Why does this have disaster written all over it? The last time Doug Collins - apparently, he’s going to coach the motley Bulls - drafted a No. 1 pick, that man was Kwame Brown (fine, it was a joint effort with Michael Jordan). This next thing we’re going to tell you must be told in a whisper, because if we say it out loud, you won’t believe it. So put your ear to the screen.

Collins took Kwame Brown despite misgivings from Isiah Thomas. True story. Swear. It was all chronicled in the definitive piece on Kwame Brown, written by Sally Jenkins of the Washington Post. (Despite your thoughts on Brown, please read this.)

The fact is, when Jordan, in his role as the team’s chief executive, and Coach Doug Collins decided to make a 19-year-old fresh from his senior prom at Glynn Academy the No. 1 draft pick, they had no idea what they were actually getting themselves into. Isiah Thomas, the head coach of the Indiana Pacers, tried to tell them. “You’re going to be shocked,” Thomas said. “He won’t know a thing about basketball.”

The Bulls maintain they have no idea who they’re taking, despite former Memphis strongman Joey Dorsey claiming the Bulls will pass on Rose and the point guard will fall to Miami. (There’s so much to love about Dorsey. Wherever he goes, he’ll be a fan favorite.) We’ve advocated Beasley from day one and nothing’s changed. However, down the line at No. 3, we may have to go with someone other than Brook Lopez - apparently, he doesn’t want to work out for them.
