Ballin’: Celtics Advance, Lakers Kinda Cruise
NBA May 5th. 2008, 10:30am
Los Angeles Lakers 109, Utah 98: For a fleeting moment in the fourth quarter, the Jazz had the defcit down to four or five, but Boozer had fouled out, and inexplicably, Utah had Kyle Korver curl off a screen and take a 14-footer jumper that clanged. Not sure about that call; we’d rather go down with Deron Williams (5-for-18) chucking than Korver. Kobe had 38. An eternal Jazz optimist might say: We dominated the glass (58-41), we won’t shoot 4-for-19 from three next time, and the Lakers won’t get 46 free throw attempts again. Think Utah will need to win game two to take the series, though; do you see the Lakers losing four of five? Us neither. Question: Why do we have to wait until Wednesday for game two?
Boston 99, Atlanta 65: Not sure why anyone got remotely worked up for this one – the Hawks were tremendous all series long at home, and dreadful on the road (lost by 23, 19, 25 and 34). This may have the most the most anticlimatic game seven in recent memory, and was never remotely close. No need to get worked up over the Marvin Williams foul – it was nasty, cheap, and we’re surprised no Boston knuckle-dragging fans didn’t hurl a beer at him on his way out – but for Hawks fans, here’s something to ponder: next season is Mike Bibby’s final year under contract ($15 million). What’s the move there? He shot better from the field earlier in his career, but has faded in the last two seasons (including 7-for-28 on the road in this series). Is Acie Law ready to make the leap?

Kobe > Lebron
LEts get it on
Kobe MVP
May 5th, 2008 at 10:33 am
RD called me over the weekend and said “How could anyone watch LeBron in game 6 and not think he’s the best player in the game?”
I think you could have said the same thing about the last 4 Laker games.
How about this: They’re both great.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:33 am
I though the foul was overblown, it has a hard foul but I think he was trying to catch him on the way down, j-kidd’s foul on pargo was more malicious and dangerous
May 5th, 2008 at 10:33 am
Question: Why do we have to wait until Wednesday for game two?
you bring up how Kobe is getting the scheduling treatment, but not Lebron in the first round. Wow im not shocked by that bias
May 5th, 2008 at 10:33 am
Simmons won his prop bet on Lebron.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:34 am
Screw you, TBL, for starting the day with a dead horse story AND ballin before posting Top Shelf! 4OTs in the Sharks/Stars game, that’s way more exciting than any of the NBA games this weekend!
May 5th, 2008 at 10:35 am
Acie Law is not quite ready. The Hawks are still so far under the cap that $15 mill won’t hurt them (although Childress and Josh Smith are RFAs now). I say we keep Bibby another year, and give Acie Law some more playing time to develop. Woodson did a horrible job handling Law, which further shows his inability to relate with/manage the young guys (Salim Stoudamire, Josh Smith, etc.).
And it’s patently ridiculous for any Hawks fan to be down on the team after yesterday. The fact that they were playing in a Game 7 is crazy enough. I hope we get rid of GM Billy Knight and/or Mike Woodson. They’re both idiots, and the Hawks performed this well in the C’s series in spite of them.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:39 am
I don’t have a problem with the Marvin Williams foul. It was a hard foul and he got him on his way up. It was tremendously awkward. I don’t think there was any ill intent.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:39 am
Good series by the Hawks, but their youth showed in not being able to compete away from home. Should be an interesting team to keep an eye on though. I really liked what I saw from Josh Smith, if he can refine his offensive game and be more aggressive.
As for the Jazz/Lakers series, I would also be one to agree the Jazz aren’t going to shoot that poorly in future games. It should be a fun series. Both teams are great all around, play good team basketball, and move the ball very well.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:40 am
i thought it was suppose to rain in Auburn Hills on saturday? So much for your weather forecasting Irish. Seemed more like thunder(dunks)from Maxi and Theo.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:40 am
oh but Kevin Garnetts pick wasnt a foul? Bullshit
David Stern handed this series to them
May 5th, 2008 at 10:41 am
SPORTSGAL please dont disrespect the ballin post with “hockey talk”
May 5th, 2008 at 10:41 am
@sparty- Remember what you said about GAme 2
May 5th, 2008 at 10:42 am
i am still trying to figure out how the NBA ever implemented this stupid playoff schedule and seeding. How can a 2nd round series begin before the 1st over? Why wouldn’t Detroit play Atlanta had they won? Thats so freakin dumb.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:43 am
Irish, I remember, this is the game.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:43 am
TBL, i heard that Game 2 is only on Wednesday because the Jazz had to play Game 1, 36 hours after game 6 against Houston (ABC/ESPN wants 2 games on Sunday so it had to be) which gave a clear edge to the Lakers. This way they give a little rest to the Jazz for game 2. Don’t know if it’s true, but that’s what i heard after the schedule for the first 4 games was released.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:44 am
Kobe makes the game look easy.
Hawks are gonna be good if they keep this team together.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:44 am
The thing with Josh Smith is that Hawks fans who watch him 82 games a year almost hate him. He’s so maddeningly frustrating. You see what potential he has, and you get excited. But then you see him consistently settling for 15-foot jump shots (which he’s pretty horrible at) and you get pissed off. Wait, am I Hubie Brown?
Of course, this could all be Mike Woodson’s fault. He obviously cannot coach Smith, as they’ve had numerous on-camera arguments during timeouts. So maybe if we had a coach who could actually work with young players, Smith could begin to develop a little more. As it stands now, he’s not that much better than he was three years ago.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:46 am
@sparty- i forgot how good Detroits D is. I have to admit, i am a big Rasheed Wallace fan so this series is hard. Fucking Philly is who i blame. Philly could of knocked them out and Orlando would be sitting pretty right now. But no, had to go and wake up the Pistons.
D Howard better show up tonight. How many Pistons were thrown at him in Game 1? 4 or 5 I wouldnt be surprised if Wallace knocks Howards hand a couple of times to hurt him
May 5th, 2008 at 10:47 am
There’s no room in here for you and your rational analysis!
May 5th, 2008 at 10:47 am
This is a topic that could dog the Hawks all season long. Esp if Bibby plays well. He’s going to want good money, but i’m not sure if he’s worth it. That team has several scoring options – they’ll be fine with a defensive-minded PG who can occasionally hit a 3 and distribute well
May 5th, 2008 at 10:47 am
… the Lakers won’t get 46 free throw attempts again.
I’ll take that bet, TBL.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:48 am
Irish, it still comes down to the guards. Long athletic guards give Chauncey and Rip fits. Orlando doesn’t have that.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:49 am
I’d also be suprised if the Lakers were outrebounded by 17 again. That’s pretty substantial.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:49 am
anyone see the stat the Phil Jackson is 39-0 when his teams win game 1. unbelievable.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:50 am
If I’m in the desert dying of thirst, I’ll take a gallon of water (Lebron) or a thimble-full (Kobe), but I’d prefer the gallon. They’re still both great, though.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:50 am
And allowing 25 offensive rebounds…
May 5th, 2008 at 10:51 am
@sparty- i hope Orlando leaves Mo evans in Detroit if they lose tonight. Fucking bum. If Hamilton comes out on fire again, it will be tough. Chauncey really didnt have to do much in the first game, so he will be fresh tonight. did you see that dunk Dooling attempted in the first half? if that would of went in it would of been sick
i did tell you JJ Redick would play though huh
May 5th, 2008 at 10:52 am
@nick p- did that Lebron story on sportscenter make you cry this morning?
May 5th, 2008 at 10:55 am
@atl why doesn’t Stoudamire play the dude is an pretty good shooter?
May 5th, 2008 at 10:56 am
a.) don’t you think lebron could score a better looking chick than “savannah”? she looked pretty haggard.
b.) i have seen very few hawks games, for obvious reasons, but acie law did not impress me one bit. i don’t think he’s an NBA point guard. their offense seemed to get bogged down a lot when he entered the game. not that bibby did much more, but still…
c.) it was good to see salim stoudamire again yesterday. i miss that guy. how is that guy any worse than jason kapono or jj redick? yet no one even knows he’s alive.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:56 am
I don’t think the Magic are done by any means, sometimes you have blowout games like that. I did think Irish’s Man Crush would have done a little better.
While the Hawks weren’t winning that game, it sure seemed like that “great defense” Boston was playing was actually lots of fouls not being called. If you can’t stop Josh Smith, good luck with Bron.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:56 am
That Atlanta got their series with Boston to a Game 7 is a victory unto itself. Had they won yesterday, they might have fallen into a false sense of where they’re at.
I don’t think Law is ready just yet, but Bibby is not the PG answer for them. Had Philly not come alive, I’d have said they ought to look at trading for Andre Miller, but that’s not an option now.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Vanessa Lane Bryant >>>>> Savannah Brinson
May 5th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Jason Kopono is the best shooter in the Association. Salim Stoudemire is meh. There’s your difference.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:59 am
it’s too bad phoenix gets the hawks pick this year because this would be a good time to invest in a true PG. give him a year of seasoning behind bibby and they’d be good to go. someone like augustin or westbrook would look good on that team. acie law is not the answer.
May 5th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Colorado hotel workers >>>> …I just can’t
May 5th, 2008 at 10:59 am
@coop- he busted his thumb. I didnt think the machine could get hurt, but he did. that was the key turning point in the game imo
May 5th, 2008 at 11:00 am
I still laugh at the Kobe > LeBron stuff … LeBron overtook him last year in the playoffs and has never looked back.
At any rate, i guess the 2 days of rest is fair for Utah, but you could argue the Lakers were ‘rusty’, too …
May 5th, 2008 at 11:01 am
its always last year with people and there excuses. Last year LEbron was better blah blah blah. Do we live in the past or the present?
May 5th, 2008 at 11:03 am
best nba players
1. lebron
2. kobe
210. salim stoudamire
211. jason kapono
359. chris quinn
360. louis amundson
May 5th, 2008 at 11:03 am
There’s no room in here for you and your rational analysis!
Clown, you slay me +17
Your picture still scares the hell out of me
May 5th, 2008 at 11:03 am
@TBL: For once I have to disagree. He overtook Kobe in 05-06.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:03 am
That’s what I referred to when I was talking about Woodson. Stoudamire has been in his doghouse for years now. No one really knows why, but it’s obvious when you see Salim blatantly pouting on the bench the entire series. I’m not sure what started it either–no one really knows. But he’ll never see the court as long as Woodson is there (which hopefully isn’t too much longer).
That’s the problem, though, that people who haven’t seen the Hawks all year don’t understand (and I don’t blame you–they didn’t have one game on national TV all season). Law could be exactly what the Hawks need. But Woodson has insisted on playing Bibby 40-45 minutes + every night instead of giving Law some experience. Believe me, we were all surprised that Law saw as much action in the Celtics series as he did. He wasn’t getting that much playing time in the regular season.
Even before we got Bibby, Woodson stupidly played Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue/Dawn Staley instead of Law. He’s just completely inept.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:05 am
Irish,
now you see why the Pistons didn’t have a problem parting ways with Evans.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:09 am
pistons backups in 05-06:
pg carlos arroyo, sg carlos delfino, sf mo evans, pf mcdyess, c fucking darko
pistons backups in 07-08:
pg afflalo, sg stuckey, sf jarvis hayes, pf maxiell, c amir johnson
the pistons are so much better than two years ago, it’s not even funny. and they didn’t do it with buyouts and ripping off former teammates like the celtics. god i hate them.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:11 am
@sparty- Joe D is a smart man. Smart player and a very smart GM.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:11 am
great point irish…now tell that to the pistons fans who keep bringing up their win over the lakers.
and please, the magic aren’t done by a longshot. even if detroit wins the next game, chances are pretty solid theyll start to coast.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:12 am
Afflalo & Jarvis blow, but otherwise I agree. They did buyout Flip Murray, IIRC.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:13 am
their bench might be slightly better, but their starters are WAY worse than they were 2 years ago.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:15 am
In other news, the Pens buried the Rangers yesterday afternoon.
Bring on Gonzo’s boys!
May 5th, 2008 at 11:15 am
Antonio McDyeses starts for the pistons
May 5th, 2008 at 11:15 am
Would have been nice for Kobe if he had the injured Nets and the awful Wizards in the playoffs over the last few years. Imagine the playoff performances he would have had.. now he’s going against 50-win teams and looking dominant.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:18 am
a.) i meant that they didn’t ADD any buyout guys like sam cassell, pj brown, or steve francis (worthless).
b.) mcdyess was a backup in 06, playing behind sheed and ben wallace.
c.) their starters aren’t WAY worse. that’s a pretty harsh statement. it’s not like they’re that old, and it’s not like they fell off a cliff like marbury or abdur-rahim.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Not only is Kobe about to win the MVP, he had people chanting “M-V-P” for 2 games…………….in Colorado!
May 5th, 2008 at 11:20 am
a) this is a dumb way to write
b) actually really dumb
May 5th, 2008 at 11:20 am
jb49ers
actually Maxiell is starting for the Pistons now.
Nick P:
Afflalo is a defensive beast, nobody intimdates him. Reminds me of Joe D when he first got there. didn’t shoot, but played shut down defense. He is not bad offensively, almost too unselfish.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:20 am
was this in chicago?
you honestly think sheed, rip and chauncey are anywhere near what they were 2 years ago?
May 5th, 2008 at 11:21 am
@spencer- i hope so. I dont know if it was the rest that they had and Detroit was still on a roll from Philly. I hope its not over
May 5th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Maxiell started because Dice broke his nose.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:24 am
I agree
/Darko
May 5th, 2008 at 11:24 am
spencer: i think the Pistons starters are better off now. They played almost 10 less games this year based on their minutes, and have got a lot of rest in the playoff games as well. Rip, Chauncey and Sheed are much better off than they were the last couple years.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:24 am
irish, your constant attacks on me are humorous. keep it up.
this is like an around the horn discussion gone to shit. when did rasheed wallace and antonio mcdyess play for chicago?
May 5th, 2008 at 11:25 am
I thought Rasheed played in Atl before Detroit?
May 5th, 2008 at 11:26 am
jb49ers:
and he is going to continue to start. gives them extra energy at the start.
Clown:
Joe D has actually not been the greatest in the 1st round of the draft. Darko, Rodney White, Mateen Cleaves, Delfino.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:29 am
I really wish the magic could of just got the 4 seed and played the celtics instead of the damn pistons. It just seems like they are scared of the pistons. Its like a big brother just playing around with his little brother, letting him hang around for a bit and then destroying his hopes.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:32 am
Sparty…i have a huge anti-pistons bias so take it for what it’s worth…but we might see next round after LBJ knocks off the celts in 6. if the Pistons don’t turn into a bunch of jump shooting, no D playing assholes like they do every spring.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:34 am
Interesting discussion between Greg Anthony (noted Lebron apologist) and Cowherd just now on the radio. Anthony said Kobe is the best player in the game and that the Lakers are the best passing team he’s seen in 15 years. He also predicts that they’ll be makng title runs for the next 5 years and that Phoenix and Dallas won’t make the playoffs next year.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:34 am
mike hart is a commenter here???
the pistons don’t have anyone that can go to the rim, and rasheed has always played away from the basket. nothing will change this spring. regardless, i’d rather get swept by lebron and savannah than lose to the celtics.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:36 am
anthony also said yesterday that chris paul is the best point guard he’s ever seen. that guy is making some bold statements. perhaps the boldest i’ve ever seen in my entire life.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:36 am
i laughed audibly at that choice nugget.
is there anyone outside of boston who likes the celts?
May 5th, 2008 at 11:38 am
@spence: Hope you’re right. I don’t see us beating the C’s twice in a row, so I think game 1 is extremely important.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Rumeal – on what channel and what time did Anthony say this? That’s pure lunacy. I need to watch the video, i simply don’t believe it.
Maybe he said sub-6-foot point guard? I will say this – Paul had a sick dribble between his legs against the Spurs in the lane en route to a layup. the guy is filthy.
Best PG ever? Magic. That seems unlikely to ever change
May 5th, 2008 at 11:38 am
@spencer- second time in my life i will be rooting for Lebron in this series against Boston
i want to see him hurt Kendrick Perkins and Kevin “all pussy of the year” GArnett
May 5th, 2008 at 11:38 am
I like KG so I guess I like the Celtics. If the Pistons don’t win it, I am all for the Celtics winning it all.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Magic has Aids. I dont want his name even brought up near me
/ Karl Malone
May 5th, 2008 at 11:39 am
I was kinda listening but I thought he said best pg he’s seen since Magic.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Wait a second–Steve Francis plays for the Celtics now? As a Rockets fan, I can only wish that was the case.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:40 am
I like KG and Jesus Shuttleswoth
May 5th, 2008 at 11:42 am
he said the best he’s ever seen. it was on sportscenter, i think the 6:00 pm one last night. it was one of those stupid segments off to the side. he said it’s because paul can get anywhere on the floor whenever he wants, and he’s never seen anyone able to do that.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:43 am
Ray Ray is pretty good.
if only asshole Paul Pierce wasn’t highly prominent and KG wasn’t such a massive pussy i could root for the Celts again. i actually actively rooted for them last year because Big Al Jeff is the man.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:44 am
All the network and advertising execs.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:45 am
the worst GM ever is the best PG ever.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:46 am
john paxson? oh wait…THAT worst GM ever.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:46 am
Isiah wasn’t the best PG ever.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:46 am
“is there anyone outside of boston who likes the celts?”
Probably not, but that’s why it’s fun being a fan. Ray Ray needs to step up, KG (who still deserved regular season MVP) needs to be assertive on offense, and PP’s gotta grow up, and fast. Def. nervous about the LeBrons coming in.
How ’bout the meeting of the minds between Doc and Mike Brown?
May 5th, 2008 at 11:47 am
Nick P:
technically one could say Magic was. but pure PG, yes Zeke was it.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:47 am
My buddy hates Paul Pierce everytime we watch a Celts game he calls him stab-wound
May 5th, 2008 at 11:48 am
Rondo acted like he got hit by three different cars. Wasn’t that awful.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:49 am
it’ll be like watching Reggie Miller and Emmitt Smith doing the Spelling Bee.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:49 am
what does mike brown even do…tell wally which corner to stand in for a trey? tell ben wallace who to pass to immediately after getting an offensive rebound? tell daniel gibson which lotion to use for lebron’s post-game handjob?
May 5th, 2008 at 11:49 am
Hernia: Rondo got straight tackled and didn’t miss a second of play. I don’t really think there was much acting going on there.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:49 am
shrimp boat captain.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:50 am
oh and Rumeal…the answer to your last question. Jergens.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Don’t forget retailers. Boston fanwagonneers start buying shit in droves when [insert New England-area team] starts winning.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:50 am
He was a little too dramatic laying on the court for my taste. Williams helped break the fall, he didn’t have to lay there forever.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Stockton was better than Isiah.
Payton and Kidd have a claim, too. Payton especially is severely underrated. People view him as the shell of his former self for Miami. He had an incredible peak.
Magic is better than all of ‘em, though.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:57 am
“Boston fanwagonneers start buying shit in droves when [insert New England-area team] starts winning.”
Happens in all cities. Look at the sudden excitement in Atlanta. That said, I was so pissed at every Patriot fan who bought “16-0″ and “Undefeated” shirts before the playoffs even happened. Argh….
May 5th, 2008 at 11:57 am
Stockton wasn’t better than Isiah.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:57 am
@Nick P
Could have sworn you would have said Ehlo.
Oh and your Stockton argument is dog shit.
Payton and Kidd is high comedy.
Magic was not a pure PG, he played it out of team need.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:58 am
along with is individual numbers, how many titles did Stockton lead the Jazz to?
May 5th, 2008 at 11:59 am
walfredo…no shit. i used to love going to cavs games, but now that LBJ is there, the tix are ridiculously expensive (i dont wanna buy shitty seats…personal thing, if im goin to a game, im gettin a nice view) and i have to cram my ass next to a bunch of idiots with their fucking kids meaning i feel like a dirtbag when i throw in a chew and i cant yell, “fuck you mike brown.”
May 5th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Back when I was sucking dick…
We all know that white people are the best “pure” point guards because they’re so unselfish and have a head for the game instead of being naturally gifted. They are untainted by the desire to impress others, satisfied in their own superiority.
I therefore nominate the following “pure” point guards:
John Stockton
Steve Nash
Deron Williams (you automatically turn white when you move to Utah or Minnesota–it’s in the state’s constitution).
May 5th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Pure PG are not he is still the best ever at the position
May 5th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Spence, do you remember college id night at the Gund? Where $15 got you the best unsold seat in the house? (Got second row action one night against the awful Warriors and a young Larry Hughes!)
May 5th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
If I can’t get this name thing figured out maybe before every post for the next month I will just put.
I give blumpkins to LeBron James
Very conflicted on Cavs/Celtics, I hate both of them, but I think I hate the Celtics more.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Magic out of position played the position better than anyone.
Isiah was a shoot first PG who couldn’t shoot. He was still great, not best ever.
Being really short doesn’t make you a pure PG.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
Also, James Edwards was way better than Karl Malone. It’s all about the rings, baby.
/sparty
May 5th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
cursed…hell yea, shit was great. i remember getting the Cavs dancer’s autographs on my ticket when there was shit else goin on and maybe 1,000 people in there.
i miss the D-miles era.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
Nick P:
Shoot first PG? What are you smoking? he is 6th all time in assists? and he scored 19 ppg.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
obviously clown missed out on the individual numbers part of my comment. Isiah put up huge numbers and won titles.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Remember when Penny Hardaway was considered the next Magic?
May 5th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
Isiah was much much better than Stockton. I can’t even believe this is up for discussion. Much like when I was watching the Roy Jones/Trinidad fight at a bar and had to listen to two people next to me have a discussion on who would win in their primes–Ali or Tyson. I swear I almost cracked them over the head with my chair. And by almost, I mean I just sent text messages to my friends telling them what dumbasses I was sitting next to.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
FGA per game: Isiah 16.2, Stockton 9.1, Magic 13.2
May 5th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
16.2 FGA would have placed him at 23rd in the NBA in shot attempts per game. That’s his career average. In his peak years, he was much more of a shot-taker (not necessarily a shot-maker, though).
Yeah I’d say shoot first is an apt description.

Chris Paul had 16.1 FGA per game this year and still i don’t believe anyone would say he’s a shoot first PG…Once again stats don’t tell any story at all…
May 5th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
But the discussion is, who was the better point?
May 5th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
oh, so just leave out the 6th all time in assists. he was the go to guy in crunch time on those Pistons teams. That increases his FGA. Daly wanted him shooting in the last couple minutes of games.

ali > tyson

Of course he had a ton of assists. He played a really long time. I’m not saying he was a bad PG, I’m saying he was a shoot first PG, and his shot attempts info tends to agree.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
jb…last time i checked, it wasn’t Ali’s Punch Out.
game, set, match.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Smush Parker is a “miss first” point guard.
By the way, this site is crashing on me way too frequently. What the hell is doing on TBL?
May 5th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
The difference between Stockton’s career assists and Isiah’s career assists is greater than the difference between Thomas’ career assists and Juwan Howard’s.
Stockton was a better point.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
I give blumpkins to LeBron James.
Yes, Cursed, finally someone else, I was bitching about it all day Friday and it’s no better today.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
isiah > john stockton
Isiah was a killer on the court. He is the greatest PG ever imo
May 5th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
cbh…i think that’s acceptable.
tho tell me, what does LeBron James’ poo smell like? is it more of a hazelnut scent or an old egg salad sandwich?
May 5th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Nothing on my Smush joke? nothing?
May 5th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
@spencer- how come cbh doesnt have his name changed? Mike NYC sure went out with the quickness with our bet
May 5th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
clown,
what other superstar did isiah have to pass the ball too?
May 5th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Steve Czaban just said “You don’t think drinking and boating is serious.. just ask Steve Olin and Tim Crews”
That my friends is why Steve Czaban > Tirico/Mike and Mike
May 5th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Spence you must didn’t have the code where you fought Ali after you beat Tyson.
/ obviously reaching at this point
May 5th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
I give blumpkins to LeBron James.
Irish, I did the name, got a password, I am a man of my word.
For some reason when I put the name in, it keeps saying wrong password.

Vinny “the Microwave” Johnson
May 5th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Back when I was sucking dick…
@cbh: I think the problem is that you’re retarded. I mean really, really retarded.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Microwave, Dumars, Laimbeer, Dantley. Not all superstars, but Isiah had some talented thugs to work with.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Hef…did you lose a bet?
cbh and irish…to be honest, i dont care about a name change. all i care about is that my team is moving on and that i won a ‘bet.’ the idea was funny and entertaining while it lasted so, it served it’s purpose.
May 5th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
@hef- what is the deal with the line back when..? did you lose a bet
May 5th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
Back when I was sucking dick…
I lost a bet to RomanWarHelmet. Conor Jackson and Chad Qualls can tongue my balls.
May 5th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
that is harsh Hef. I knew i liked Roman for a reason though, i should of done that to Mike NYC.
May 5th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Hef…would you go Qualls deep? oh, im in stitches.
May 5th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Back when I was sucking dick…
I’ve got a new bet with Gonzo over the Phillies series this week. It’s nowhere near as harsh of terms though. Can’t wait.
May 5th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
I’m just going to assume that you’re being sarcastic re: Ali<Tyson. If you were starting a team and needed a PG and Magic and Oscar Robertson had already been taken, you’re telling me that you’d take Stockton over Isiah? If so, I hope you would enjoy watching your team lose to my team.
May 5th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Yea cursed they are both great, Dwight Howard and Deron Williams are “great” too. Jordan was great. You can make a distinction though, and its fairly easy in this case.
May 5th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
@RD- who is winning tonight? Orlando or Detroit
May 5th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
Oscar Robertson might have something to say about that.
May 5th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I’ll take Detroit in a war down to the final minute.
Its really tough to predict Orlando games though with that 3 point shooting, I’d never bet their games. They cant let Detroit get them out of their game again and cant afford to get trigger shy
