Cubs Fans Are Not to Be Triffled With
Baseball, Fighting July 30th. 2008, 10:30am
Last night, after the Brewers dropped their second straight at home to the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs, an upset fan decided to blow off some steam by hurling a beer at a bus full of Cubs fans. Mistake.
Three Chicago fans got off the bus and, according to police, attacked the Brewers fan. They knocked out one of his teeth and caused other minor injuries to the fan.
That’s odd – we thought Brewers fans celebrated a loss by vomiting on themselves. We may – MAY – be making a trip to Wrigley this fall, and we’ll be sure to limit our smack talk.
More Cubs fans not playing nice, face possible felonies in Milwaukee (Out of Right Field)

mmm…sweater cows.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:35 am
if people think redsox fans became unbearable after they started winning titles, pray to god the cubs dont pull it off anytime soon. quite possibly the biggest load of douche fanbase ever
July 30th, 2008 at 10:35 am
great picture. cubs fans always start shit. twins fans do too. but they don’t back shit up.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:37 am
Benji – it sounds like the Brewers fan started shit and couldn’t back it up.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:38 am
thats what happens brewers fan, YOU GET FORK STABBED
July 30th, 2008 at 10:39 am
Roeth – the Brewers fan threw a beer at a bus that was most likely not damaged and not owned by these 3 guys. does that really necessitate 3 guys jumping 1 dude?
July 30th, 2008 at 10:39 am
+10 Mole… funny stuff
July 30th, 2008 at 10:39 am
I wouldn’t worry about it. Lou Pinella will look to bring back Harden and Zambrano on 3 days rest in the divisional series only to be swept by AZ.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:39 am
You’d be upset too if you hadn’t won since the introduction of the Ford Model-T
July 30th, 2008 at 10:41 am
true
anyone else think the rule that you cant play the wildcard if theyre in your division is retarded?
July 30th, 2008 at 10:41 am
if people think redsox fans became unbearable after they started winning titles, pray to god the cubs dont pull it off anytime soon. quite possibly the biggest load of douche fanbase ever
Couldnt have said it any better and Cubs fans are pussys they would never bring that shit to the south side. They have their fun in boys town(North Side). Going to Wrigley is like going to a Abercrombie/Teddy Dupey convention.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Roeth, i was in Wrigleyville for the White Sox vs Cubs games about a month ago, and Cubs fans were starting fights with the Sox fans. My buddy got put in a sleeper hold while standing at the bar for wearing a Sox hat. While it was funny, they take sporting rivalries to another level.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Chicago fans – unbearable in victory, inconsolable in defeat.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:46 am
Benji – I’ve been to Wrigley as well, their fans are obnoxious and feel the world owes them since them haven’t won jack shit in 100 years.
Actually, I’ll be at the Brewers/Reds game in Cincy next Tues. Probably rooting for the Brewers so the Pirates can stay out of the cellar.
Nick P. – any suggestions as to where to go at/around the stadium?
July 30th, 2008 at 10:47 am
does anyone think any fans are bearable except for the fans of their own team?
July 30th, 2008 at 10:48 am
As a true Cubs fan, that picture angers me.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:49 am
as a whitesox fan living in the pirates broadcast area, i quite enjoy the pirates fans. mainly because theyre like sad puppies.
granted its gotta be easier living with no hope than your team building up a season of hope then shitting it away right after the allstar break
July 30th, 2008 at 10:50 am
I don’t mind Michigan fans. Of course, they’re really easy to shut up with 2 words, so maybe that’s why I don’t mind them.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:51 am
There is NO CHANCE that Cubs fans would be more obnoxious than Bawston Red Sawx fans. Hell, even the sports writers in Bawston are Red Sawx fans first and writers second (Yes, Peter and Dan, I’m talking to you). They have actually replaced the Yankees as most horrific right now because of their righteousness.
IF the Cubs ever win again, it will be overbearing for a short time, then die down to something less than that. Think of it this way. Boston people, in general, are more pushy and over the top than Chicago people, regardless of the subject. Chicago folks at least have SOME midwestern values that keep the outlandish behavior to a minimum.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:51 am
glad to see that there are asshole fans outside the new york, philly and boston areas.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:52 am
No one has said it yet? Okay, here goes: The Cubs are gay and so are their fans.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:52 am
that midwestern values sentiment is the most overrated bullshit since herm edwards playoff record
July 30th, 2008 at 10:52 am
There are plenty of fan bases that are bearable. I’ve had some awesome times tailgaiting at bowl games with fans from other teams, been to NFL games in other cities, etc.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:52 am
as an OSU fan…badger fans are great and PSU fans, when not throwing urine balloons at our band or hitting our fans with beer cans, are pretty cool too. any SEC team fans are fantastic as well, even though they (and they have the right to…unlike UM) bust OSU’s chops a lot.
all NFL fanbases other than the browns are trbl…slight bias there.
Oklahoma City fans when the hornets played there were amazing.
St. Louis Cardinal fans are great, for MLB.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:53 am
which two work best: Appy State? Ohio State? extra timeouts?
July 30th, 2008 at 10:54 am
id say ‘lock down’ but im not sure if thats hyphenated. maybe ‘lights out’
July 30th, 2008 at 10:54 am
having no balls tends to do that.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:54 am
@miz. Sweater Vest
July 30th, 2008 at 10:55 am
that incident last year was pitt fans hanging out at a psu frat house
still douchebags though
July 30th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Not sure about the rest of Ms. Sterger’s investments, but buying those fake tits has paid off handsomely for her.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Michigan is a great school for mathematics…34-32 usually gets the message across.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:57 am
yea, like i said, for the most part PSU fans are always cool and knowledgable.
OSU fans get a bad rap, and deservedly so, so i won’t stand here and defend my team’s base.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Been to Wrigley a couple of times and have had nothing but a good time.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:59 am
OSU sucks balls.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:59 am
i knew we are capable of saying nice things about each other. now you can all quit the facade and go back to bashing and ridiculing.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:01 am
as a notre dame fan at penn state i have really had problems with psu fans. aside from all the HILARIOUS ‘charlie is fat’ shirts these douchebags love, they keep trying to force the idea that there is some sort of rivalry between the schools. aside from the fact that they both have made about one or two title contentions in the last 20 years and get way too much publicity, theres nothing between the schools. exception being notre dame fans seem to realize when their team is going to suck, but psu fans seem to think a title is viable every year because of paterno and their awesome fans
July 30th, 2008 at 11:01 am
Are you sure you’re an OSU fan? It’s hard to believe when introspective statements like that are issued from your keyboard.
Oh, I have a group of fans no one has any issues with: Wake Forest fans. They don’t start shit, they love and support all of their teams, and they’re generally nice people. If only they would excomunicate billy packer.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:01 am
Love all these sweeping generalizations about Cubs fans because you either went to ONE game, partied in Wrigleyville once or have an inferiority complex because you like the White Sox. Wrigley Field during baseball season is a tourist attraction. You have lots of people who have minimal interest in baseball going to Cubs games because they’re on vacation and want to get drunk and hit on chicks. Guys getting wasted and starting fights with people happens everywhere, not just in Wrigleyville.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:02 am
hahahahahaha WHAT?
July 30th, 2008 at 11:04 am
yea…unfortunately, there are a lot of douchebags who root for OSU, but most of the buckeye fans who frequent this commenting section are good people. we’re not ALL bad.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:09 am
The Cubs are gay and so are their fans.
i love you hef.
wrigley field is the most expensive singles bar this side of st. tropez. it’s a fucking joke.
i was at the tigers/white sox game this weekend, standing with some sox fans and a fag in a cubs hat walked by and gave the sox guys a thumbs down. come on. first of all, the cubs are not playing within 500 miles of this locale. and secondly, no one fucking cares that you think you’re mark grace now because of your j-crew-esque cubs hat. go the fuck home.
i want to kill every cubs fan in the world. that is not an exaggeration.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:09 am
As a Buckeye fan, we are often embarrased by some of the school’s supporters.
I too have found Penn State fans to be great. I have had good times hanging out with them at the varsity club before a game.
I loathe Michigan fans, and find Michigan State fans to be fun and entertaining.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:10 am
Umm…. much worse story abut Cubs fans from this weekend: Man loses eye in Cubs-Sox fight
Not trying to pile on or anything…
July 30th, 2008 at 11:11 am
still dont get how whitesox fans have an inferiority complex. is it because the cubs get so much attention? sure that happens, but its because theyre such a hapless bunch of historical losers. which the whitesox for the most part were too until they WON THE FUCKING WORLD SERIES THREE YEARS AGO.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:11 am
slcbuckeye…are you the one around here goin to LA for the USC game?
July 30th, 2008 at 11:11 am
an inferiority complex because you like the White Sox.
wow, i missed this the first time. typical smug cubs fan. last time i checked, the white sox won the title in 2006. if a cubs fan ever talked shit to my face, i’d kill them and drop their body in sulfuric acid. that’s like a cavs fan talking shit to a pistons fan. OH WAIT…..
July 30th, 2008 at 11:11 am
You don’t have to be at Wrigley to see a moronic Cubs fan. Or any fan’s homefield for that matter. Jack ass fans are everywhere. They just don’t happen to have 100 years of pent up anger in them.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:12 am
august i like how that sprung from ‘a two year olds birhday party’
and look at those names, second largest polish populated city in the world outside of warsaw
July 30th, 2008 at 11:13 am
Notre Dame fans are the truly ghey. If I have to hear about another “Top 5 recruiting class, d00d!!” that ends up sucking balls for 4 years, I’ll go crazy.
Fuck Michigan.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:13 am
All of you can go fuck yourselves!
PERSONAL ATTACK PERSONAL ATTACK!!!
How does a CUBS post turn into all of you mouth breathers talking shit about Michigan???
July 30th, 2008 at 11:13 am
still dont get how whitesox fans have an inferiority complex.
Have you been to the South side of Chicago? It goes way deeper than W’s and L’s, it seems to me…
July 30th, 2008 at 11:13 am
Cant beat pissing in a trough
July 30th, 2008 at 11:14 am
its called being optimistic in the face of another bowl-win-less season damnit

2005…you know what i meant. 2006 world series never happened, right?
July 30th, 2008 at 11:16 am
agree with the MSU part good friend of mine with there, always a good time when we went up to visit. its safe to say that every fan base is going to have their collection of d-bag fans
July 30th, 2008 at 11:17 am
i would LOVE to know how/why sportsgal likes the red wings and cubs. seems pretty fucking convenient. are you a chicago transplant from michigan?
July 30th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Fellow White Sox fans – Bruce Levine says the Red Sox are interested in Orlando Cabrera. 1st thought: why? 2nd thought: please please please give us something in return for Cabrera!
July 30th, 2008 at 11:18 am
Good for you. All you hear in the Cell is how much the Cubs suck, that’s an inferiority complex. Your e-tough mantra has me shaking in my Cubs hat.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:18 am
Moleman, do you live in Chicago? Have you ever been to Chicago? Do you read either of the two major newspapers in the Chicago area?
Rumeal, it has nothing to do with being a “smug Cubs fan.” Look at the attention the Cubs get even though they haven’t won shit. The southside got to celebrate a World Series title 3 years ago, but aren’t anywhere closer to being the more popular team in this city.
Call Cubs fans “douche bags” all you want, but to act like they’re the only team with douche bag fans is moronic.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:18 am
Guys, guys, guy, this is a Cubs post. Keep it on topic.
With that, let me say: Fuck Michigan.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:18 am
Chicago folks at least have SOME midwestern values that keep the outlandish behavior to a minimum.
While some folks may have those hallowed “midwestern values” the vast majority lose them with a mixture of fanaticism, alcoholism and bratwurtism that drowns out their common sense.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:20 am
With that, let me say: Fuck Michigan.
Don’t worry. If tOSU doesn’t do it, a PAC-10 team will.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:20 am
i was born there ………………………………….. but i moved when i was three, but i was straight thug life up until then
i think there is definitely a sense of resentment for the attention thing (ill never like myself for saying this but scoop jackson wrote a GREAT article on that after they won in 05) but i think that is different than an inferiority complex. inferiority suggests that they know the cubs are a better organization, and until they win something, that just isnt the case.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Good Doctor – when can I expect the Luol Deng news on your site? After what happened in Minnesota last night, I need to read something good.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:21 am
1 Happy and Dr. C I’m glad you can represent some normal Sox fans, I know they are out there. Dealing with the idiots like moleman and Rumeal is tiring.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:21 am
@ Spencer Yes I am going to OSU-USC, but still do not have tickets. I do not know what I am looking more forward to Torrey Pines on Friday morning or the game.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:23 am
@ 1st Happy St: Give us Manny. put swisher at 3rd cause Credes back is fucked up.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:24 am
Swisher is a lefty.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:24 am

Hye, guys was trying to set up a fantasy football money league with just the TBL commenters. About $20 a entry with roughly 10-14 teams. All this is subject to change depending on what the actual managers in the league decide. Only have a couple guys so far, so if you’re interested, here’s the particulars. Any questions, just leave them in the comments section.
It’s Yahoo Sports

Call Cubs fans “douche bags†all you want, but to act like they’re the only team with douche bag fans is moronic.
I 100% agree, but you also have to remeber sg, the only reason the Cubs fans are getting hammered so hard this year is because they’re in first place, and may be the best team in the NL…
/feel dirty just typing that, but it’s true
July 30th, 2008 at 11:27 am
Moleman, it’s a self-induced inferiority complex by White Sox fans. I’ve been a Cubs fan my entire life, and I’ve never hated the White Sox or thought they were the inferior team. However I know plenty of White Sox fans who get more enjoyment out of the Cubs losing than they did when their own team won the World Series.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:28 am
What does “triffled” mean?
July 30th, 2008 at 11:28 am
oh that’s right…youre the one who sent me into a blind, jealous rage that resulted in an elderly woman getting her walker thrown down a flight of stairs…i remember now.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Nice to see how a Brewers fan starting shit was turned into an article about how Cubs fans are so mean.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:29 am
@Happy: Noce just posted it up now
@Diesel: Like wise. I have always watched the Cubs, and I enjoy talking Cubs with my the 80% of my friends who are Cubs fans. I don’t hate the Cubs, they’re just not my team.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:29 am
I felt dirty during the summer of 2005. I went to the Buffett concert at Wrigley and I had a blast. I found myself jealous of Cubs fans for getting to watch baseball there every day. Of course less than 2 months later, my team was winning the world series, so I felt clean again.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:30 am
no doubt that is true, but i dont see that as inferiority, i see it as realllly deep resentment.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:32 am
Cubs aren’t the best team.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:33 am
p.s. butlerboy – no one wants to join your yahoo fantasy league. You don’t need to copy and paste the same comment in every single post. Most of us are at work and can’t log on to a yahoo fantasy page anyway.

Speaking of Luol, his brother’s name? Deng. Deng Deng.

i’m not a white sox fan, guy. you’re probably “that guy” with a green cubs hat for st. patty’s day and a nomar jersey. i hope zambrano tears his rotator cuff this weekend.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Sorry sportsgal, I’m getting to you so much. I actually have about 6 people so far from the site. By the end, I won’t torture you anymore.

July 30th, 2008 at 11:59 am
Not a White Sox fan, just an idiot? That’s totally me though, green hat, bleacher bums t-shirt and a Fukudome head band. Johnny Wrigley to the day I die.
Seriously, are you 16?
July 30th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
I hate those Fukudome is my homie t-shirts.
July 30th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
The only Cubs t-shirt I like is the one that says: Cardinals fans take it in their Pujols.
July 30th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Man, I hope the Cubs reach the playoffs. This kind a reaction on a daily basis would be fun.
