Thursdays Are For Bowling
Bowling May 1st. 2008, 1:55pmThursday is my bowling night so I thought it would be as good a day as any to get you caught up with all the bowling news from around the world. Enjoy!
Charlotte, North Carolina – Around 10pm last night, a car became wedged between a bowling alley and a light pole. Now, I’m not going to say that alcohol was involved, but… there is no doubt in my mind that alcohol was definitely involved. (Notice at the end of the video the guy with the hardhat looking up at the sky as if he’s looking for where the car came from. Got to love the South.)
*A 2.3 million pound (Stronger British version of the American $) seafront bowling alley will open this autumn after 2 years of broken promises. The seafront “house” was supposed to open back in 2006, but didn’t because it wasn’t anywhere near completion.
When it finally opens, the centre will have a 20-lane pin bowling area, a bar, small cafe and children’s play area.
You know, that’s almost enough to make me visit Europe again. Almost.
*A Queens bowling alley closed its doors after 48 years last Thursday. Most surprised by the closing? The bowlers who showed up for their Thursday night leagues. AMF Bowling Centers, who owned the house sold the lease to a clothing store.
*Marilyn Manson has a blog. And he’s going bowling. And he likes bad puns. Oh, no. He sounds just like me.
*Luckily, CP3 (4 MVP) makes it seem a little cooler to bowl. From USA Today:
Would you rather roll a 300 game or score 50 points in a regular-season NBA game?
That’s a tough one. I would probably rather bowl a 300 game. If I could score 50 points in a playoff game, that would be a different story.
*And what bowling post would be complete without a booze link?
A soon-to-be-former UConn student walks you through brewing your own dorm room beer. That combined with a make-shift alley in the common area sounds like a good time to me.

Now, I’m not going to say that road head was involved, but… there is no doubt in my mind that road head was definitely involved.

Has the whole world gone crazy!? Am I the only one here who gives a shit about the rules!? Mark it zero!

So does CRM have a clear bowling ball with a rose inside, ala Ernie McCracken?

It’s a league game, Smokey.
PS: Not sure if anyone has seen this before, but in Connecticut it’s apparently good times to smoke weed laced with PCP and god knows what else:

Better movie with bowling in it…Lebowski or Kingpin? I’m personally torn
May 1st, 2008 at 2:41 pm
lebowski, not even close
May 1st, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Mini ponies: you’re high if you’re torn about this. Lebowski is one of the best movies ever, let alone bowling movies. You’re on probation.

The Big Lead-owski
May 1st, 2008 at 2:56 pm
Big Leb is definitely one of my favorite all around movies, but I can’t go without watching Kingpin. I don’t even care if I’m in the minority on that one
