Paul Pierce Not Arrested for Presumed Drinking and Driving
NBA August 3rd. 2008, 2:13pm
This is confusing, but what the hell. Pierce was in Las Vegas, driving at 3:30 in the morning when he was pulled over for suspected hammeredness:
Law enforcement sources tell us Pierce was stopped in front of the Tropicana Hotel and Casino and given not one but two field sobriety tests, plus a breathalyzer for good measure. He passed all three!
Now here’s the interesting part. After cops let him go, Paul left his car at the valet and took a cab home. He was not cited or charged.
To recap, Pierce passed three DUI tests, chose to stop driving, left his car behind and then took a cab to get to point B. Bizarre. Even more bizarre is the fact that Pierce WAS DRIVING AT 3:30 AM IN LAS VEGAS. DUDE, HIRE A PERSONAL DRIVER, PREFERABLY A SOBER ONE. If you don’t want to take cabs so you can smoke your weed, hire a personal friend to run you around town.

He just didn’t feel like getting pulled over again for DWB (Driving While Black)

48 hours with no computer usage other than the cell phone. UGH.
Good to be back in real life!

Most of us call that a vacation, TBL.

hawk eye, don’t you feel as though you’re out of the mix when you’re away from the cpu?

There is absolutely nothing bizarre about driving at 3:30 in the morning in Las Vegas. No one vacationing there under the age of 60 goes to sleep by midnight.
If he wants to drive and is under .08, he should be allowed to drive. He shouldn’t have to get a personal driver just because he is rich, black, and 6′6.

it is quite plausible that Pierce took a cab home because he didn’t want to risk being hassled anymore after the pull-over…
The main point is that Pierce’s behavior does not come off as particularly bizarre. The bigger question is why do black athletes always get pulled over for not signaling a lane change? I mean how often does that happen to white folk?

TBL - Not really. I have newspapers (usually) or the occasional bit of network news to keep me informed. Past that, I’m set while on vacation.

Back in the day, we didn’t call him Smoking Paul Pierce for nothing. Smart move on the cab.
