these jokers just jacking crap up instead of going inside to Howard? It was just at 7 … back to 10
April 20th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
As if the Denver Nuggets didn’t have enough problems getting torched on defense:

@Gonzo: have you figured out the quote yet from the league board? I’ll give you a hint, replace horse penis with toe. Got it?
April 20th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
Can someone wake Tracy McGrady up and tell him the playoffs started? Thanks…….

I’m normally not that impressed by NBA dunks (I enjoy good lateral defensive movement and proper box out technique), but LeBron’s dunk was sickkkkk.
April 20th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Grunge.. TMAC was 7 of 21, I’d say he knows damn well what time of the year it is.
April 20th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
@cursed.. good lateral defensive movement? proper box out technique?
the WNBA wants YOU as a fan!
April 20th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Even the WNBA thinks proper box outs are teh gay now.
+1 cursed for #23

The awkward way Ginoseli landed had me hoping he blew out his knee. Sadly, he didn’t.

I watched the Washington game basically in its entirety, and yeah, the Wizards aren’t winning this series. They may steal a game or two, but it won’t happen. This team is so fundamentally flawed, I’m shocked it has stayed virtually intact for going on 3 to 4 years now. They have no consistent inside presence, consistently take horrible horrible jump shots late in games (like this weekend, which cost them the game), and just can’t get it done. Gilbert is a fine player and a great shooter, but I still don’t think he is a top 10 player like so many people like to think. I think he is on the outside of a top 20 player in the league. That’s why he hasn’t ever been anywhere near a deep playoff run. That type of basketball simply won’t get you very far.

TBL always hating on the Magic. What else is new, but at least you watched them finally
