Hurricanes Not Keen on Wearing Towels in the Locker Room, So Reporters Are Persona Non Grata
College Football, Media Gossip/Musings July 30th. 2008, 12:45pm
Just an excuse, or a legit concern? After all, towels can be difficult to cinch after breaking a sweat pounding Temple. From the Palm Beach Post:
… some unnamed players “voiced to me that they have a problem that some young ladies are over in the locker room that they go to school with, that are, what you call reporters…†Apparently, those players are not familiar with the use of a towel. What this about, of course, is control. Shannon, who would rather undergo daily colonoscopies than deal with the media …
So we can expect Shannon to be ornery with the media all season? Sweet. That’s always pleasant to watch, kind of like Just the Ten of Us reruns. What really stinks is that the next time a player sounds off, the cameras might not be around.
In other college football news, an old colleague of ours breaks some news: WVU QB Pat White, an accomplished baseball player, hasn’t played the sport in college because of the lack of African American players on the team. And the coach, apparently, is a prick.

I hate being the Grammar police…but that is a terrible sentence

/what the canes really do
July 30th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Sounds like a control issue to me. Either that or Shannon really likes naked dudes.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Me no understand the Pat White line. I assume baseball=because?

that was brilliant. I could of swore you liked Steve Walsh for some reason.
here is a good read about Shannon and the media.

I can never get sick of that Winslow tirade. Love that guy
July 30th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
Yep, because nothing says “cleaning up a program” quite like keeping the media away.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Shannon has actually opened up more this offseason than last. But no, he’s never going to be jokey-jokey with the media. I prefer he spend his energy making sure his QB can complete more than one pass in a game. Yep, still bitter about Kirby Freeman.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Ah, Miami. I hear they used to have a college football team?
July 30th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
make your jokes now…they recede, but when they come back, it’s scary.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Nah, two pro teams with similar salaries
July 30th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Thanks for the link Irish. It’s like your undercover without the Shamrock.
Shannon has two more years left to build on his recruits before a white coach comes in to take the credit for a great season three years from now.

I don’t think I’d want to send my kid to Miami to either be a murderer like Ray Lewis or murdered like Sean Taylor.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
or a jackass like Shockey, Lt. Winslow, etc.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
That might be one of the dumbest things I have ever read on a blog
July 30th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Classy post fetch.

/ not real…but coming soon from “what you call reporters”
July 30th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
If you don’t want to deal with the media then don’t go to Miami. This isn’t rocket science people.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
but your son could become “the most electrifying man in sports entertainment,” if he went to Miami.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
don’t think I’d want to send my kid to Miami to either be a murderer like Ray Lewis or murdered like Sean Taylor.
TBL actually made up a post about sending a kid to Miami. I believe it was right around the time Sean was killed. People can think what they want about Miami.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Classy post fetch.
rigth on Sean Jean.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
the same thing should be said about Michigan, except it is spencer and the sky is purple in C-bus.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
I thought Florida State was more of a joke than Miami. Apparently not?
July 30th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
I don’t think I’d want to send my kid to Miami to either be a murderer like Ray Lewis or murdered like Sean Taylor.
Even Bill Walton thinks this is hyperbole.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
.5 national title in 60 years now maggs, not true. 9 and 10 win seasons are not scary. yes i know, state sucks.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
why would i give props to Michigan? yea, i wish success to my bitter rival…come on.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Fetch still hasn’t gotten over that unfortunate incident he had with Alonzo Highsmith and Sebastian the Ibis. The 40 stitches healed his body but not his heart.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
The Ibis rules. The best part of Canes games is the Ibis. He is a funny giant bird.

For everyone who can’t stand the Patriots, enjoy reading them get torched by an ex-beat writer…. includes rumors of a Billicheat sex tape, and Brushci being disliked in the locker room.

oh, the irony that there’s potential video evidence of him banging one of his cougars is beautiful
July 30th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
@aygust
Great. I hate that team, Brady or no Brady.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
I totally don’t understand how a sports reporter can go on a blog and slander (or is it libel?) guys, then say it’s fact. Won’t he get sued? Did he think no one was going to see what he wrote?
July 30th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Nothing in that was fact. It was all opinion. But it was a good read.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
Even if he doesn’t get sued, it seems like he’d be blackballed from locker rooms throughout the league after betraying that trust so flippantly; it’s not like he was offered the lead NYT article or anything…
July 30th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Agreed. Good link August
July 30th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
fun link…Triston, you seriously don’t think Corey Dillon isn’t a miserable person?
July 30th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Well then, I’m glad there are idiots out there who don’t think about the consequences of what they say or do!
July 30th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
I’m sure he is, as is Belicheat. I’m just saying you can’t get in trouble for stating an opinion. Especially when your opinion is on a blog.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
ain’t that the truth. let’s all hope the sex tape is real. that would be a great post.
July 30th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
Ew. You people really want to see a Belichick sex tape?
July 30th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
i don’t want to see it. i just want to read all the comments about it. that post would be hysterical.
July 30th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I don’t think I’d want to send my kid to Miami to either be a murderer like Ray Lewis or murdered like Sean Taylor.
Dont send them to Ohio State you dont want them to be a Psycho like Alanzo Spellman or a retard like Clarett or a sweater vest faggot like Tressel.
July 30th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
or a sweater vest faggot like Tressel.
how nice
July 30th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
How many programs grants the amount of media access to their team that Miami did before Shannon?
July 30th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
No Michigan team in the history of football has even been as good as the best Canes teams, not even close.
July 30th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
/simplify your thoughts, coop
//too fun messin’ with the mich. fans here

Holy cow - that Tommy Rider guy who used to write for a Patriots rag is one crazy SOB. TBL - I look forward to some stand alone posts about this guy. A big, big up to August West for bringing us the action!
