The Chicago Bulls Are Going to Trust Doug Collins with the No. 1 Pick? Bwwwaaahhhhhh
NBA May 29th. 2008, 4:30pm
Why does this have disaster written all over it? The last time Doug Collins – apparently, he’s going to coach the motley Bulls – drafted a No. 1 pick, that man was Kwame Brown (fine, it was a joint effort with Michael Jordan). This next thing we’re going to tell you must be told in a whisper, because if we say it out loud, you won’t believe it. So put your ear to the screen.
Collins took Kwame Brown despite misgivings from Isiah Thomas. True story. Swear. It was all chronicled in the definitive piece on Kwame Brown, written by Sally Jenkins of the Washington Post. (Despite your thoughts on Brown, please read this.)
The fact is, when Jordan, in his role as the team’s chief executive, and Coach Doug Collins decided to make a 19-year-old fresh from his senior prom at Glynn Academy the No. 1 draft pick, they had no idea what they were actually getting themselves into. Isiah Thomas, the head coach of the Indiana Pacers, tried to tell them. “You’re going to be shocked,” Thomas said. “He won’t know a thing about basketball.”
The Bulls maintain they have no idea who they’re taking, despite former Memphis strongman Joey Dorsey claiming the Bulls will pass on Rose and the point guard will fall to Miami. (There’s so much to love about Dorsey. Wherever he goes, he’ll be a fan favorite.) We’ve advocated Beasley from day one and nothing’s changed. However, down the line at No. 3, we may have to go with someone other than Brook Lopez – apparently, he doesn’t want to work out for them.

Take Derrick Rose.
There, that wasn’t too hard.
May 29th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
There’s no Kwame Brown-esque player this year though. So he can’t fuck it up too bad. Unless he drafts Mike NYC. That would be a disaster.

Double linking Chicago Bull? Dr. C is obviously buying somebody drinks and it sure as hell isn’t me. Make with the PBR mothafucka.

Mike – because you were on hiatus:
And what then, of Hinrich and the 10 mil he makes next year, and 9.5 the next, and 9 the following, and 8.5 the next …

@hef- you do nothing but pollute this site. Your nonsense is quite childish. please go think of some more Jew jokes to tell tomorrow

It doesn’t matter who the T-wolves take, he will end up being a bust anyways. The best players this team have drafted, have been traded away like 2 seconds later. Ray Allen could have been playing with Garnett a long time ago. And then 2 years ago they couldn’t tell the difference between Roy and Foye.

Joey Dorsey will be a fan favorite wherever he lands, and will be despised by every other fan base in the league.

@CRM: Cold PBR, coming up

I thought teams have learned their lesson by now about not drafting the best available player.
Didn’t the Bucks pass on CP3 ’cause they had TJ Ford or something?

Bulls should take Beastley.
This hire has disaster written all over it.
Where are you Swandog?

TBL…you take Rose he is the best player…Hinrich will have a market, it might involve getting another bad contract in return, but if it is the right fit it will happen

I don’t even follow the NBA and I know this hiring is a HORRIBLE move by Paxson. It’s such a bummer too because I loved him during his playing days.

Wherever he goes, he'll be a fan favorite.Enjoy him, Albuquerque T-Birds!

After reading that WaPo piece the only conclusion I can come to about Kwame Brown is that he’s a functional retard.
May 29th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
While we were at Indy this past weekend, my blogging buddy Noce blurted out Derrick Rose in his sleep. Pretty obvious who he wants.
I’m still with TBL on the Beasley pick. Their entire team consists of jump shooters who couldn’t open looks this past year. Beasley solves that instantly. Secondly, with a front line of Noah-Beasley-Gooden, that’s tons of rebounding and second opportunity chances. Lord knows they’ll need with Hughes coming back.

Come on, Paps, don’t start something that’s not there. I don’t need Hef and Maggs on my case four hours before LOST.

All good, Mike.

Did someone make a bet with Purdue Matt? I haven’t seen him on here in forever, yet everyone rips on him constantly.

Haha, I don’t know why but what you wrote made me laugh out loud Sportsgal.

Seconded.

“….a definitive piece (written by) Sally Jenkins????? Are you nuts? Miss Nepotism hasn’t written a definitive piece on anything since she was doing a Jackson Pollock imitation with her first grade crayons.
Her Kentucky Derby piece on Eight Belles was dreck of the first magnitude. Wake up, my TBL pals……

ROSE IS MY PICK BUDDY. If you’re a real Bulls fan, you’re totally fucking tired of watching Hinrich suck dick.
May 29th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
is 14 and 6 over 5 years really sucking dick? Especially since this year was the first year his production went down.

@fetch9… KH was a great College player but he’s Nowhere near a Great NBA PG with the Bulls (It’s nothing personal against a KU product)
D-Rose has NBA Stud-n-Superstar Potential which translates to Great NBA Point Guard… Kirk will land somewhere else and will be better off for it
May 29th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Im not saying he’s great or a superstar or anything, but he has a great jumper (last year be damned) and I think personally that Beasley is a better player than Rose, and if all Kirk has to do is get the ball to Beasley, Deng, Gordon, etc. it won’t be a huge deal.
May 29th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
You know I always wondered what would’ve became of KH if he would’ve made that jump shot to win the National Championship for KU

May 30th, 2008 at 10:29 am
I’m not saying KH is terrible or anything either, nothing personal at all, he just isn’t as widely advertised and I agree with CTF, he will be better off somewhere else and have a fine NBA career, but his numbers are pretty weak comparitively to less experienced, elite PGs that are seriously outshining him. He hasn’t shown any killer instinct, and he doesn’t seem to want to lead the team. You need that in a PG. Plus, I want our own CP3 baby, DRose could be it. Either guy at number one is not a mistake pick though, and I would gladly take either.
