Hannah Storm To Compete Against Skip Bayless, Will Win Handily
ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings May 10th. 2008, 6:30pm
Richard Deitsch informs us that long time NBC sports anchor Hannah Storm will host ESPN’s soon-to-be-produced morning edition of SportsCenter:
The formal announcement is expected to come Tuesday morning in New York City at ESPN’s upfront presentation — the annual May event in which giddy television executives unveil to advertisers its future programming plans. Two additional extended SportsCenters are expected to follow the Storm-fronted show. “We’re declining comment,” said ESPN spokesperson Mike Soltys on Saturday.
Interestingly, the revamped SportsCenters will compete against the ESPN2 morning block of Mike & Mike In the Morning and First Take. Storm is expected to start sometime in the next couple of months. Emails to Storm’s agent, Jim Griffin, were not immediately returned.
The career switch won’t affect family life at the Hicks-Storm household*. Husband Dan is still with NBC and since the family already lives in Connecticut, yeah, you know.
By the way, the Magic have an 11 point halftime lead on the Pistons as of this typing. See you tomorrow.
* unless Hannah succumbs to the charm and magic of the Swami. and really, who could blame her?

Good move by ESPN. FINALLY, something to keep me from watching that First Take crap.

Why did you have to mention ANY gal hooking up with the Swami? I just ate dinner!

As long as they get rid of that damn rundown crap. If I didn’t want to watch SportsCenter I;d just change the channel. It makes no difference to me what they’re talking about, especially since it runs pretty bunch all day.

Jonathan “The Coach” Coachmen is also going to be an anchor on ESPN. He’ll be gold on “This is Sportscenter” commercials if nothing else.

Does this mean a Good Morning America-ization of The Big Show?

I’ll start watching with Hannah. She is great to look at and very solid in front of the camera. Good move!

I bet First Take will go “bye bye” and that Cowturd’s show will be simulcast like M&M. That way, they “replace” First Take w/ hannah, and add Cowturd, which will cost next to nothing to produce…
