Everybody hates Jay Mariotti
Baseball March 31st. 2006, 3:54pm
Those of you in Chicago just waking up need to pick up this morning’s Sun-Times because Jerry Reinsdorf, chairman of the Chicago White Sox and Andy MacPhail, president of the Chicago Cubs combined on a joint letter to the paper, blasting shit-stirring columnist Jay Mariotti for inaccuracy and ineptitude.
As is not uncommon with Mariotti, he has made no effort to be the least bit informed on this important subject. Any observer who has followed the subject knows that baseball, under Selig’s leadership, has made tremendous strides on the issue of steroids despite substantial opposition by the Major League Baseball Players Association … If Mariotti would ever trouble himself to make a phone call, maybe he would get the story right.
Nothing changes in Chicago: Wood and Prior are injured, the Cubs are “contenders” (snicker), and Mariotti remains the city’s punching bag.
