Mavs Refuse to Deal Pot-Smoking Josh Howard to the Kings for Problem-Child Ron Artest
NBA July 18th. 2008, 12:40pm
Ron Artest - rapper, defender extraordinaire, and owner of some of the sweetest haircuts in NBA history - will not be traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
The Sacramento Bee and Dallas Morning News are reporting that the Kings wanted Josh “Reefer Madness” Howard in return, and Mark Cuban balked. Cubes was more than willing to part with Brandon Bass and Jerry Stackhouse, but that wasn’t enough.
If you’re a Kings fan, shouldn’t you get what you can for Ron-Ron now, since he’s in the final year of his contract? As the days go by, the offers are going to become weaker and weaker. Bass is a decent power player with some upside, and even though you’ll have to pay him, Stack’s deal is up after this season.
Or, maybe the Kings are just waiting to see if Lamar Odom can be had.

Artest is one of my fav players to watch. I love his all around game. I would love to see him on the Lakers.
He has been quoted in the media saying he regrets not opting out. Too bad he is going to be stuck in Sac town one more year

gotta salt that water, son.

An Artest for Odom deal seems like it would be good for both teams. Translation: It will never happen.

Love Artest’s game too. But he’s just so damn crazy, you’re never gonna get equal talent back for him. Lakers could use his toughness though.

The Lakers need to get Artest. Phil can handle his craziness (see rodman). But I don’t think Phil would trade the most inconsistent player in the league for him.(odom)

Phil may be able to handle Artest’s craziness, but is Phil still alive? Didn’t he just get out-coached by Doc Freaking Rivers?

I’m surprised the commenter name “Tru Warier” is not taken

Phil didn’t get outcoached by Glenn Rivers
Derek Fisher outplayed by Rondo
Odom outplayed by everyone
Kobe outplayed by Pierce
Gasol outplayed by Garnett

Phil and Kobe will handle Artest. He has this odd level of respect for Kobe. Also, why wouldn’t the Lakers trade Odom? He has to play out of position next year anyway. They’ll have a question mark at center, a soft center at PF, and a PF at the 3.
