The Roundup: The Sordid (and Alleged) Affair Between Roger Clemens and Mindy McCready
Athletes and Celebrities, Baseball, Car Racing, Media Gossip/Musings, Music, NBA, NFL April 28th. 2008, 7:19am
This is not McCready, but rather Minka Kelly, everyone’s favorite Friday Light Nights good-girl … Pam Anderson decided to really class it up for the White House dinner … an odd goodbye, no? … just like you don’t buy expensive umbrellas or pens, you don’t attend air shows … TJ Simers is good people … dozens of earthquakes hit Reno, Nevada … did Billy Wagner do an ESPN radio show from the bathroom? …
Roger Clemens is back in the news … for allegedly having a 10-year affair with country singer Mindy McCready. Did Clemens mess with the wrong trainer or what? You know that McNamee probably has more ace cards like this up his sleeve. (NYDN)

To the financial superstars in the house - “The U.S., by contrast, remains the beneficiary of the world’s generosity — no matter how bad our financial situation looks, countries like China and Japan keep pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into U.S. securities.” Well the obvious question is - what happens when they decide to stop? As we’ve written before, financial blogs have speculated that this may stop after the World’s Fair in 2010. (New Yorker)

Please ignore the AJC column on Matt Ryan, non-Atlantans (but if you must, read the first 10 or so comments…i.e. “Terrance, you suck! You racist pig!”) Terrance Moore is our local race-bait writer who tries to make everything a black/white issue. He’s also blatantly racist against whites. That’s why he said “If Michael Vick wasn’t officially gone before as the face of the Falcons, he is now.”
Uh, Falcon fans (and the organization itself) have been trying to get rid of Vick for almost a year now. Terrance just can’t get enough of Vick, and is probably horrified that the Falcons brought in this honkey from the Northeast to keep the brotha down.
I’m not crazy about the pick either, but I choose to wait to make my judgment.

Hey ATL, I was so wanting to hear your thoughts on Ryan and all that. I feel bad for the kid as it seems like he already has so many people against him.
April 28th, 2008 at 8:25 am
i don’t know about anyone else, but pamela still holds a special place in my heart no matter what happens or anyone says
April 28th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Recc - Why?
April 28th, 2008 at 8:39 am
@Recc, my friends and why were discussing if anyone could remember their first ugh… erection. and no one could but the majority of the people agreed it probably had something to do with Pamela Anderson.
April 28th, 2008 at 8:40 am
great story on the Caron Butler club incident
April 28th, 2008 at 8:41 am
@Guinness - I wrote about my reaction on my blog
http://atlantasportsfan.wordpress.com/2008/04/28/my-thoughts-on-a-new-beginning/
Yeah, I just advertised my own blog. But you asked…kinda.
And on Pamela Anderson, I’m glad someone stepped up and said it. I was afraid I’d be in the minority - I might have to wrap it with 14 condoms, but I’d love half an hour with her…29 minutes to apply the condoms and…well, you get the joke

Wow — that’s some crazy Roger Clemens news. Are we gonna find out he yells at small children and kicks dogs too?
April 28th, 2008 at 8:45 am
China & Japan aren’t the problems. The problems start if the Middle East no longer accept dollars for oil. Right now, the dollar is the world currency to buy/sell oil.
I encourage everyone to go to the Delonte West post from yesterday and watch the video Bottomless Chips posted.

huh?

OK ay I admit to moving all weekend so I missed the draft in its entirety. I logged on to turn in some homework Sunday night and to my shock the Lions even fucked up a draft where they only had to take lineman and defense. How do you fuck that up? They took a huge reach for a kid from BC? I realize he is an offensive lineman, which is good, but who the hell is that kid? Wasn’t he a projected second or third rounder? I seriously hate the Detroit Matt Millens.
April 28th, 2008 at 8:57 am
@TBL- There were updates on DeShawn vs. LeBron/Jay-Z over the weekend.
thats what you had as the headline. Do you read your own links TBL?
April 28th, 2008 at 8:57 am
Atl, I dislike TM when he does Rome, he seems exactly as you describe him. Nice win for the Hawks, hopefully they can get one more.
I love the comments on the article though, I’ve been noticing lately that comment boards on local newspapers are really bad. I stay away from them, but sometimes you can’t help but look. Everyone is angry and they generally make personal insults to writers and other commenters. Maybe Bob Costas was on to something.

i’m just surprised out of all the things in the roundup, you’re really into Caron Butler walking out of a club
he did have a sick move Sunday
ballin is pushed back a bit because of NFL draft videos that will hopefully make you laugh
April 28th, 2008 at 9:01 am
????????????
April 28th, 2008 at 9:02 am
Mindy McCready is nasty as fuck, also.
There’s another country singer with MM initials who I remember as being uber-hot. I thought that was the one Clemens got with. I was sadly mistaken.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:04 am
@TBL- its the whole Lebron vs DeShawn that got my attention. Loved it when he knocked LEbron on his head yesterday. Its about time someone stepped up and talked some shit to Lebron. Too bad its a horrible player like DeShawn Stevenson but hey its entertaining
Ballin being pushed back is nothing new with you
April 28th, 2008 at 9:04 am
Coop - I’m with ya…it’s so disappointing that Terrance Moore is the one that makes it on the national outlets (like on Rome, and he was on Sportscenter when the Vick case was going on), just because he’s controversial (i.e. stupid). He’s the guy (every city has one) that writes something just to stir up the controversy and get readers. Oh, and he’s black, and considering that non-Atlantans think the city is 96% black, they assume that he’s more “representative” of our city. He’s not.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:04 am
@TBL, for reasons benji pretty much stated. when you’re a young male and see pam that was it, she had the tits and was that first california blonde who has that look….and david hasselhoff was the man
April 28th, 2008 at 9:05 am
Oh, and Coop - you’re right on the comment boards on newspaper sites. They’re absolutely hilarious.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:06 am
For me, that girl was Jenny McCarthy.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:06 am
@Recc, you got all the reasons right. its just a little unfortunate she is canadian. on a side note, i read this weekend that in Canada, you can take a $20 bill, rip it in half and use it as $10. I was in Canada once for 2 weeks, and I don’t remember this. Can anyone verify this?
April 28th, 2008 at 9:08 am
yea, McCarthy was where it was at back in the day when i was first gettin the down-there hair.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:09 am
Jenny McCarthy seemed more attainable because she was so damn goofy. Like “Hey, I’m funny, maybe Jenny would like me.” Then I’d rub one out and cry myself to sleep.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:09 am
As for Matt Ryan - What are the radio yahoos saying down there? Is this pick getting trashed?
I guess i’d say that we know defense wins championships, so why not grab Dorsey? He’s supposedly a foundation piece. Build around him. Then again, what do I know, I’m just a lowly blogger.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:11 am
Nick - I’m with you on Jenny McCarthy. I used to watch that dating show on MTV where she was the eye candy simply because she was on it.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:13 am
i think it’s a bad sign for ravens fans when jaws made it a clear point to show flacco had trouble with the vaunted Villanova defense’s zone blitz. good sign.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:13 am
jenny McCarthy was hot as well. that dating show was sweet because you could usually get to watch Jenny and a bunch of other hot girls too. That was back in the day when everything on MTV would get the blood flowing.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:14 am
TBL - the radio guys are split. Some thought Ryan was the only pick you could make, and others thought they should build from the lines first. I just wonder how much of this pick was “let’s pick a squeaky clean QB to try to put this Vick stuff behind us once and for all.” I really hope that isn’t the case. Dimitroff’s (the new GM) biggest strength supposedly is college scouting, so I will trust his judgment for now. Ryan seems like a good dude…I’ll give him a chance.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:15 am
singled out…awesome show, this is how i learned that college was a good thing and i should try to go there one day
April 28th, 2008 at 9:17 am
Remember when Eric Matthews was on that show in an episode of Boy Meets World? Good times, good times.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:19 am
yes, the show was on a tour and it came to philadelphia where the matthews family lived and him and the girl both lied about being in college when they were really in high school
April 28th, 2008 at 9:20 am
Yeah, I think he said he was a student at Harvard, even though the show was in Philly.
He said he was at a Harvard branch campus.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:27 am
Wait, there was a boy meets world episode with MTV’s Singled Out? That is genious. ohhh, Topenga.

MTV used to be a complete boner fest with Spring Break and the Summer Beach House stuff. The VJs were smoking, Singled Out, etc. etc. I used to be a consistently on edge, hormone-infused boner wielder thanks to that network.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:43 am
lots of boner talk this morning…
I’m going to pass.
April 28th, 2008 at 9:43 am
ATL, that is what I thought..trying to get rid of the whole Vick era..DeAngelo Hall gone, Alge Crumpler gone, even Warrick Dunn(though not so much). Though we are in the same division, I hope the kid works out(for his sake)..
April 28th, 2008 at 9:55 am
recc - I think the girl in that episode of Singled Out was wearing some Bad Idea jeans.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:53 am
No mention of the White House Correspondents dinner. I heard Jenny McCarthy looked a little bit money. And some slut with a hockey blog was there too. Along with the scarecrow and his inflateable girlfriend who can’t rap.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:54 am
My bad. Missed the 2nd sentence.
April 28th, 2008 at 11:29 am
that Dirtbags piece was pretty great
/shameless self promotion
April 28th, 2008 at 1:49 pm
The Minka Kelly pic is ridiculous.
WOW
April 28th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
speaking of Mtv, does everyone remember rock and jock? I attempted the Kenny Lofton behind the back baseball catch this weekend when he made a fool of someone. Missed it though, it was warm-ups.
