I hope ESPN wins the rights to the Olympics, cause then they will have coverage about them 24/7
/probably the only person in America who still watches.
And TBL, some events are on USA because it is owned by NBC. So in the afternoons this August you’ll get to watch like team handball or whatever.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Well, that’s just indefatigable.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
So who’s getting the axe to make room for Strahan on ESPN?
Emmitt or Steve Young get my vote.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Why does anyone have to get the axe? The cast of 20 on Countdown will just have 21 now.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
I haven’t gotten my e-mail yet in regards to the Strahan blowjob.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
22 – Remember Sapp retired also.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Why cant Strahan get a good looking chick? this chick is scary looking with him in the above picture. his ex wife, just plain nasty
who else besides Jason Peter and Lawrence Phillips turned out bad from Nebraska?
June 9th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Sapp? you mean the guy who lived next to McDonalds?
June 9th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Umm, because he looks like Michael Strahan?
June 9th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
@RWH – Is that the one you’ll be administering to the retiree? Or… wouldn’t he call or text your or something?
June 9th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
I got a hunch Sapp’s a Red Lobster man Sparty.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
I was born in Nebraska, I’ve turned out ok.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
I’ve never had cable in my life, so I’m rather upset at how many sports events are moving to cable already. I can’t believe the NBA Conference Finals weren’t on basic TV.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
I got a hunch Sapp’s a Red Lobster man Sparty.
Not according to Strahan. He claims Sapp lived next to a McDonalds when he played for Tampa.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
CRM…Unless it’s Ted Kerwin…no one else on this site is remotely qualified for the Strahan retirement write up
June 9th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Re the Quality TV article: as a former Turner employee, I can say that they’ve been banking on these shows for years. It was great foresight by Koonin and others to go after a niche that broadcast had left behind in their zeal for reality programming.
/nerdy television rant over.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
If Emmitt loses his job, 2,000 blogs will be out of business.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
CRM…Unless it’s Ted Kerwin…no one else on this site is remotely qualified for the Strahan retirement write up
hmmmmm…I care to differ my fellow World Champion New York Football Giants fan.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
oh and Sparty..sparty gets his props too.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Emmitt’s days of murdering the english language will soon be over.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
MSNBC had more information on that dry drowning story that described some of the symptoms to look for.
Incredibly sad story and a whole new thing for parents to be afraid of.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
@fluffy – just because he’s not on television doesn’t mean he’ll start to sound like Carlton Banks.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
sparty..you were still on double secret probation because of not calling them by the correct name..unfair to leave you off..you pay your checks to the World Champion New York Football Giants just like me
June 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
If the Wizards ever get rid of Tough Juice I will start rooting for the Grizzles.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
let me give it a whirl…
Brett Favre was a great man. He loved pills and booze. He also loved laying his ass on the dirt to let some gap-toothed windbag get his name in the record books. He was good, but overrated. Suck a dick, Strahan. HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!
June 9th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
atlsportsfan is Nick Charles?
June 9th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
why is the ad placement unfortunate? i don’t get it
June 9th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
spencer…I can only hope that DA comes down with an amputated leg and Brady Quinn gets a venereal disease from a man..eat shit
June 9th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Damn that drowning story is strange. A kid can fill his lungs with water and not notice it went down the wrong pipe?
OK, at this point I have written a sentence about things going down the throat wrong 16 ways and they all leave me open to responses that are totally off topic and involve gag reflex so I will just say water entering my windpipe sends me into a coughing fit and I am surprised this kid just did not notice he swallowed a gallon of water.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
sparty..you were still on double secret probation because of not calling them by the correct name..unfair to leave you off..you pay your checks to the World Champion New York Football Giants just like me
LOL. Just paid for the parking.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
KFC I am with you.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Roman…that’s ok, we’ve got KEN MOTHERFUCKIN’ DORSEY waiting in the wings.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
@Mexico – Bravo, you rarely hear a Carlton Banks reference.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Ken Dorsey? Brady Quinn? You know Horse Balls is the QB, right?
June 9th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
@Clown…No, Fred Hickman
June 9th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Gonzo…He is out with Amputated Leg…a very rare disease where you have no leg..makes Quarterbacking tough
/happened in diss fantasy world
June 9th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
That MSNBC story clarified it a bit better, that is scary stuff.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
At least Strahan and Favre can now re-enact that
fraudulantrecord breaking sack during the Hall of Fame incuction ceremony.June 9th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Induction. Fuck.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Come on Groin…watch the play..Strahan definitely ran down Favre and Brett couldn’t handle the pressure and took the hit…it was Strahan’s manliness that made that play not some imaginary plot to set a sack record…please…just please…
June 9th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
@RWH
go over to dscommenters.blogspot.com
I got to put the ring on yesterday and took a pic with my camera phone. I cannot reveal who’s ring it is. I know the guy personally, and promised not to say whom it belonged to.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
I am so fucking jealous
June 9th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
TBL – it would appear that your headline writer is double-dipping:
Lakers get Powe-ned
June 9th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
@roman- ever hear the story about your kickers brother? sad how friends snitch on friends
June 9th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Irish..what are you talking about
June 9th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Tynes?
June 9th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
As for Strahan, the best part of his career was you never started a season saying the Giants need to find a pass rushing defensive end. In my opinion one of the five most important positions on the team. Strahan gave you the added bonus of being strong against the run and for the first 10 years did not take any plays off. The last four or five he rotated more often, it kept him fresh and the Giants were very good at drafting talented ends to spell him. He was always overshadowed by LT and the Super Bowl teams of 86 and 90. By the time I appreciated him for his skills his personality was a little grating, but hey, I loved LT and did not let his personality impact my appreciation for his efforts. Strahan turned into one of my favorites, I will continue to wear his jersey to games, he will make the hall of fame and while I will not go to Canton in August of 2013 for the induction ceremony I will always smile thinking of your 2007 Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and the role Strahan played in getting that ten table ring.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Teddy..well said
June 9th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
@Roman
I guess you’re right. Now that I think back, the “roll right and curl up in a ball” play was a major part of the Packers offense that year.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
And add me to the jealous of Sparty group. Even if it is the equipment managers ring.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
ted, Roman and sparty…ill go to canton for you guys and steal his yellow coat. you can all share it in 2 day cycles and alternate weekends.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
By the time I appreciated him for his skills his personality was a little grating, but hey, I loved LT and did not let his personality impact my appreciation for his efforts.
I made that exact point to TBL.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Jason Peter is a complete dirtbag.
/Christian Peter
June 9th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
lol.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
@roman- yes Tynes
June 9th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
@nomo- damnit. at least i had the last name right
June 9th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Sparty…are you writing this thing?
Irish…I don’t know the story is it recent?
June 9th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
i sent him something.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
@roman- It is pretty recent. In a nutshell, his brother is in jail for selling weed. A lot of weed.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Irish, I wouldn’t exactly call it snitching. They copped a plea to a crime they were ALL guilty of. Tynes is the only idiot who didn’t take the deal. Even his own brother doesn’t feel sorry for him.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
@roman- i forgot where i saw it. His brother got sent to prison for 27 years for selling pot. Big news down here in FL where they are from
June 9th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
PKI…so did Tynes turn in his brother?
June 9th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
RWH, someone did a big writeup on it, might have been ESPN the Mag or the NY Times Sunday sport thing, but it is about the kicker, I just glanced at it. I do enjoy being able to yell “kick it straight you Scottish Bastard” at the games though.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
@mike NYC- cmon now. Ratting on your one friend so the rest can stay out of jail. That is snitching to me.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
ESPN did that story.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Roman it was all over the networks during and after the Super Bowl, shocked you missed it.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Tynes Story
June 9th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Holy crap the Peter boys are friggin disasters… I’d never heard any of the stuff about Christian.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
I just read it..wow…that’s some fucking snitching…and I just had the baby after the NFC Championship game (we postponed the inducement until after the game) so most of the build up is a blur..
June 9th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
This isn’t the best pic of Eddie’s ex–she is pretty attractive, especially considering she’s 40 and has had four or five kids. And considering she’s been with Eddie and Michael, she apparently has a thing for guys who like dudes.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
No he didn’t, but basically it is just the typical thing where dude started out being a small time dealer and tried to join the big leagues. They got busted and basically everyone copped a plea except for him. Now the dude is serving like 20 years or something in jail.
The End.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Mike..from the article..he was not offered the deal
June 9th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
@ roman: In OTL, they said that he was. In fact, Lawrence was trying to get him to take the deal, but over the recorded conversations, his brother was against it.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
I’ve always hated Nebraska (See: State, Penn 1994) and Christian was the ultimate dirtbag, fratboy posterchild for Saint Osborne.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
True story about Christian Peter, I was working the door at a bar called the Columns in Avon NJ. Christian is from Middletown about 30 minutes north, he shows up one night in a party bus with 20 people, walks up pays the $100 cover charge for the group and heads into the bar. The only thing was this was the Friday before Training camp opened and the Giants had signed him under the condition he stay sober and pass drug tests, I was tempted to call the front office and let them know what he was up to. He only drank club soda but the fact he was out at all just let you know he was not making sound decisions in his life.
P.S. God forbid he started trouble all the staff could have done was call the cops and wait for the melee to die down.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
“Against the advice of his co-defendants, his father, his brothers and his defense attorney, Mark Tynes refused to cooperate. Each of his four childhood friends testified against him.”
The guy is an idiot. End of story.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
we postponed the inducement until after the game
wow, i bow to that. We taught my 2 year how to say “Let’s Go Giants” with the clap, right before kickoff of the Super Bowl. Now he does it every time he sees Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning before Sports Center.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Im sorry for interrupting the Straham humping with that story.
back to humping the Giants…
June 9th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Tynes brother should have taken the deal…that is retarded…sparty…shows you’re loyalty just as well…we showed up in the hospital wearing our giants jerseys..and I had on my Umenyiora Jersey on during the birth…we brought home the girl in a World Champion New York Football Giants ski cap and booties that looked like cleats…and she watch the Super Bowl in a Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning onesie
June 9th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
20+ years for some pot charges with no violence or weapons involved? That’s insane… good thing we have our priorities straight when it comes to sentencing…
June 9th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Rex, don’t hate Nebraska, hate the pollsters who didn’t give them a split. Cornhusker fan and born in Nebraska and definitely believe title should have been split that year.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Roman and his daughter wore matching onesies, how cute!
June 9th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Jeez, Roman, I hope you didn’t poop on your lady just like your hero
June 9th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
I don’t really hate them anymore, CBH. Ya gotta be relevant to hate, which is why I’m fine with Florida St, Miami (FL), and Michigan. Zing!
Now, speaking of hating, this site always makes me laugh. Bitter redefined.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
clown..why do you think she married me?
June 9th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Hahahah, that is hilarious Rex.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
@Rex,
that PSU team may be the most screwed over team ever.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
and i am fine with it.
June 9th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
I’ll admit the Huskers and Penn State probably should have split the title that year but it wasn’t Nebraska’s fault the Big 10 doesn’t want to part with the Rose Bowl. Nebraska went into Miami’s house and beat a team with Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis to complete an undefeated season while Penn State went to Pasadena and be a three loss Oregon team.
