Photo Madness: Greg Oden at Indy with a Midget?
NBA May 26th. 2008, 8:46pm
Was Greg Oden hanging out with a motley crew in Indianapolis this weekend? A reader snapped this photo at the Indy 500 Sunday, and if it is Oden, it further proves why he’ll be one of the athletes we blog about most in the coming year: Seemingly no pretension, definitely no entourage, a midget, what appears to be cheap beer all around him (a massive upgrade from the boxed wine he toasted with at Penn State recently), and an everyman wardrobe of jeans and a white shirt. And now, back to the Celtics getting blown out in game four.

Is that Bubbles in the background? Check the dude with the psuedo-man bag not wearing a shirt. Is this the low-rises?

this game’s so weak i’m watching Tivo’d FNL. Yup. I think it’s the second season. The coach just accepted the college coaching job.
And Rick, that’s a great eye. The man bag WHILE grabbing balls.

Are we sure the tall black guy isn’t Dwight Howard and the obsessed sycophant on his knees isn’t Irish?

WIth that comment, Cleveland has now been cursed for another 47 years.

TBL, Spurs shot 10/18 from 3.. and Manu was 9/15. Kobe was efficient again, but Lamar was atrocious, and Pau got dominated inside by Duncan (22 rebounds). Phil Jackson was doing schtick again with Craig Sager.
Another bad playoff game.. unfortunately that’s been the trend in these playoffs.

I personally like the Spurs because these Lakers sound awfully confident for a team that’s appeared out of nowhere. They act like they’ve all been playing for NBA titles for years. I think if they get down, you’re getting a heavy dose of Kobe tomorrow, which is not the way to play against the Spurs. Their supporting cast has had two bad games in this series now out of three.
Kobe has also only gotten to the line 6 times in this series, which is incredible considering the fact he lived there agianst the Utah.

And enough of Mike Breen please! How many times do we need to hear variations of “It’s in”.. “Shot’s IN!!” “Ball is IN”. He has some weird inflection in his voice when he does it to.
Damn it Marv, why did you have to get all kinky in public, you single handedly ruined NBA finals games for me for a decade (remember how bad Al Michaels was?!)

I made the experience point repeatedly when John Hollinger proclaimed this team the best in the West.
Sorry to root against your Lakers, and another Spurs title gives Duncan more than Shaq … but

TBL.. the Lakers are not my team. I’m a die hard Cleveland fan, have been since I was old enough to start watching basketball. I just also happen to double as the voice of reason.

Dear refs,
Thanks for the help.
Sincerely,
Red Wings

i thought the part about the midget was a tall joke and then i finally looked at the picture.

Funny, don’t see how the refs helped the Wings win when:
1. The Wings didn’t score on any of their power plays.
2. The Pens didn’t have a shot on goal until they were on the power play.
3. The Pens have YET TO SCORE IN THE SERIES.
The refs have been taking goals away from the Wings, yet they still dominate the Penguins. But nice try.

@fetch:
I hate to do this (because I hate defending the Wings in any fashion), but the Pens aren’t losing because of the refs. They are losing because the Wings are, unfortunately for all, a better team.
Oh and they haven’t been able to score a goal, and look like they might have a chance only if they played Detroit 5 vs 4 all game.
But Osgood has established himself as the predominant diver in the league now that Hasek is relegated to the bench.

I will be the first to admit Ozzie sold it there in the end when Roberts shoved him, but a “predominant diver?” Give me a break. If I’m not mistaken, tonight was the first goalie interference call we’ve had in the playoffs.
May 26th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
jibble i know, but it at least got some conversation going.

I believe the preferred nomenclature is “little person”

yankee hooligan: with respect to your screen name: I believe the preferred nomenclature is “dickhead”

I was thinking the ridiculous dive on Malone where he initiated contact and then went down like a ton of bricks more specifically. Also the very light stick in the chest from Ribiero in the Dallas series where he acted like he may not be able to play again was pretty bad as well.
I never thought Osgood was a diver until this playoffs season. He’s been channeling his inner Hasek in these playoffs
May 27th, 2008 at 12:16 am
We can pick this up tomorrow, but your assessment of Osgood being a diver is not only wrong, it’s also ridiculous.

Sportsgal, the internet should not be used for arguing, it should instead be used to meet strangers in their darkest hours of desperation. You want in?

What about me?

The refs have nothing to do with the Pens getting worked thus far. The Wings are just playing at a higher level right now. I have seen so many tape to tape passes since the 80s.
That said, Osgood looks like he would have been a pretty decent soccer player with his exaggerated flopping.
