The Roundup: Hoaxes, Cheerleaders, and Weed
Baseball, Cheerleaders, College Football, Drugs, Fantasy Sports, Media Gossip/Musings, NBA July 11th. 2008, 7:59am
There’s something about Sloan from Entourage … let’s hope this guy’s data is flawed … rock bottom … put a stop to big media! … if something happens to Fannie or Freddie … U of Kansas vs. Joe College … “Redneck couple weds at gas pump” … a dog received a phone bill … whom should we vote off the All-Star team? …
Long story short: Commenters used to like a blogger, but now loathe him, so they started a website about it. (Sparty and Friends)
Boston Herald reporter leaves for a radio station’s website. (Scott’s Shots)
Art Rooney of the Steelers talks to a blog. (Mondesi’s House)
Alou tears his groin, likely done for this season, perhaps career. (Hardball Report)
Talented writer, interesting book. (Washingtonian)
Dook Vitale might have given Evan Longoria that nudge to get the 3B into the All-Star game. (MLB.com)
Michigan fans none-too-thrilled with Freep columnist who drilled Rich Rod and the school over settling the lawsuit. (M Go Blog)
Anybody want Richie Sexson? (P-I)
Fantasy killers: We have Cano. And Byrnes. (Big Shirtless Rob)
Should have been a full post, but it’s everywhere: The drug hoax regarding the Oklahoma QBs is going to get some nerd sued. (Oklahoman)
We purchased a Vikings cheerleader calendar. (Vikings.com)
A vote for Bernie Miklasz. (Fanhouse)
Brad Miller of the Kings got five games, most likely for weed. (Sactown Royalty)
Grieving Tribe fan puts his allegiance up for auction. (Lion in Oil)
It’s expensive to be a Mets season ticket owner. (Mushnick)
Guess the three Washington Post staffers who are clearing $230k a year. (Washington City Paper)

Grinning, ear-to-ear. make sure you guys check out today’s posting. Bookmark it, never erase it from history, make it a part of your day.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:07 am
The phone bill addressed to the dog is freaking killing me.
If I could write something half as funny I’d be rich.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:09 am
The dog has a credit card! WTF!
July 11th, 2008 at 8:11 am
you cannot make this stuff up.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:15 am
Is that credit card fraud? Having a card under another name?
July 11th, 2008 at 8:18 am
You can get cards in others names, but the account is still attached to an account holder. How is the card the actual dogs? Does the dog have a SS number too? This is what will be on my mind all day long. Well off to ride some roller coasters.
TBL, thanks again for the lead in!
July 11th, 2008 at 8:21 am
Great interview with Rooney, that guy can write.
I am a KU fan, but that’s pretty fucking douchey. I noticed the other day, I purchased a black & decker drill, that they have trademarked orange and black. Colors, are you fucking serious, I don’t think that’s what the trademark rules were put in place for.
How bad can a guy really feel about losing other people’s millions, seriously?
July 11th, 2008 at 8:25 am
rebuttal from PurdueMatt in 3…2…1…
July 11th, 2008 at 8:27 am
That Dog better sign up for LifeLock.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:27 am
He might feel really bad if they threw his ass in jail. Hedge funds are a fucking shell game, with people guessing with other peoples money in their pocket. I wish I knew more about them so I could speak more confidently, but I don’t so I will stop there.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:33 am
cool website sparty.. i also heard le batard say that.. thought it was pretty funny since he is always lamenting the fact that GOOD football teams have a little “crazy” in them, a la guys getting arrested, or having trouble with the law
July 11th, 2008 at 8:37 am
I’m Brian Fellows!
July 11th, 2008 at 8:37 am
…then why isn’t my team winning championships?
/Vols, bitch.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:39 am
it doesn’t mean that if you have a good player get arrested you win a championship..it ’s just an objection on his part to MSM people always saying how bad it is to get arrested and that teams can’t win with players in trouble with the law.. which is BS
July 11th, 2008 at 8:40 am
people that give their dogs human names deserve to have shit like this happen to them. that said, still a funny story.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:40 am
Brad Miller is a stiff
July 11th, 2008 at 8:40 am
sloan = smokeshow!
July 11th, 2008 at 8:44 am
So a Brewer and a “Ray” got the final vote in? I’d love to see the numbers, I find this impossible.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:44 am
half kidding cortes; it’s no-panties-in-a-wad-friday, bro. I was making the point that my beloved Vols are always in trouble and not living up to expectations. the kicker just plead guilty to DUI. we check the sports section of the paper cautiously every morning and hope it was quiet the previous night.
/Vols, bitch
July 11th, 2008 at 8:47 am
@Sports Hernia: Corey Hart got 8 million votes. There was like 48 million total votes i heard on the radio.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:47 am
Fannie/Freddie will never fail, the gov won’t let it happen. However any kind of fed buyout/cash infusion would not be good. mizerle, psu fans know your pain.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:48 am
Im glad Longoria got in. I dont want to see a cheater like Giambi play in that.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:49 am
funny stff miz lol
July 11th, 2008 at 8:53 am
No one ever wants Sexson, the baseball player.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:55 am
ive got a triple play of shittiness today
1. a staff meeting from 10-3 (on a friday? not cool!)
2. im pretty sure someone switched my water bottle with a quart of liquified colon blow last night
3. im running on three hours sleep because i thought it would be smart to stay up til four thirty playing civilization
fuck me
July 11th, 2008 at 8:55 am
So using steroids for years and years makes you a cheater now? It is ridiculous, guy like that just admits it and goes from getting booed to everyone cheering for him and wearing stupid porn staches. F Giambi.
July 11th, 2008 at 8:55 am
Check out the morning video recap on Deadspin, hilarious clip of Hart’s teammates showering him with beer (that is, if you haven’t seen it already).
July 11th, 2008 at 8:55 am
Richie Sexson is going to be a star
July 11th, 2008 at 9:02 am
i heard the beer shower on the radio on my way home from the game. it was great radio but the video is funny to see the look on his daughters face. and DMac wearing jorts is funny.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:06 am
@atl: + jew star for the Fellow reference.
Jose Cruz: Well, Blaster’s very excited to be here, because the Chinese Zodiac calendar, 2003, is the year of the black sheep.
Brian Fellow: Hold on. Are you telling me that he’s uh, Chinese?
Jose Cruz: No no no, I think you misunderstood me.
Brian Fellow: Well make up your mind. First you tell me he’s black, then you tell me he’s Chinese. He’s like Tiger Woods?
July 11th, 2008 at 9:06 am
So, TBL, did you get that iPhone?
July 11th, 2008 at 9:09 am
@mole: +2 jew stars for Colon Blow reference.
-jew star for playing video games all night.
Net +1 jew star.

July 11th, 2008 at 9:18 am

July 11th, 2008 at 9:19 am
Nice Blog Sparty…I like even more what that blog stands for.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:20 am
Paging Sportsgal. We need to discuss the chicks from the post last night. You say:
I was thinking more along the lines of just handling the girl on the left for a night. Not long term. In that case I’ll take the one who looks the craziest. And she takes the cake on that one. So when you don’t understand our taste in women, well I say our, but maybe this just applies to me. When I look at the chicks that CRM or TBL post I’m thinking more one nighters. Therefore, chestsize isn’t all that necessary if there not going to be seen again. Now, breast size is important if you have to parade her around for your buddies.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:21 am
Am I the only guy around here that’s pissed that Civilization Revolutions is not available on the Wii? I mean…they have it on the DS, but not the Wii?
July 11th, 2008 at 9:23 am
what is revolutions exactly? im playing beyond the sword on PC, is it essentially a console version of that?
i loooove the earth scenario, colonizing the new world is so fulfilling.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:23 am
Yes. Now get over here and receive your wedgie.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:23 am
@mizerle

July 11th, 2008 at 9:24 am
Atomic wedgie those n00b 1053r5, Ron.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:24 am
mizerele, for all of the Vols players’ follies, they’ve only been good enough to log a 10th place and falling in the Fulmer Cup (as of July 9th).
How are Vols fans feeling about 7 more years of Fulmer? Not being sarcastic or anything, just curious.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:24 am
moleman…I didn’t mean for you to take my bilingual conversation yesterday to heart so quickly either
July 11th, 2008 at 9:25 am
back!
July 11th, 2008 at 9:26 am
listen here fratboys, there are actually video games besides halo and madden. i know this is a difficult concept to grasp, but just stay calm, tuck your pants into your socks, and we will get through this
July 11th, 2008 at 9:26 am
um…
michigan sucks
July 11th, 2008 at 9:26 am
@mole - nope, brand new game. Just for consoles only.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:27 am
@TBL - You shouldn’t have to be back. You have an iPhone. You don’t have to be anywhere now.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:27 am
TBL…you can’t yell back and not tell us if you got the stupid phone
July 11th, 2008 at 9:28 am
TBL, you’ll be happy to know that while you were gone, D&D players are trying to take over your blog.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:29 am
@Nick
“Where dat snake’s arms at?”
“That bird gon’ ruin my credit.”
Brian Fellow is one of the most underrated skits in SNL history.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Wow….I just was called a D&D player. That one actually hurt!
July 11th, 2008 at 9:31 am
Brian Fellows is very underrated.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:31 am
Its better than being called a Magic the Gathering player..those guys are ultra ghey
July 11th, 2008 at 9:31 am

July 11th, 2008 at 9:32 am

July 11th, 2008 at 9:33 am
Did anybody read this story?
My sister is waiting in line right now to get an i-phone
July 11th, 2008 at 9:33 am
Anyone have any thoughts on Fannie and Freddie falling apart this morning? Also, has anyone played mob wars on facebook?
July 11th, 2008 at 9:34 am
you guys … do realize the absurdity of taking to the internet to make fun of someone for being a nerd right?
July 11th, 2008 at 9:34 am
TBL, did you get it at the first store? What was the smell of the people camped out for days like?
July 11th, 2008 at 9:34 am
Mice are for computer troglodytes.
Keyboard is so much more efficient! *snort*
/Turns nose up.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:34 am
TBL.. just go the 2.0 update for my phone.. shit is sick man.. the MLB app is by far the coolest thing i’ve ever seen on an iphone.. video highlights of every game. wow
July 11th, 2008 at 9:34 am
Nice to see Arkansas at 8th place and rising in the fat phil cup. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not, but at least we’re in the top 10 in something.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:35 am
JB? strike one and two.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:35 am
More Brian Fellow:
“It’s a flying squirrel”
“Is that squirrel afraid to fly after 9/11?”
July 11th, 2008 at 9:35 am
TBL did you buy your i-phone with your dog’s credit card.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:36 am

July 11th, 2008 at 9:37 am
Santos L. Halper
July 11th, 2008 at 9:39 am
@blazers - when you say vertical aerial shot of neyland do you mean looking down the endzones (i.e. north-to-south/south-to-north)? I’ve got a pretty sweet aerial shot of Neyland, but it’s kinda skewed. i’ll keep my eyes open for you.
@August - it’s a mixed reaction. most fans are objective enough that they realize fulmer is likely not in the top 3 best coaches in the conference. some are getting squirmy wanting to start a new era with a new coach. however, a lot of people realize fulmer’s still a pretty good coach and the stability of having a long term contract with the built-in extensions really helps recruiting.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:40 am
Yes Roman but one day these nerds will have there revenge!
July 11th, 2008 at 9:41 am
just heard a report on the radio that said matt jones’s family released a statement saying they don’t agree with the felony charges from yesterday.
really? he was in a car and when the cops came up and busted him he admitted that he had coke on him. Not real sure where the confusion arises here. Then again he is an athlete, so there is no way he is guilty.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:41 am
ogre ends up on my side, bitch
July 11th, 2008 at 9:43 am
so just having coke is a felony? or is it cuz he had chronic too?
July 11th, 2008 at 9:43 am
moleman…what if they spelled dog C A T and they spelled cat D O G..would that blow your mind?
July 11th, 2008 at 9:44 am
Nwilson - So the chick on the right doesn’t look crazy? I was mostly commenting that EVERYONE was saying yes to the girl all the way on the left, but the girl with the cutest face was getting maybe’s and no’s.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:44 am
moleman, I played the demo of CivRev and thought the same thing, this is better on the PC with a mouse. Decent game, but awkward.
-infinity jew stars for jb, no more links for you.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:46 am
@sportsgal
Some girls just look like a lot of work. lol
July 11th, 2008 at 9:46 am
I’m pretty sure that they changed it to a felony. He is the only one that got pegged with one though, the other two just got misdemeanors. Having the weed around here is only a misdemeanor unless it is over a 1/2 oz., or somewhere around that. He got off pretty lucky really, there was 6 grams of coke in the ride but they aren’t charging him with intent to deliver, just possesion.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:46 am
Wait, girls have faces, I kid, I kid. Ark, pigs almost always charge stuff like that as a felony so rather than fight it you plead it down to a misdemeanor, not that I would know…
July 11th, 2008 at 9:49 am
Compared to some of the regular girls TBL has posted on here partying with athletes and/or sports writers, those girls ALL should have been no’s.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:50 am
Should have used my Whitlock link.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:50 am
Wait, which girls are you guys talking about again?
July 11th, 2008 at 9:52 am
From yesterday afternoon
July 11th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Check out yesterday’s post on that former L.A. Rams kicker who was arrested for raping a chick. It’s a picture of LeBatard with some random girls and it’s after the jump.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:54 am
im with you sportsgal. i thought those chicks were hit. Im surprised you didnt notice the mustaches on them
July 11th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Sorry coop I just dont have it this morning.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:56 am
@coop. Yeah, which is a bunch of b.s. 6 grams of coke shouldn’t be a misdemeanor anywhere, I don’t care who you are.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:56 am
irish, I was distracted by their ridiculously huge, dark eyebrows.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:56 am
Oh yikes. Didn’t see that one after the job. Bookends — I guess. Middles — no.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Yeah, but the standards have to be fluid SG. Pics taken at a professional photo shoot with lighting/makeup/angles that are then photo-shopped can’t fairly be compared to normal girls out at a bar taken on some crappy camera. You have to give those chicks a little wiggle room on the ‘yes’, however there was probably some yes’s that should not have been.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:58 am
I mean’t jump, not job.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Also meant meant, not mean’t
July 11th, 2008 at 10:03 am
Yikes, Ruckmaker… rough Thursday night?
Coop, I’m talking normal girls here, not pictures of WAGS or playmates. For example, awhile back TBL had a picture of Ryan Howard’s girlfriend and her friends. ALL of those girls were cuter than the ones in the LeBatard picture, yet some of them were getting no’s. I think the lesson I’m learning here is to be pictured with people uglier than me.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:07 am
Well I called dibs on the one on the left, so she’s mine. I don’t care about the rest of them.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:09 am
Well isn’t that everyone.
/sheepishly looks down
July 11th, 2008 at 10:09 am
Ugh, she’s just as ugly as the girl next to her. You can have her.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:13 am

July 11th, 2008 at 10:15 am
Dargh, meant for this to go on another post. This might very well be the worst commenter performance ever. And SG, I think the company they keep definitely has an effect on how guys see a girl, as I’m sure how girls see guys too
July 11th, 2008 at 10:27 am
the mother f’ing itunes store is KILLING ME. i didnt know i needed to download 7.7 to sync up my iphone … so i wait. and click refresh all the time, hoping their server will begin working again.
i got he 8gb in black
love it
July 11th, 2008 at 10:30 am
TBL, watch that Itunes. I can spend a fortune in that place. Even renting movies if I’m too lazy to go out to rent. You knew to it, or have used it before?
July 11th, 2008 at 10:31 am
You mean the servers might be overloaded by everyone buying an iPhone?
Never would have guessed that to happen.
/Sarcasm *off*
July 11th, 2008 at 10:32 am
I cannot even begin to describe the irony in this statement.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:34 am
You leave Billy Wagner out of this. It’s in a better place now.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:34 am
NW - oh, i just need to sync up with itunes. i rarely ever download from there. maybe 30 songs, total. i think i’ve gotten two gift cards, and used em.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:39 am
It’s a neat place, with TONS of music. The good thing is that you can take all of your cd’s and rip them onto there and keep your library. Only one word of advice, once you do that, BACKUP TO CD! Or better yet, use dvd’s because they have much more room for storage. I lost 72 days worth of music once as my computer crashed, but had it all backed up and redid everything in about an hour. It’s well worth your time if you plan on using it. Don’t get burnt.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:59 am
The forecast for Viking country is blonde and smoking hot for February.

There are 2 kinds of hard drives; those that have died and those that haven’t died yet. If you value it, back it up.
