Ballin’: Kobe’s Four Wins From the Title
NBA May 30th. 2008, 10:45am
Lakers 100, Spurs 92: It didn’t matter if the Spurs were up 10 or 20 – the Lakers were winning this game. We only caught the tail end, just in time to see Kobe hanging and hitting an elbow jumper to help LA pull away. Kobe tallied 39 and then went to see the Sex and the City movie with his wife. (Cheaper than a ring!) Pau Gasol collected 19 boards, and the two helped offset a triple-double from Tim Duncan (19 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists). What a difference a year makes, huh? On May 30 of last year, Kobe went on the Dan Patrick radio show, angry and frustrated. It had a been a trying few weeks for the star – he had no help, LA had been eliminated again, and the horizon appeared bleak. His old wingman Shaq had won another title, LeBron was on his way to the Finals, and the Bean had jokers like Kwame Brown and Chris Mihm patrolling the paint with precocious Andrew Bynum.
Hope Kobe sends the Memphis owner and GM some serious Christmas loot after LA captures the title this year.

It had a been a trying few weeks for the star - he had no help, LA had been eliminated again, and the horizon appeared bleak.Just goes to show what a man can do when he dedicates his offseason to
throwing his teammates under the bus, demanding a trade, and/or demanding better teammatesworking diligently on his game and developing camaraderie with his guys. I salute Kobe.May 30th, 2008 at 10:50 am

Great game last night Spurs came out hard in the 1st half. I almost thought they would run away it.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:54 am
Lakers vs. Pistons would be a sweet series. Lakers vs. Celtics, not so much.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:54 am
Lake show gets a week off between now and the final. Question is who will they be playing.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Kobe will rip your heart out and eat it in front of you, he is a very very bad man. I hope TMac, Vince, Gilbert, KG, Dirk and all the other wanna be superstars were watching last night, thats how its fucking done.
Once you’ve won the MVP, does the crown really need to chant it, isn’t that kind of redundant?
May 30th, 2008 at 10:56 am
i said the Pistons at the start, but the Celtics will win
Lakers vs Celtics. Lakers in 6, Kobe NBA Finals MVP
May 30th, 2008 at 10:56 am
Bruce Bowen looks like he should be carrying Jerry’s man purse and wearing Putty’s jacket there.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Next story at The Sports Hernia? Bruce Bowen=Elaine?
May 30th, 2008 at 10:58 am
I thought the Pistons would beat the celtics but with Billups still hurting and Rip hurt I’m not so sure.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Kobe is good. real fuckin good.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:59 am
They’re in LA, dude and they’re not very smart to begin with. Most of the people don’t realize that it’s the playoffs.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:00 am
Kobe is the best player in the NBA.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:01 am
So Kobe used the media to help his team and teammates get better? I guess his burning desire to win championships supercedes his burning desire to make sure The Four Horsemen get paid.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:01 am
better than Richard Jefferson? HAH…I think not.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:02 am
Going to the Sex and the City movie is some major penance for banging a Laker girl….Oh and as discussed yesterday…nothing distracts Kobe even teh 4 hags in the Sex in the City Movie…he is locked in
May 30th, 2008 at 11:02 am
Maybe we’ll just give him Doug Collins’ perm. He could use a fresh look.
May 30th, 2008 at 11:02 am
I live in LA
please beat the Lakers, lest their fans become more unsufferable
May 30th, 2008 at 11:03 am

With Shaq getting fatter and fatter and Kobe getting better do you still hate the Lakers for keeping him and not the fat man TBL?

With traffic lights, green means stop and yellow means slow down. But that’s the exact opposite of bananas. With bananas, yellow means go on ahead, green means slow down, and red means, “where the fuck did you get that banana.”

2008 NBA MVP KOBE
2008 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP?
2008 NBA FINALS MVP?

If the Lakers win it all this would be a damn good year for Kobe Bryant.

Kobe is ridiculous. And LA is full of guys 6′7′ or taller who can pass, shoot, dribble, etc (Odom, Walton, Gasol, Turiaf). East winner has minimal chance to win.

Has our resident messiah commenter been made aware of this blasphemy?
May 30th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Hef :
The Sports Guy actually spoke about the Lakers crowd on his podcast with Jacko last week. He said he was suprised but they are actually real fans and they know the game pretty well. Mentioned how everyone thinks it’s just the place to be but in reality most of the crowd were true fans and not just there for the scene. In the same conversation he said it’s the complete opposite with the Spurs, where they constantly blast music even during live action. He said they have to be told when to cheer or boo. Ridiculous!
