Murray Chass Has a New Site: No Bloggers Allowed!
Baseball, Media Gossip/Musings July 16th. 2008, 10:20am
What were baseball writers doing late last night to pass the time during the interminable All-Star game? Reading the sparkly new website of former New York Times writer Murray Chass, of course. It has the vibe of a little boy’s tree house: No bloggers allowed!
The proprietor of the site is not a fan of blogs. He made that abundantly clear on a radio show with Charlie Steiner when Steiner asked him what he thought of blogs and he replied, “I hate blogs.” … Otherwise, this site will most likely appeal primarily to older fans whose interest in good old baseball is largely ignored in this day of young bloggers who know it all, and new- fangled statistics (VORP, for one excuse-me example), which are drowning the game in numbers and making people forget that human beings, not numbers, play the games.
We’d now like to step away from the podium and hand things over to the human beings at Fire Joe Morgan. We eagerly await their reaction.

At first I thought it was a spoof.
Still, TBL, give him a little credit for his sense of humor:
And this is sure to get Hef/Nick fired up:

He hates blogs… so he starts one? Does he actually know what a blog is?

nice idea. but since there’s no listing of contact information nor an email link, this might be a troublesome task.

Hey Murray - did you know they have the internet on computers now?

i find it peculiar how he abhors obscenities but applauds bissenger’s obscenity laced tirade. also how do you cover baseball and hate cursing? thats a pretty incom-fucking-patable personality trait for a baseball writer.

I think Murray the douchebag was all set to mail out a printed newsletter with his musings (and favorite senior citizen discounts/pics of his grandkids/tips on the right amount of fiber), but decided he needed $$$ to do so, so he opted for a Web site instead.
There is a mainstream outlet some where that should call it a blog, and rip him to shreds (ala Screamin A level criticism).
I agree with irishmafia (wtf?) - baseball is getting drowned in useless numbers.
