You love her on Entourage, but nobody will love her in that new Adam Sandler movie – wow, it looks terrible. Has he made a watchable movie since Billy Madison? … the 90210 spinoff got Lori Loughlin, but will not get Hilary Duff … tales from a bar … Angie Everhart and Carmelo Anthony have something in common … for the political wonks Obama’s pastor sure isn’t helping … a poll on announcer Michael Kay …
Deitsch outdid himself with this one: No celebs in the MNF booth, plus references to Artie Lange and Aimee Mann. (SI)
Next Town Brown will coach the Bobcats, which worries us greatly, since we selected them a few weeks back as our team to watch next season. (AP)
Mindy McCready doesn’t refute anything in the “story” but the paper now says she only became intimate with Rocket when she turned 18. (NYDN)
Wally Matthews: The Clemens “romance” is one big non-story. (Newsday via Can’t Stop the Bleeding)
Those people that attend to the NFL draft? Losers. (Joe Sports Fan)
Michael Chang, Ivan Lendl and Tony Romo all are trying out for the US Open. (Golf.com via Fark)
Barry Zito has been shunned to the bullpen; is his locker – near Barry Bonds’ old one – to blame? (SF Gate)
Hazing happens – on the team bus. (Sports Point)

what you didnt like Spanglish TBL?
April 29th, 2008 at 8:06 am
about as much as 50 First Dates
April 29th, 2008 at 8:11 am
or punch drunk love?
April 29th, 2008 at 8:15 am
I walked out of 50 First Dates it was so awful. And Sport Juana is the worst writing this site has ever linked to. That dude writes like an 8-year.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Ah, the Flora-Bama. Good times. Never been to the Mullet Toss, but I imagine it’s fantastic.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:26 am
big daddy was tolerable. that post-9/11 one with don cheadle SUCKED. 50 first dates is horrendous. so yea, sandler is struggling.
can’t wait for the ballin’ recap. joe johnson was a freaking M-A-N last night.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:26 am
Roger Clemens: Steriod abuser, Statuatory rapist or both?
April 29th, 2008 at 8:27 am
TBL, are you forgetting about Little Nicky?
April 29th, 2008 at 8:30 am
When are sandler and ferrell going to hook up for the worst comedy ever?
April 29th, 2008 at 8:31 am
I’m going to post this now because I’ll probably be in a meeting during Ballin’.
I didn’t think it was possible for somebody as dark as Kevin Garnett to turn invisible during crucial parts of the game last night.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:32 am
benji: don’t act like they’re mutually exclusive. You’re so judgmental.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:34 am
comedic gold
April 29th, 2008 at 8:37 am
ST. Bear, racist.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:37 am
i didn’t think garnett was especially horrible. they just couldn’t contain joe johnson. and atlanta is just crushing the boards. they find a way to get to so many rebounds, it’s amazing.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:38 am
Considering that Happy Gilmore was about 15x’s better than Billy Madison, I’d say yeah he has. As for since Happy though…
@Rumel: From a comedy standpoint, Sandler is struggling. From a Box Office standpoint though… I just did a rough estimate of his box office pull for his “typical” comedy (just using the millions digits), including the really low numbers from Happy and Madison, and he has averaged $108.5 mil over the course of his career. He’s just about the surest thing this side of Will Smith.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:41 am
@Brave: That’s because retards have a slow learning curve and can’t stay away.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:41 am
Sandler is pulling a Tom Hanks. Hanks used to be in goofy comedies that were really funny (Bachelor Party comes to mind) and then decided he had to be a serious actor. It happens to the best of them. They always start to take themselves too seriously. I don’t understand.
And I’ll save most of my comments for Ballin’, but I thought Garnett was just about their only option down the stretch on offense. On defense, however, he let anyone come in the middle and score, which is what he’s been doing the whole series.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:42 am
but he was the DPOY!
April 29th, 2008 at 8:44 am
I dont know, man … Smith blocked his shot and then KG came down and scored … Allen missed an open jumper, Pierce blew the layup, the Eddie House shot was unconscionable, Posey hit one … but then again, you may have a point, because on the defensive end, he should have been in the lane to keep Johnson out of it
April 29th, 2008 at 8:44 am
@brave
i think that’s just a testament to america’s choice of entertainment. sandler is a box office draw just like american idol and dancing with the stars are the biggest shows on television. and it’s why that shitty tina fey movie was number 1 at the box office this weekend.
will smith is becoming quite pathetic. i am legend was fucking awful, and now this superhero movie this summer looks abysmal.
anyone see the trailer for “the happening”? that may need it’s own post. looks tight as hell.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:45 am
Ballin – 915
oh, Sandler is cleaning up, no doubt … but the last non-SNL laughs i had at the guy were in Billy Madison. I dont know if i’ve seen all of Happy Gilmore.
I really liked Sandler on SNL. Almost all of his stuff was fantastic. Schmitt’s Gay, the prank phone calls … but the movies have been horrendous
April 29th, 2008 at 8:47 am
What about Rondo? He obviously was feeling it early in the game. Then Rivers took him out from the end of the 3rd into the 4th, the Hawks came back, and then yanked him again at the very end. I’m not talking about any one possession, but in general shouldn’t you ride the hot hand, especially if the other 3 are going to get so much attention.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:48 am
Is Mike NYC allowed 1 goodbye post today, or the ban go into effect immediately?
April 29th, 2008 at 8:48 am
Rumeal, the Tiney Fey movie was #1 because it’s still the slow season for Hollywood and there’s nothing else out. Iron Man will knock it out, and then the bigger movies come out at the end of May (Indiana Jones, Narnia, Sex and the City, etc.)
April 29th, 2008 at 8:49 am
Sorry, forgot “does”
April 29th, 2008 at 8:49 am
Adam Sandler was good in Anger Management. Heather Graham looked banging in that movie too.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:50 am
i didnt see it mentioned but i might be wrong…wasn’t happy gilmore made after billy madison? i thought that was quite watchable.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:50 am
50 First Dates and Mr. Deeds are both good. You can guys can go to hell.
Haven’t seen the one with Kevin James (looks really awful), but last year at NBA All-Star weekend, we talked to him and Sandler playing blackjack at the Playboy Club.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:52 am
Mike NYC did have one last hurrah.
This is inexcusable.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:52 am
@St. Bear: I don’t think Sex and the City topping the box office is necessarily better than Baby Momma doing it.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:53 am
TBL, “just wait til you check out the pool.”
I enjoyed the movie Bulletproof although i wouldn’t call it good. it was entertaining. i think that most of these superstar actors seem to be in it just for the paycheck. unlike will ferrell, at least Sandler doesn’t knock out these cookie cutter sports movies every year or 18 months. it seems like sandler makes a small attempt at changing genres.
BTW, the Wedding Singer was sweet.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:53 am
Nick…Joe Johnson looked pretty good last night. i know he’s your boy and everything.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:54 am
Dammit Spence, you should read every single one of my comments. They’re always gold.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:54 am
ummmm, did everyone forget “The Longest Yard” ?
April 29th, 2008 at 8:54 am
i forgot about the wedding singer, that was a pretty good movie. a little chick flicky and dru berrymore is stright up disgusting but still funny.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:55 am
@BraveSrRob: I’m not arguing the merits of the movie because there are none. I’m just saying it’s going to rake in the coin. The show was huge. When the trailer starts in the theaters, you can hear the women start to murmur. My wife and her mother are already planning their day around going.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:55 am
I grew up in the 80s so I find “The Wedding Singer” hilarious every time it’s on.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:55 am
BraveSrRob…i totally missed that. im not totally awake yet.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:56 am
@Nick – the one with Kevin James was awful. My wife and I rented it, her thinking it would be a sappy romantic comedy, and me thinking “Hey, Kevin James and Adam Sandler are in it, and that scene with Jessica Biel in the bra and panties is worth it by itself.”
It wasn’t.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:56 am
@spence: I didn’t say he wasn’t good. I said you couldn’t win a playoff series if he’s your best player.
I still don’t think you can, but I hope he proves me wrong. Fuck Boston.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:57 am
@clown or whoever:
i wasn’t reading last night, but did Irish throw out a victory speech? Something along the lines of “nobody fuck with the irishmafia” seems fitting to me.
April 29th, 2008 at 8:59 am
Props for Emanuelle Chriqui — she is divine.
April 29th, 2008 at 9:02 am
Nick P…he’s gonna do it. well, he can do it if KG gets suspended.
April 29th, 2008 at 9:02 am
I’ve missed my Roger Clemens work out video montage in the morning. Starting today I’m going to get back in shape again.
April 29th, 2008 at 9:06 am
Wallace Matthews is the biggest hack of all the hacks in NY. He writes inflammatory columns along the lines of Jose Reyes equaling Rey Ordonez, which pisses me off but overall is just tripe. But to say that Roger Clemens having sex with a minor is no big deal because 15 is the new 30 and Miley Cyrus took a picture that really wasn’t that bad is the biggest disgrace I have ever seen. I hope that hack loses his job. He doesn’t deserve the space and he ruins what is the best sprots section in the Tri-state area. Wally Matthews I hope you crawl in the dark recesses of hell and I hope your little girl has sex at 15 with an athlete because since its not a big deal you won’t care you piece of shit useless asshole.
April 29th, 2008 at 9:13 am
If 15 is the new 30, does that mean I have to start ogling 8 year olds?
April 29th, 2008 at 9:48 am
I don’t think it’s that the Roger Clemens story isn’t ridiculous because it’s statutory rape. It’s that the so-called victim is using statutory rape to promote her own career. The woman has a reality show and other stuff coming out, as TBL pointed out again.
And the media fell for it again: hook, line, and sinker.
April 29th, 2008 at 9:51 am
Not a comedy, but Reign Over Me with Don Cheadles was a good movie. I think Sandler does better when he’s not being his old goofy self. That act is tired and irritating, though he sometimes still tries to shoehorn it into other roles.
I’d liken his career path more to Jim Carrey than to Tom Hanks, but then I hope that Tom Hanks gets in a fiery car crash and crawls to safety only to be eaten alive by hyenas with blunt teeth.
April 29th, 2008 at 9:55 am
TBL – loves Fast and the Furious, never seen Happy Gilmore. Sounds about right.
April 29th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Personally, I liked Mr. Deeds. And hey, relative to all the other SNL cast members from that era (except for probably Chris Rock) he’s doing quite well.
April 29th, 2008 at 10:41 am
That is genius. Hahahaha.
Wedding Singer, Billy Madison, and Happy Gilmore are great. Mr. Deeds was average, Anger Management a step down, and everything else shit.
April 29th, 2008 at 10:52 am
I had no idea who that was in the pic this morning. So thanks TBL, I have pretty much pissed away my whole morning googling images of my new favorite Emanuelle Chriqui. Damn.
April 29th, 2008 at 11:17 am
EC is normally money, but that pic is not so nice. TBL likes her cuz she was on the OC for 2 episodes.
April 29th, 2008 at 11:25 am
My favorite episode of Entourage is easily the threesome episode. With Drama in the furry costume a close second.
April 29th, 2008 at 11:26 am
“I didn’t think it was possible for somebody as dark as Kevin Garnett to turn invisible during crucial parts of the game last night.”
Gold, absolutely.
Mr. Deeds was awful, and Click was worse, 50 First Dates was boring, Nicky was weak, Anger Management was a paycheck movie for Jack and Adam. Yep, Happy Gilmore will remain his best work.
April 29th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
I’m late to the party here, but the man made both Billy Madison AND Happy Gilmore. That’s enough for a lifetime free pass with me.
Oh, and the Wedding Singer was pretty damn funny, too.
Seriously, TBL, how have you not seen HappY Gilmore all the way through!?!? A top 5 funniest movie ever. Easily.
April 29th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Anyone else think the money Clemons paid to help Mcready’s legal bills was actually hush money.
