John Kruk - ESPN Weatherman
Baseball, ESPN, Video June 20th. 2008, 1:40pmIn one of the most awkward Baseball Tonight standups since Karl Ravech held a glove for no apparent reason, our favorite rotund analyst Krukie displays his expertise in outfield defense. Specifically, he warns of the dangers of playing wall deflections that result in inside-the-park-homers IF played improperly.
This is the equivalent of Steve Phillips discussing the dangers of giving insane long-term contracts to fluke players like Roger Cedeno. Kudos are in order for Bugs and Cranks for providing the video - and assertion that Krukie looks like he’s standing in front of a weather map.[Bugs and Cranks]

If he was standing there with a giant turkey leg, my life would be complete.

I watched this on BBTN and thought ‘Kruk wouldn’t ever get close enough to the wall chasing the ball not to play the carom, so maybe he knows something about it…’

Because the regular voice over wouldn’t have been as humiliating…

I have a drinking game that I play during Baseball Tonight. Every time John Kruk says something smart, I take a shot of tequila.
Anybody wanna come over? I still have a full bottle.

it is like the reverse cindy brady syndrome, he can’t look at the camera….

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t he play first base? It’s entirely possible I’m off, cuz he was somewhat before my time, but I was pretty sure he was a first basemen. Which provokes the thought, why is he giving us a breakdown on playing the wall?

Look a hippo in a tie, I love these zany ESPN commercials.

He also played OF.

Reason # 318 that proves I am getting old. John Kruk is before people’s time.

ESPN always shows footage of him at first, never in the outfield, but sometimes eating a bowl of chili.

I’m sure you’re right 412, I figured he’d have to be for them to even allow him to do this. And sorry Happy St., didn’t mean to send you into a mid-life crisis or anything. If it’s any comfort, I had that moment 700 times last night and I’m only 22. High schoolers look 8 years old to me now. Yikes.

700 times with H.S. girls? Now THAT’S a thursday night!

I think you really have to appreciate Kruk not only for his BB knowledge but the sheer amount of cans of stroh’s it took to mold that body.
He’s a physical specimen I tell you. Steve Phillips is a dick.

Well I was hanging out with a couple friends I used to be teammates with in high school, and their younger siblings were having a party. I’m only 3 years removed from high school, but I can’t fathom that I looked that young. It’s absurd.

John Kruk only has one testicle.

Kruk was once a teammate of Bobby Rayburn

Is it me or does Krukie always appear to have a dip in his lower lip?
