Playoff Ballin’: That Sucky LeBron
NBA May 11th. 2008, 11:50am
Cavs 108, Celtics 84
Insert “someone alert the Celtics they have to win on the road too” joke ____. His highness scored 21 on just 5/16 shooting. He also had 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. I’m sure some columnist, somewhere is writing about how LeBron isn’t clutch, which is sad. His teammates Delonte West and Wally Szczerbiak combined for 37 and the Cavs 54% from the field, including 10/19 from three land. On the other side of things, no Celtics player exceeded 20 points and Boston shot just 40% from the field (as if they’d be shooting from anywhere else). And LeBron kinda sorta looks like Jamal Mashburn in that photo over there.
Pistons 90, Magic 89
Orlando was up by 11 at halftime and promptly got outscored by 11 in the 3rd quarter. Tayshaun Prince tipped in the game winner – he finished with 17. Rip Hamilton was the star with 32 points and 6 rebounds. Antonio McDyess played the role of Ben Wallace circa 2004 with 14 boards and 8 points. Hedo Turkoglu led all Magic with 20 points. Orlando finds itself down 3-1 in the series as we head back to Detroit.

Mashburn only jumped that high when he used a trampoline. Other than that, sure I see the similarities…

show the rangers some love in yardwork. 5 wins in a row which is the most for an american league team this year. 5 series wins in a row. 9-2 in the last 11 games which is the best in the major leagues during that span.
of course i know that it won’t last and they will break my heart again but its been a fun couple of weeks.

The Q was surprisingly loud as fuck last night. I was expecting more of a subdued, typical Cleveland-like crowd.

Are you guys seeing this OJ Mayo mess? If all this is true, will USC be forced to forfeit their first round loss? Does it now become a win instead? How does this work?

A few interesting things about Mashburn. First, he’s been out of the league for 4 years already, second, his career shooting percentage was .41%. Yikes!

Nick, I was there and it really was pretty wild, definitely the loudest game I’ve been to. Great time, great game, bad traffic, Indians game let out at the same time.

I’m with you: If any columnist talks about Lebron not being clutch last night, they weren’t watching the game.
The play of the game: Lebron coming from out of nowhere to pin a Rajon Rondo fastbreak layup against the glass for so long, it nearly stuck there.
And then when Rondo had another breakaway chance a few minutes later, Lebron blocked him. Again. Even cranky, old-man Lebron from the Nike ads appreciated that one.

Really? Were they showing more pictures of the Steelers logo on the jumbotron than usual?

He made less than half of one percent of the shots he put up? That’s less than one out of every 200 shots he took. That is awful.

@battlin’: The normal amount. I’m not a Browns fan, so I don’t get into all that jive.
What was funny were the 3-4 videos the Q people made in re: how bandwagon-y the Boston fans are. That was great, although 70% of the Cleveland “fans” in the Q last night were probably right there with them.
