Now THAT’s a Basebrawl
Baseball, Fighting, Video July 25th. 2008, 9:00amPandemonium in Dayton last night: a rough minor league game turned into an all-out rumble, and 17 players were ejected. As managers barked at one another and benches emptied, pitcher Julio Castillo of Peoria hurled a baseball into the Dayton dugout … except it sailed into the stands and drilled a fan, sending them to the hospital. Solid work by the Dayton Daily News, which has video and many photos.

My only question is; why were there that many fans at a minor league baseball game?

I would make a serious example of the kid who threw that ball into the stands. I hope the fan presses charges just for the principle of the matter

The WNBA is not impressed.
The cheering and cursing of the fans is fantastic, exactly what i would expect drunk Peorians to sound like.

minor league teams can pull good crowds irish. it is a fun, inexpensive way to do something with the family.

Looks like he’s not getting a call up anytime soon. Still needs to work on his control.

Jussssst a bit outside…How can these hitters lay off such close pitches?

Note to the moron who taped this video: When the fight starts, try to keep your camera pointed at the people fighting, not at the fucking ground in front of your seat.

More fake quotes:
“I don’t see what Castillo did wrong.” - Ben Christensen
Eh.
“I leave for one day and this happens? What’d those Dayton kids do, bang my wife?” - Ryno
Better.

Now that’s quality family entertainment!
This video is way to long, where does the guy throw the ball and hit a fan, minute mark anyone?

@Magglio: Dayton sells out every home game every year. They’re on some record streak of 600-plus straight home sellouts. No lie.
Peoria starts a three-game series with Fort Wayne tomorrow. I can’t wait.
