UFC 84: Ortiz’s Last Hurrah
MMA, UFC May 24th. 2008, 5:00pmTonight on pay per view, it’s UFC 84. At the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Tito Ortiz will make his final appearance with the UFC. The main event in belongs to lightweight champion B.J. Penn and the division’s former title holder, Sean Shirk, who was stripped of his belt last year after testing positive for steroids.
The showstopper might very well be Ortiz (16-5-1) against light-heavyweight Lyoto Machida (12-0). For Ortiz, it’ll be the end of an 11 year era, an era which he helped build UFC from the ground up alongside Dana White. Now the two can’t stand each other, in a relationship very similar to Hogan/McMahon in the WWE. It’s the chicken and the egg question, and the egg will always prevail.Â
Just throw some gas on the Dana fire, Ortiz sported a “Dana Is My Bitch” t-shirt at yesterday’s press conference/weigh-in. Safe to say Tito still knows how to sell himself, his bidness and his hatred for the president of the promotion. Video after the jump.
See you tomorrow, friends.

Great card.. unfortunately I don’t get off work until midnight, so I’ll be catching the re-run at 1:00 am, meaning I will be avoiding TBL tonight.
What’s next for BJ with a victory? I don’t think Huerta is much of a match for him.. who would he want to fight? He can’t exactly gain 30 pounds and fight Anderson… well actually, he can gain 30 pounds.. but you know what I mean.

And I’ve always hated Ortiz, but love his ring entrance. He’s always spiked buy rates with his appearances, so I’ll be interesting to see how this one measures of afterwards.

Ortiz is the type of guy who seems like you’d hate him if you knew him in every day life – but as a performer, he’s good for the industry.

Actually, its spelled Sherk. And assuming B.J. beats him, (thats what she said) he’ll face the winner of Huerta-Florian next.
As for Tito….classy until the end. I hope Machida destroys him.
